I'm not quite sure what you mean. However, you need to render your videos at least 720p, which is a resolution of 1280x720 pixels.

I don't have an HD cam. I just rendered the video in HD, so YouTube plays it in "HD".

The odd thing is that if I watch in HD, it seems to play back at fewer frames per second.
Probably an issue at my end because it looks like 29 or 30 fps in "normal" quality.

That is odd. I'm not getting that here. Maybe it could be your internet connection speed. Sometimes when my internet connection is acting up, I'll get that. That happens mostly when I'm using my wireless connection.
