This song reminds me of the allied mission were you are pushing deep into Russia when Stalin attempts to launch nuclear weapons to wipe out all of Europe.
Very intense and grave and this song perfectly describes it.
These days, developers just don't make well developed campaigns which are actually made of quality. Westwood knew how to make a great single player campaign. Its a shame that Westwood had to be bought out.

@SeanMacGregor1 I couldn't agree more, especially once they bought them out they started to overtagg when they rereleased the Red Alert games with EA over them, now they state it was one of their greatest achievements back then... was nothing to do with them at the start?! Completely agree though with what you said. I think it's a rarity to get a game with a good overall balance
I just loved listening to this music as the Soviets against the Allies Massive and powerful Naval Fleets :)
Listening to it always makes me think of a cruiser making it's way up to try and shell my base. Red Alert 1 was the best of the lot; both the soviets and the allies had unique advantages. I hated when they introduced Balance in Red Alert 2 sure it was good but balance is not what C&C is about! It's about the unique advantages each side had. In Red Alert 2 you don't fear the allied navy
@Damocles178 The problem with Red Alert 1 is that the imbalance was kind of ridiculous. It was much more serviceable in Red Alert 2. In RA1 Allies were outmatched on ground, air, and defense. Teching up didn't change much about this. In RA2, Allies are still the weakest at first but Battle Lab makes them badass.
In red alert one, the soviets while they did have much more powerful tanks and defenses and airforce had a crappy infantry force and and a crappy anti infantry force with few support vehicles (with the exception of flamethrowers). While the allies had cheaper but faster tanks. Personally i thought the soviets while they did have better tanks and defenses had it harder than the allies, but that's just my opinion.
@SeanMacGregor1 The side with grenadiers, flamethrowers, AND rocket soldiers can hardly be considered to have "crappy" infantry. The only part that sucked about Soviet infantry was that they didn't have a medic, or Tanya in campaign. Tanya was the only thing that made Allied infantry "good". You are right that Soviets didn't have much convenient anti-infantry. AP mine layers are cumbersome. Hind and Yaks are expensive and not worth it. V2 has a very long reload.
If someone where to correct the AI in the game and put it to the market again, they would make a fortune. This is by far the best game of strategy. Who cares about graphics?? The plot is much more important, in my opinion.
The music and cutscenes alone were worth it. but the exciting mission made the game even better. now it's just kill the enemy. If they ever make a new C&C (probably a new Generals) they should learn from this. Generals has good music, it only lacks awesome missions and good cutscenes.
What I like about this track the best is how Frank slowly puts in instruments one by one at the beginning. You can tell the man really cared about his work.
What a game. Even though there are new RTS games with much, much better graphics, online capability etc The original Red Alert has yet to be bettered.
@darthbandon10 what makes this game superior to other C&C is the fact you had real missions. It wasn't just destroy the enemy. The cutscenes after each defeat or loss and the awesome music. The way games should be.
I liked it even more than Hell March, which was brilliant too.
This piece makes me feel like I'm looking at the graves of many fallen soldiers, caused by the grey and cold death of WWII. No hopes, no colours, no gain, only death is at your destination.
This song and game are how old now? And this song is still pretty freakin' badass. A testament to Frankie's older work.

The slow, nerve racking moments in those trenches...the screams...the blood...the fear...
Then courage.
An infantry aussalt to the enemy.
Rise up from your trenches and face the enemy!
Fight for your country!
Fight for your freedom!
One final aussalt to end the battle!

Actually it was lagging in interface, map and AI terms by the time Aftermath was released. Very little in the way of naval and aerial units either.
