how do they scramble the cubes? do they get a computer to give out instructions or does someone just make it up?

The scrambles are give out from a computer program.. and everyone has the same scramble for the 1st solve..then everyone has the same for the 2nd solve an so on...

each sized cube has a different number of moves that require it to be fully scrambled. And yes, there is a computer program that generates scrambles.

Maybe u r right, my Minesweeper Intermediate record of 7,88s (inofficial, because 3bv=29) used to be better than 3x3 WR, but Erik pwned it with his 7,08 :S

True Erik, but 39.83 - 3.59 = 36.24 seconds of solving on the video, plus the split second of reaction at the end.

This video is only 31 seconds long.

Little bits were just cut by the camera.
