Whenever I fell like it, I get in my Mustang Cobra, drop the top and go cruising on a Sunday afternoon here in Southern Cal - and I play this jam at FULL volume - always turns heads - even the morons listening to today's crap.
Paul Hardcastle has got to be one of the worlds greatest instrumentalist, man.... hands down. He's created music from electro to some of the sexiest smooth tracks ever recored.
First and foremost Paul Hardcastle is English, and secondly singing a rap, pop song about a war where 55,000 american servicemen and 1 million Vietnamiese people lost their lives is sick
To be honest many people would say its commercial shit. But beleive me people this guy is a genius. You should hear his Jazz.A true modern musician, who also won a grammy.Respect.
It only became commercial because it was too damn awesome to stay underground, people loved it because it was and still is sheer brilliance. Music like this gets discovered & it just blows up.
This man is a musical god , and totally inspired me to make music and Dj
I loved Paul's music well before 19 and back to the days of First Light ,
I will never forget the first time I heard 19 on Radio 1Tuesday tea time it sent shivers down my spineand still does now , I would love to have beer or a cup a tea with the man .
What I'll NEVER understand is why when our guys came home they didn't get a Hero's welcome. What was wrong with the dumbass people back then. Our guys DIDN'T have a choice the goverment sent them but it seemed like the plain people back then held it against our guys which was WRONG. To this very day those people should feel ASHAMED of their selves. YOU BACK YOUR TROOPS NO MATTER WHAT. I can't even begin to think what our guys were going through when there own people turned there backs on them
It was not usa's buisness to enter vietnam. It was a huge error on the usa goverments part to "help" in the vietnam war. Thousands of us soldiers died for nothing. Nothing was achieved by this war about from death. Make me worry about 10 years time, will it be china or the russians, God help us
Damn dog did you miss read what I posted? Doesn't look like it. I NEVER once said that we should have been over there. I hate war just as bad as the next person. Those men and women didn't have any say in the matter, they had to go. But my thing is get mad at the goverment NOT OUR TROOPS. What I'm trying to get across to stupid azz people from the 60's and 70's who treated our people when they came back like SH**. I'm like this YOU BACK YOUR TROOPS I don't give a F*** weather it's right or wrong
Calm your fucking nerves man. as for having to go i remember a Boxer that declined vietnam, now what was hime.... Oh yesh Muhammed ali. War is a hostile enviroment and troops to have to go to war, but then they have the choice to join and to play the goverments dangerous games
A poignant reflection disguised as slick electro-pop. Art does not get better than that. By the way, Paul has really stepped up his stage show! Thanks for the vid.
When I was in Vietnam in 1968, I would have easily killed the person that could have possibly thought of this song. As a young Marine at that time, I was, just 19. I'm now 58. My grandson told me about this song, and I finally heard it. I am overcome with emotions that I havn't had in 40 years. You are a genius.
indeed, that girl is maxine hardcastle (if she still carries that family name ;o) ). who can remember her voice on songs like "let´s look to the future"..... how cute it was at that time. BTW, paul hardcastle is still in the business, and he´s still successful with his project "jazzmasters" and hie record label "trippin´ records". i respect him alot!
I didn't know he performed live shows like this either. That's news to me I rarely if ever have heard of any live shows. I wonder how much tickets had cost for this event.
Paul Hardcastle creo yo q es el mejor exponente conocido del Electro Británico junto al World Famous Supreme Team de Malcolm Mc Laren. En el 19 original no uso Karma, mas bien un Fairlight.
