  • This video doesn't actually show how amazing the light show truly is. You really have to be there to see it's full potential. And if I may just say, it's amazing.

  • I watch this from my friends room window haha

  • I love Hong Kong

  • hong kong.. my paradise... the pure capitalist country... america isnt anymore.. thats why ill move there instead to america i think.

  • Hong Kong looks like something straight out of Blade Runner or Neuromancer.

  • Kinda lame actually.

  • There's aliens out there going "WTF WAS THAT GREEN SHIT?!"

  • Watch this video for a light show you will never forget.

    /watch?v=xNFYqWtLmTk

  • Cyberpunk city up in this bitch. Adam Smith, eat your heart out.

  • EVERY NIGHT?! This city is amazing! I know some people from Hong Kong and they go for a month every year. I know why! This city looks like an experience just being there!

  • @77777XYZ Good thing Hong Kong has nothing to do with China then

  • I see the lights are in synchronization with the music. Do they broadcast music via radio with the show?

  • @cbrav0 yaaa,they do

  • Wow!! It's amazing!!

  • Yay thanks to TheDreamer i Found that the british finally leave my home country the year i was born YES!

  • 1:18 boat boat

  • Makes me want to travel to asia.

  • i love the way it reflects of the smog

  • total cheating in hongkong, we have very los in hongkong

  • I've been there. My Das lives there. Amazing City. Amazing light show. It's awesome.

But Singapur is the best. Trust me ^^

  • parents born in hong kong

    im born in canada

    never been there

    wanted to all my life...

  • I miss my city!!! :(

  • I'm in Hong Kong (^ _^)

  • Nice video! Hong Kong is my favourite city...so I know this lightshow is really beautiful if you sit on the ferry in example :-)

  • dang why is china so big so advance so populated so much money and have all them cities and skyscrapers

  • i think PRC should give back HK to UK

  • @LeeClaxton na. a very bad idea. i am a chinese student that studies in the uk and the amount of racism against asain, espicially chinese....u can never quite imagine what i had to go through each day

  • @LeeClaxton

    I also like this thought...

If not Britain, Hong Kong Cannot successful..

i love uk,,I love hong kong..I hate PRC...

  • God Damn Honk Kong is tight.

And Im over here always braging about San Francisco. I think ill shut up now.

  • Hong Kong #1 in the World Economic Freedom index. The most free capitalist market in the world.

  • i was in HK a couple yrs ago. it is very impressive indeed. it not only has the greatest skyline but I liked that subway they have..clean and easy to use with an octopus card.

  • @wheelworker1 haha I live in Hong Kong and an octopus card is a MUST. I'm touched that you thought to mention that in your comment xD

But yes, the only downside (which I'm sure you noticed) is the pollution.

  • @wheelworker1 HK was fantastic I was there on holiday last year the city was so clean and tidy and great skyscrapers. Highly recommended place to go on Holiday. So much to do.

  • Better skyline than in NYC

  • Man this place was amazing for vacation. non forgetable experience of my life.

  • Tamar was still there!!

  • So much for the conservation of the environment...

  • @FKProds

eheheee HK has actually only developed <25% of it's land, that's why the buildings are all so tall, even the residential ones, and that's why the prices for a piece of land is so expensive, cause you only have <25% of the place to buy and sell.

The rest of the 75% of Hong Kong is protected by the government and remains untainted by human development. You can't say the same for other cities as financially developed. The more you know.

  • @any1020 They developed all the land they could, the other 'protected' lands you said are mountainous regions that are not fit for building at all, in fact most of these skyscrapers are built on land fills... the MORE you know :P

  • Hong Kong , Vancoverians are the fucking luckiest people in the WORLD

  • hong kong is awesome.period.

  • I live in chicago and thought there was no better skyline until now

  • @trent8002003 because hong kong doesn't rely on tax as their substantial income, unlike the america where tax is like 40%=20%federal+20% states...america is not competitive in that sense where it deters most americans from striving hard cause big portion of their earnings will go to the national coffer. Hong Kong is indeed a desirable country to live in.

  • i think hong kong skyline is the ONlLY that beats NY

  • @1991siddhant most buildings in tokyo are like less thn 7 stories tall,,,a nice night view do require SKYSCRAPPERS like in hong kong

  • this is totally not " laissez-faire " in textbook definition.

well it indeed has minimal government intervention, but thats only applies in certain sectors in the commerical industry.

  • I've never been big on cities, but Hong Kong and Kowloon are awesome! It's very exciting and for someone who lives in the Northern Hemisphere, the climate in November is awesome!

  • support my home!

  • this hong kong is coll night skyline

  • The Hong Kong skyline night view is just too beautiful.

Definitely the Top 3 most beautiful in the world.

  • hong kong is the best !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • laissez faire capitalism

  • I'm in Hong Kong right now (third time). This place is truly amazing. If you ever have the chance, go! The Mandarin Oriental Hotel is the best. Great shopping in Kowloon, wonderful nightlife. Food to die for.

  • tokyo is better than any other city like new york honk kong london if new york has 1 times square tokyo got 6 like them

  • @1991siddhant Yea sure, whatever you say!

  • will u believe this i was there in hk for four days and i was not aware about such a big event which takes place every night !!

  • @1991siddhant how come u missed out this event.. my god...

  • @bbyycc1 my group was busy in shopping and we didn't hire a tour guide :(

  • im sorry but the music is just crap. why can't they have the lights to the voice of billy joel or anything from kenny g. like they do in vegas.

  • @nicholasliha because its Hong Kong not Vegas so they play different style music.

  • @nicholasliha that's like asking vegas to play music by Andy Lau or Leo Ku, but I bet you ain't know them either. So how are HK people suppose to recognise that druggie Billy Joel?

  • amazing city! no wonder why the brits was crying when leaving hong kong in 1997

  • @TheDreamer138 THEY MADE IT WHAT IT IS

  • i know it's nonsense

    but the buildings are cute!

  • I lived almost four years in Guangzhou and I was extremely often in HK.

I lost my heart to this citty of all cities!

  • It seems like a cool idea if you are just visiting Hong Kong but I bet it is not long before you grow tired of that every night if you are a resident of Hong Kong. 365 times

    a year.

  • @zoadam= If you don't likeit, then don't watch. Most of us don't like living in a sterile looking city like Pyongyang. It's their money. Let them enjoy themselves, and you go watch some holocaust videos.

  • wow how often do they do this?

  • @CalxP everynight

  • Seems like Hong Kong is still searching for Batman after he snatched the accountant in Dark Knight

  • This is so amazing!! I never knew that they did that! And I always wondered why their building had so many colorful lights on them! lol So were the colorful boats apart of the show too? And how were you listening to the music? Like, do they play it over for you guys on the other side only, or do they play it in the city too for those who are walking around? This is really amazing! :D

  • @Asabasgurl Haha, I couldn't resist replying you cuase I can tell that you are very impressed. The show is even 100% better if you've seen it live! I am so proud to be a Hong Konger after watching it myself.

  • @Asabasgurl

Those boats are not part of the show, some of them are ferries(public transportation) and some of them are Harbour Cruise/tour (sightseeing purpose); Songs and broadcast are available along the waterfront / on radio / on the harbour cruise / on the cell phone if you called the hotline.

The part I like the most is the beginning where each building was being introduced. Those building would blink and "wave" the laser just like they are saying hi to you!

  • Can you tell me where do I go...to listen to the music as this is shown?

  • i watched this of the roof of the ymca hotel i went there for a hockey tournament

  • omg i stayed at that hotel too.

I thought it was funny that the elevators had YMCA on the floor!

  • haha lol fancy that 7-11 just around the cornour i loved that shop :P

  • wow uts extremely incredible, nive vid =)

  • The only skyline to beat NYC

  • @RobertsDigital

    that doesn't beat NYC

  • @FourthOsprey cuz u r from NYC...

  • @ChunhonYau

Nah I'm not I live upstate. But that's just my opinion. If we're being honest, I'll be the first to say they're both pretty awesome. We can call this one a draw my good man. Until next time...

  • very nice, especially Bank of China is beautiful

  • this reminds of me of the christmas lights'n' music show that some bloke put outside his house. just on a bigger scale. rmgf60CI_ks

  • I like stuff like this, especially Christmas light displays. But, when there's places like Hong Kong, Las Vegas and Tokyo lit up brighter than the Sun, how can governments dare to tell us to turn the TV and lights off in our homes to save the environment? Ridiculous stuff imo.

  • We have to live a litte, too as opposed to saving everything for the next generation. The show is only for 15 minutes. Sustainable environmental protection means striking a balance between what the present needs and what the future needs.

  • yeh that wasn't my point though, my point is how we're told to switch our lights and tvs off to save the environment, i can't see how that little red light on my TV is doing that much damage compared to these massive light shows.

  • I see your point. But may be the take should be this : the light shows in themselves are massive consumption of energy but they also generate great revenue for govts through tourism which in turn could be used for environmental protection.

  • yeh that's one way of looking at it. But that's sort of like drinking a diet coke with a huge pizza. It defeats the object somewhat. Don't get me wrong i'm all for these light shows, just not the hypocrasy of the governments. Las Vegas probably consumes more energy than every TV on the planet.

  • The idea of turning your tv off (some people leave tv on in other room, crazy right?) and lights off (we've almost all left them on, or forgotten), is when you are not using them... obviously not when you are using them.

That is a substantial point which you did not consider in your claim "But, when there's places like Hong Kong, Las Vegas and Tokyo lit up brighter than the Sun, how can governments dare to tell us to turn the TV and lights off in our homes to save the environment?"

  • Also, a 15 minute show like this (despite how big you think it is) is no comparison to amount of energy in Hong Kong (which is nothing in comparison to the world) which is used for unattended lights (in homes) and TV's. Pull up some public power records from various countries and you can easily see the estimated immensity of such spendings and what an ant in the path (so to speak) this 15 minute display is. Brighter than the sun? LOL. These are not even incandescent (wasteful) bulbs.

  • the 'brighter than the sun' comment was not to be taken seriously ffs. My point is that while there are towns like Las Vegas and Tokyo which don't seem to have a night because theres so many lights and screens lit up constantly, turning my TV off (i.e not leaving it on standby, which is what i always do) will make no real difference at all. I wasn't specifically talking about this show i meant all places that have huge displays of light etc. this was just a small example.

  • The government "go green" junk you see on tv, newspapers and all over the place is an excuse for the extra tax which they will be introducing in the near future. CO2 emission tax. G20 agreed. EU will kick start the process, the rest will follow. These thieves will use any excuses to rob you, legally. Income tax, value add tax, service tax, TV tax (license), road tax, fuel tax...CO2 tax. Soon you will be taxed for the air you breath!

  • Hong Kong has the lowest tax rate among advanced economies. Max income tax is only 16%. On top of that, we pay a Govt levy if we own a property. Then that's it. No service or sales tax. No tax on interest, dividend or investment return earned.

  • trent8002003 Im not talking about tax in HK, Im talking about the global tax system in general. You are lucky to be paying less, but that doesn't mean you should keep your eyes close and let them tax you on whatever they want. The meeting is going on in Copenhagen now...will see what scam they come up with.

  • OK, I see your point. To be honest, I am not optimistic about the Copa conference either. There's is too much vested interest in the current human lifestyle. Nothing we can afford/willing to do can change things fundamentally. Buy us a bit more time, perhaps, but far insufficient to turn things around.

  • lol they don't exactly need a fog machine either if ya know what I mean.

  • I know what you mean and you're wrong. Air quality is much improved these past 2 yrs in Hong Kong. Why don't you come over and check it out yourself instead of relying on yrs old news!

  • It's on every nite from 8pm and it's FREE!!! Hong Kong rocks!

  • i have seen that :)

  • klasse die hab ich auch gesehen

  • Holy...mesmerizing!

  • Major cities around the world should have light show competitions!

  • i love hong kong!

  • DAAAM!

  • Beautiful city Manhattan of Asia HONG kong

  • It's its own city.

  • The symphony of lights is getting electroculted.

  • Hong Kong only sucks if you suck

  • HONG KONG'S DA BOMB!!!!

  • Does anyone has the Hong Kong Symphony Light Theme song? I love it and wanna go there again.

  • Hong Kong is most beautiful city in the world......

  • @2672964 agreed :D

  • @2672964 Excluding its horrible pollution

  • @ilovewii11 What do you mean horrible? Hong Kong's water and harbour have been cleaned up a long time ago. All big cities are noisy. And there's indeed some air pollution in HK. But it's improving. In any case, I'd like to see you show me 1 big city that's without pollution.

  • @ilovewii11 80% of the pollution's from mainland china.

  • @adrianroam95. The 20% is from YOU.

  • i miss hong kong i been there on hong konggg so nice place and very cleannn

  • I've been there! It's awesome! ON EVERY SINGLE NIGHT!!! O.o

  • :) im goin ther!

  • beautiful. this must be a great city!

  • wow

  • hong kong is the most amazing place in the world! ^_^

  • @SweetlySammie not really it is too polluted but I know why you say that! Heck, I love NYC!

  • How are you finding HK Bhuddawhisperer?

  • Why can't America be this cool? If only New York or San Francisco did this! Heck even Miami could pull this off if they had the lights.

  • I'm going to hong Kong in 2 weeks.....never been before.....can't wait:)

  • Hong Kong is amazing place!

  • lol at march 28-8.30-9.30 it is better than this!

  • there is no place can beat hong kong. not even NY and dubai=]

  • just got back from hong kong. it was my second visit and already i want to go back!

the light show is breathtaking first hand.

  • I was lucky to be anchored there for 6 weeks, the viewing platform is where we get dropped off/picked up by our service boats. The light show is amazing, was realy handy scince we went back to the ship around 2030.

  • Got back home to Australia this morning-waited an hour at the promenade of Star Ferry the other night to watch this-the pictures don't do it justice-Hong Kong is such a cool place-i can't wait to go back-Great Place!!!!!!!!

  • Hong Kong = what gotham city should look like in real life

  • hong kong is so pretty! XD

  • Thats insane!

  • Hong Kong is so "Gotham"

  • As you probably know, HK was ironically showcased in the "Dark Knight"

  • Why was it ironic? Puts Hong Kong's night beauty and mystique in front of the whole world on IN A GD WAY- unlike how slumdog millionaire portrays Mumbai.

  • Very impressive, but what's the music, it's terrible!? :p

And can you say "carbon footprint"?

  • No. It's called clean nuclear power.

  • Sorry, did I miss the amazing technological advance that rendered radioactive waste clean and safe? They bury that stuff in the ground, wrapped in concrete for goodness sake...

  • I wouldn't be surprised if my breathing becomes too much of a carbon footprint :P

  • I dunno, it's an equal exchange of O2 for CO2 so think I can let you off :p

  • The 2IFC's light show is too boring.

So what they should do to it to make it more special is this:

You know the white light on top of 2IFC? They should make each "fang" to change colors!

  • hong kong is amazing , went there september this year as well as vietnam

  • Do you guys know that there is a place where you control all these lights?

They computerize the buildings on what to do, such as changing colors, make pictures, and write on the buildings, such as "Welcome To Hong Kong"

I think that if they break the button, then all of Hong Kong's skyline would fade to black.

But because some buildings aren't attached to the button,

they keep their own remoter to themselves, so the people can't touch it.

I hope you guys learned something!

  • The entire Symphony of Lights show is runned and programmed through the internet via Laservision's Digital Data Pump II systems. Laservision is an Australian based lighting- and special-effects designhouse. They created and conceived the Symphony of Lights show. Google them sometime to learn more... Cheers!

  • Oh my your so smart! =D!

  • ok. now im little bit smarter :P

  • I wonder where's the core for the entire thing.

  • I have only just discovered your video. It is so good it reminds of the episode of "Outer-Limits" where someone discovers an audio transmission from an observatory and it causes them to mutate so as to avoid the rays from the Sun which has started to move more toward the ultra-violet end of the spectrum. bit of a long sentence that, sorry, I've had a long day and I am just chilling out at home and this video sort of blew my mind so to speak.

  • one man comes to mind ,?. janne michel jarre.

  • do you hear the music when watching it?

  • Yes, it comes out of speakers at the Kowloon harbourside.

  • Hong kong are the most modern and my favorite skyline at earlie 1990 it was New york!!

  • nice video, it makes a not so interesting show looks nice showing from different views (well, i can see it everyday here if i like ;-))

did you make the video in seperate days ?

  • Thanks... Yeah separate days, we spent one day in Kowloon and the second day close to the action just to get a few cutscenes.
