  • Shot a lot of them

  • I have a regular .22 savage its very accurate will it killl a groundhog?

  • @RedNeckSoloCupJr Of course it will kill a groundhog. I have shot over 20 with my rim fire .22. Try to keep your shots within 75 yds (100 max) and take only headshots. If you shoot them in the chest they will most likely make it back to their holes and expire there. There is no suffering with a headshot. You owe that to them.

  • @1964klc ok thx

  • mine is a savage 340, with bipod, very accurate. love shooting groundhogs.

  • @jda1961 Its a great caliber! Sorry for slow response, our home computer is down. Using one at work.

  • i bought my 22 hornet 25 years ago just for groundhogs.

  • im having a hard time finding a savage 340 in 22 hornet

  • @Deerdestroyer543 Well, that model is not made any more. My son has one in a 30-30 caliber. It is a great model. I'm sure they're some used ones around. But the 22 Hornet is still available in many other makes and models.

  • @Deerdestroyer543 Hey, try finding a 322 Model. My model is not stamped so i thought it was a 340? After more research i now believe it is a 322. Sorry about any confusion.

  • i was really thinking about gettin a 22 hornet, whats the model?

  • @Deerdestroyer543 Savage model 340. Whats nice about it is it has no recoil and only half as loud as a deer rifle! The farmer likes that part.

  • good shooting slick

  • @Mike1535 Thanks!

  • What twist is your barrel and what bullets do you like?

  • @captainpegs07 1 in 12 twist. Remington 45 grain Hollow points

  • @1964klc Got the same ammunition.

  • Looks like you had a good season that year, nice job. Thanks for your time and work!

  • @ejsst5 Thanks for your nice compliments!

  • Awesome shooting and thanks for taking the time to post the videos!

  • @ericroadking Thank You!

  • not over stretched... my .17 has got the heavy barrel, bipod, and a BSA sweet 17 scope that is adjustable out to 250 yds. At 350 i just hold right above the head and it does the job. Its an awesome groundhog gun.

  • @dariddler025 Your talking the .17 rim fire?

  • you otta try the .17 hmr mag ive killed hogs at 400+ in westmoreland county

  • @dariddler025 Wow! If that is TRUE you over stretched that rifle.

  • Awesome shooting man. I can't wait for hibernation to be over. Will be gunning for them again. Usually get about 3 or 4 per summer.

  • @cirethgr8 Thanks! Good to hear. What state?

  • @1964klc Michigan .

  • @cirethgr8 I agree! Hibernation ruins my winter-time! haha.

good hunting when its over though, bud!

  • Any of them named Phil?

  • @ExHicUtUruguay Lol, actually i wasn't on a first name basis with any of them!

  • what grain bullets are you putting through it ?

  • @ferretinpro 45 grain

  • Savage model 40, in 22 Hornet x 4x12 Bushnell scope. Bought it on the G/B site item # 183647112, the photos didn't do it justice, its a beauty. The original owner bought it on a whim, sighted it in @ 100 yds and had lost interest with it. Now to find what ammo it likes & a place with 1 to many ground hogs. Ka-pow!

  • @2at017 What caliber? Checkout my Pa Groundhog Hunt 3 if you have not seen it.

  • P.s. Love them slow motion shots lols

  • Awesome shooting there my friend , and in my opinion the tripod setup is better for us to see the shot ...keep up the awesome videos :-D

  • @abikerinpa Thanks! Your right, more messing around but it makes a better video!

  • i have some under my sun porch what should i do?

  • @seansosa Move! lol, no if you live close to other houses you could get a box trap or pay someone to trap them for you.

  • @1964klc i dont really want to pay the money...what about getting a air rifle..and removing them myself!?

  • @seansosa For a groundhog? It has to be a powerful one, not a cheap one either.

  • @seansosa i bought my savage mark 2 22lr 4 $170

  • This may be a stupid question but if i shoot a groundhog in the back with my .22 mag will he run in the hole and die or do you think it would drop him right there?

  • @Sunsballer4evr If you meant the spine, it will stay right there. If you meant through the lungs it might make it to the hole and die there.

  • Excellent long distance shooting for the 22 hornet (300 yards) and getting 1000 reloads from 1 pound of powder is nice too :) Enjoyed the video 100%, with excellent camera work (held steady) and what you did up to and right after the trigger was squeezed ... your verbal dialog was perfect... will visit again.

  • @2at017 Thanks for your nice comments!

  • i also live in pa i got 23 hogs last year with my 22 hornet its an amazing gun my longest shot was 292yds.

  • Great job!

  • Vapor train? u hit the dirt and luckey enough the rico got it~!

  • Yep

  • Good shootin!

  • Thanks!

  • I would not get a .17 unless it was a center fire! The Hornet is best up to 200 yards although I have had longer shots. But you need to aim a little high. Your never wrong with a 22-250!

  • are u shooting these animals for no reason? wow

  • No, the farmer ask me to shoot them because of all the damage they cause.

  • any suggestions for a new groundhog/varmint gun for about 25-300 yrds? that 22 hornet you use looks pretty sweet though....but maybe a 22-250?

  • Awsome shooting, luv ur videos, i shot 2 g-hogs today with my 22 mag. one at 10 yrds and one at 90 yrds.

  • Excellent .22 hornet shooting matey! I have a .22 hornet, great fun !!! What ammo are you using.....is is factory or are you using home loads? Keep up the good shooting fella

    Ste

  • Thanks! Factory rounds on all my guns. They shoot fine if you are steady enough!

  • Awesome long distance shooting. I just purchased a 17 HMR and I'm looking forward to some varmint hunting.

  • Thanks! Happy varmit hunting.

  • mint shooting man keep up the good shots and outta curiosity what did you pay for that gun and scope or was it a package deal?

  • Thanks! This is an old gun. 1940's It was my Dads. In fact when I got it, it wasn't even drilled out for a scope! I took it to a gun smith to have a scope bracket put on. This gun is old, but hardly ever shot. It has a lot of head shots left in it yet!

  • this summer im gonna spend everyday hunting these

  • They are fun to hunt! This will help your shooting skills and the land owner will love you.

  • Great shooting! Post again when you make that 22-250 upgrade maybe? Enjoyed it.

I'm curious, what's your farthest .22 LR 'chuck kill?

  • Thanks! My longest head shot with my .22 LR was 117 yards back in 1999

  • @1964klc: Sick shot. I'll post vids when I acquire my new rig.

  • Thanks, cool. Let me know

  • awsome video are u goin to make one for 2010 to ?

  • Thanks! Not planning on it. Unless I do one with the 22-250

  • ok cool did u retire the .22hornet i finaly got rid of mine

  • No, and I'm not planning on it. The lower noise of the Hornet is good for some of the places that I hunt.

  • i wasnt sure if u did or not when u said about the .22-250

  • looks a lot like my summer. good shooting its hard to pull off shots that far with the .22 me and my friend upgraded to a savage .17 HMR extremely accurate rifle.

  • Thanks! Yes, I heard that rifle is fine! Mine is a center fire not a rim fire. That lets me shot a lot further.

  • .22hornet is a center fire rifle the 35v-max is traveling at 3100fps at the muzzel

  • i guess u dont have to wear all camo for groundhogs???

  • No, in Pa. we must at least wear a orange hat.

  • What do you do after killing the groundhog ?

Are they edible ? Is the pelt sold ? I'm a city boy never hunted anything.

  • Sorry to hear you have never went hunting before. Its a privilege to be able to go. I don't eat them but lots of people I know do and say they taste good. I lay them by the field edge and the coyotes and foxes eat them usually before the next evening.

  • Great job on the second video. Nice shots.

  • Thank You!

  • Excellent shooting Kyle! 300 yards is really pushing it for the .22 Hornet, but it looks like you pulled that shot off quite nicely.

Subscription added... keep up the good work!

  • Thanks! I put the crosshair right on the top of his hair line. Almost didn't get him. My longest shot ever was a 380 yard headshot. I aimed 8 inches high and 5 inches to the left for wind. I got lucky. That was before I got my small camera.

  • lucky is right cause you know how easy .22 gets blown by wind great vid tho =)

  • if i win the lottery i know what my new summer past time will be good bye halo 2

  • are you using a suppresor on that rifle? because it sounds like it for some of the shots

  • No I am not.

  • so what state u in

  • Pa.

  • Good shootin, that .22 hornet looks like a great little varmint round.

  • Thanks! It's actually the first round ever made specifically for varmints. Around 1930? Then so many other and better rounds were made and the Hornet took the back shelves. In the 1970's The Hornet became real popular again. Its quiet and no recoil! Around 200 - 250 yds would be about its max range. On occasion I push it a little farther.

  • excellent video good shooting keep up the good work

  • Thank You!

  • Hey, I'm not trying to embarass you, I hunt as well and miss a sometime.s I was wondering If you have ever missed? Like has a groundhog ever moved as you took a shot? Thank's your video's are amazing!

  • Thanks! Of course I miss sometimes. And its not because the groundhog moves either. Sometimes I'm just not steady enough.

  • Where at in pa do u hunt i live up in northern pa and have been lookin for a good place to hunt where i can get longer shots with my 223

  • Somerset County

  • Boy, you're awful hard on the whistle pigs! Nice shooting.

  • Thanks Jr!

  • I like it when the hogs stand up, and then you knock then back down!

  • that must be dialed in

  • awsome shooting i kill them with a 20 gauge and a 22mg my grandapa has a 22 hornet i really want to have when he goes

  • Thanks, ask him to borrow it now! He might be happy to see that someone takes interest in it.

  • great videos im going woodchuck hunting in my backyard with a paintball gun i might get it on tape

  • Thanks, if i shoot one with paint on it I will know it was you!

  • hehe shoot him in the head for me

  • Very nice.

  • Thanks!

  • Great one Kyle, I have a few kills that I have on video to get out shortly from this June and July. Can't get in the time hunting this year like I did last year.

  • Thanks! Let me know when it is out. I enjoyed your other videos.

  • Great shooting, Kyle! I know a lot of people have been waiting for this video to come out!

  • Thanks! Yes several people have been asking for another. It sure was a lot of extra messing around using a camera.

  • 5 stars great video. Only groundhog jobs I have been getting are in the suburbs so everything is fairly close. Keep up the good work :)

  • Thank you! Please rate again it was turned off.
