  • Besides all the obvious positive comments, this set-up also sounds really sweet.

  • LS engines since 1996 have had the most power to weight and size ratio then any other naturally aspirated production engine...

  • performance potential is probably more or less equal twixt the subie and sbc but the subie is lighter and the weight is lower. I used to own a 914 with an sbc but I would not do it that way again. too much weight. you can lose weight in other categories but that would be even more weight if you had a scoob.

  • I love it when people get all worked up for no reason: these are opinions people. I am not sure about the exact weight of the subaru conversion. But I just converted my '73 to a 2.7l flat six from a 911s (with webers). The total weight ended up being within 75# of what I would have expected with a SBC w/ aluminum heads. I'm sure there are some sweet subie 914's out there, but there are a lot of very well sorted, well balanced, light, FAST sbc conversions and have been for a long time.

  • sounds incredible !!

  • looks like a wanna be lotus...but you got a chevrolet now....

  • @darkeyce02 except that the 914 is a better chassis design by virtue of its simplicity and cost effectiveness. Not to mention that the new lotus look is more of a wanna be 914 than the other way around.

  • @quickcooper61 hardly, the mr2 looks more like a 914 than the lotus lol

  • Subaru's are Japanese cars, just because Croccodile Dundee was in the commercials doesn't mean they're Australian.

  • @Silverstreak350Z yeah they are japanese but they think theyre australian with the flag as their logo

  • Excellent conversion! I'm currently working on a 944/LS1 conversion and am really looking forward to taking it out on the streets!!

  • sumbaru is austrailian and they could woop any chevy.. chevy hass the cobalt? the aveo? hmm good matches. i give props to the z06 and zr1 though i love those cars

  • the chevrolet LS-series smallblock V-8 is so damned versatile.....plug it into just abou anything and watch it haul ass. I can appreciate the flat-opposed engine layout of the original(and the Subaru fans), but niothing sounds as pissed-off as a V-8 at full song. Just my worthless.002.....LOL

  • true, as i mentioned before, but still, i think the EVO's engine is lighter, and would make up for the CG difference in the straights and probably be equal in the turns because it's lighter, or maybe not

  • what body kit is that? why the v8? the subie is a better conversion. Its hundreds more reliable and its lighter. so with a few mods, its WAY lighter and its 450 rwhp, instead of a chevy heavy lose the trunk conversion, go with the ol reliable asian light keep the sound/ engine layout conversion.

  • The body kit is totally handbuilt custom. Must be a Subie fanboi because nobody in their right mind would think a Subaru engine is a better conversion than an SBC. The SBC isn't as heavy as you might think, and is boatloads more power and fun to drive than anything out of Japan.

  • im not a big subie fan at all. in fact, i prefer chevy. but you do have a point. im just saying, for practicality, its easier to keep the trunk with the subie. also, the unequal length headers keep a somewhat authentic sound to the 914. and the engine is easier to fit because its an h layout like the vw engine that comes in a 914.

  • @voodooturbo agreed... makes me laugh how most people that bash them dont know anything about them...

  • @voodooturbo You must be out of YOUR right mind saying that "nobody in their right mind would think a Subaru engine" ... looks like *you're* the fanboy. Certainly a SBC has it's pros and cons vs a turbo flat 4. The weight in said such engine is very low in the chassis compared to a V8. We can go on and on but considering your such a hypocrite it wouldn't be a friendly debate with you ... just an argument.

  • contd...honestly, neither of us has an argument. the best engine to put in that car, would probably be a lightened evo engine. its 2.0l, and without all the crap they add on for the 4wd, im not sure, but i think it'd be likghter than the subie or the sbc conversion, and again, the turbo asain thing is highly reliable. also can you get me any info possible on 914 conversions. im not the most educated person. thanks for the help man. btw, BODY KIT IS AMAZING!!

  • hundreds more reliable?........you are an idiot - the chevy can be made to make 1000hp or more easily with forced induction

  • @accordv6er

Dude, that SBC probably gives the car and overall better weight-balance, and has WAY more potential for high horsepower.

  • @accordv6er

If you're insinuating that Subaru engines are more reliable than the GM LS - series engines than you don't know much about engines. And no LS engines aren't heavy at all. However I do agree with you that the Subaru swap would've been better.

  • @accordv6er Even instead of a Chevy LS6, he could have used a 928's V8 and probably wouldn't need an adapter plate or anything.

  • that's my buddy bill. that car is ultimate, you have to see it to really appreciate it.

  • That looks sooo fun . I want one.

  • That thing is set up pretty nice.
