ummm hey guys ummm been a while since I started my car "without" the turbo hooked up, what happened forgot to run the intake piping? lol I bet you have a horrible miss when you do and it runs like a 3cyl metro. haha, should have just fixed up the good ol banana crx.
Hi Rob. Very nice work on the car. I'm wondering why you chose that chassis? Even GM or Pontiac guys would admit that the 80's were not too kind to the Trans Am. A buddy had one back in the day when new and I remember it as not one of the better Pontiacs. I love Pontiacs, but 1986? 1980's GM anything didn't cut it except for maybe the 89 turbo TA and 87 Grand National. Please understand I'm not looking to criticize. It just seems like a strange choice to put all that work and $ into.
@Toodlem No criticism taken. A lot of people would say I'm crazy for sinking this money into an 86 TA. Honestly though, it was my first car. My dad bought it for me at 17 and I've owned it for almost 9 years now. It's one of the cleanest ones I've ever seen and I am attached to it for those reasons. It's an excellent chassis though besides it not being worth as much as other years. It has one of the best handling suspensions of the 80's and I love the interior compared to older cars.
@transamman305 These cars were awesome cars for the money despite the slow emmissions choked 80's engines. They are simple to work on, and I love the looks and style. Not to mention I personally think they were built much better than the newer 93+ F bodies. When I'm done I'm hoping it will give people a different view on the 3rd gen cars and maybe show them how awesome they can be with some work. I also think that they will go up in value as they age, as they have been increasing already.
@transamman305 Thank you for the response and for realizing I'm not being critical. It's not like you need to justify to me what you've done. I was just curious as it's an unusual choice. For some, that "unusual factor" would make the project all that more attractive. I enjoyed the videos and hope you keep posting. It should be a killer ride when done.
@Toodlem Thanks for the compliments man! The vids will keep coming, and I'm sure I won't be seeing any 3rd gen trans am's built to this extent anytime soon...at least around me. That'll give me all the better chance to take home a trophy or two at the local car shows haha.
hey man im assuming your on TGO, if so send me a message im COOK2199 on there! great build!! how did you do your overflow and windshield washer fluid containers?
@cincycamaro92 Hey...of course I'm on TGO haha. I actually have a HUGE detailed build thread on there that gets updated constantly. I'll def PM ya and give you the link to it if you'd like. As far as the overflow container, it's a pre-made part from Canton. I don't know if they still make them but I would assume they do. And I don't have a washer fluid reservoir. Don't plan on ever needing it so I left it out. Anyways, see ya over on TGO!
@pattyb69 LOL.....is this the pattyb I'm thinking of? If so, I'm going to kill you next time I see you. If not, it's a conair trimmer, and no variable speeds!
now that sounds really heathly, good shit.
