Congratulations. You are the first one I have seen to mention that if you want a safe computer get a Linux or a Mac.
But, when you said that it's talking to 250 "command centers". Are you sure that you didn't mean the about 200 domains that Conficker scans daily?
Now that I remember. I had exactly the same kind of worm on my Windows. I caught the worm probably on September. Can't remember specifically when it was. But, then I changed to Linux and everythings fine.
cause thats when the worms go back to who ever made it and give them all the information that they have collected and most likely improve the worm so it does more damage ( I say it will turn our comps into zombies to launch a Dos or DDos attack thats if it takes over our comps)
actually it has infected about 15 million computers since April. But the worm stayed hidden on their computers and was supposed to activate on the 1st.
The only problem is that it starts on April 1st. Rumor is that every day after April 1st the worm will also be at work. I found the worm on my pc this evening, and removed it without any trouble. Avast anti-virus found it, I highly recommend everybody get it.
If you use Ubuntu or some other Linux variant you don't need to worry about it. I have not even thought about viruses until I hear Windows people crying about it.
Let's see... solely based on CA's' analysis of this thing, notably Conficker-C, to get infected on Vista would require the user to press "yes" on multiple UAC dialog boxes. Assuming they didn't disable it.
Every file and folder the thing touches is protected by the default Vista config. And if that isn't good enough for you, make yourself a Standard User account and use that instead of the built-in admin account.
There's a reason CA rated the threat level of this thing as "low."
I got there ip address do you think Microsoft will take it or do they need a address

You better update now because once it's april 1st (aka tomorrow) Your computer will be infected if you patch/update it tomorrow.

quick question before this happens..
If the virus has been around since November and has already infected 10 million computers, what is so important about April 1st?
mrmanown 2 years ago
thats the day they all return to sender the data they collected, and can be rewritten and delivered right back to you to do more harm.

Ubuntu will eat that worm like a bluegill would.

Yet another reason to be running OS X or Linux.
But wait, if you listen to the Vista fans on here they will tell you its not possible for Vista to get infected.
