  • GREAT a real country singer lived the songs he sings this dude is for real love it

  • What a great rendition. Too bad the audience wouldn't shut up. It must be exhausting to sing into a vacuum. Jamey sounds old school, for what it's worth.

  • no one could cover this song better than chris young

  • @garyallanfan0206 haaaaa, try lookin up bradley gaskins cover, chris young aint got shit on it

  • Jamey is definitely the best since Keith Whitley. I'm glad the Nashville music execs can't see how good he his and that Jamey doesn't even care if they can't. That's part of the reason hes so good.......and yes those dummies yakking in the background don't deserve to even have been there.

  • listen to the idiots jabbering that is jamey johnson a soon to be legend and one of the only hopes for country music left .... good rendition of this song

  • excellent

  • What makes Jamey Johnson so great is his reverence for the great songwriters and singers of country's past. This Keith Whitley hit was from the pen of the great Bob McDill. Even if you don't know his name you KNOW his music. "Gone Country". "Song of the South" "Good Ol' Boys Like Me" "Standing Knee Deep In A River (Dying of Thirst". McDill is one of the best songwriters. Add Jamey Johnson to that list. THE GUITAR SONG is a masterpiece.

  • @hooeybrown Thanks for the info, sometimes songwriters, even the best of um get shuffled out of the picture, in the country music industry! One of my favorite things at the country music Hall Of Fame was a session with a song writer, it was cool to here about the long process of getting a song played on the radio, not to mention actually get paid for it.....

  • THE NEW KING,,,,,not his tone though

  • THE NEW KING

  • The uniqueness of JJ's voice just makes you feel the music. Plus his music is real and he covers songs from back when country music was truly music from the heart,,, This guy is the best country artist not being played on country radio !

  • OMG.....I freaking LOVE this song! I am so glad we have a REAL singer out there that isn't afraid to ROCK (NOT MURDER) a classic!

  • came on this site because someone on Waylon's site mentioned it. Have to say that even though I REALLY liked Waylon and Jamey sings a real decent country song in the old style when country was country and not pop, Keith was the best of the best and I doubt anyone will ever touch him again. Way to go Jamie for keeping his memory going. How could we ever forget the man who sang the best bluegrass and country, "Mr Golden Tonsils" got to love Keith.

  • @ThePurecountrygal

you ever read keith's book? written by lorrie morgan simply fantastic. Faithfully yours; the love of my life keith whitley

  • This is COUNTRY music! I'm a fan of both Jamey Johnson and the late Keith Whitley. I'm 20 and I was raised on Willie, Waylon, Johnny Cash, and Hank Sr., Jr. , among other country legends. If I had the talent to do it, I would sing country music 'til the day I die, but I don't...so I'll leave it to the pros. I'm afraid Jamey Johnson is the last of a dying breed, I hope I'm wrong. Here's to country music and long live it!

  • @mossyoak444 check out my site its a little raw but is country my site is waynescountry

  • Damn I miss Keith Whitleys music. Keith would still be putting out real country if his love affair with the whiskey bottle wouldn't have killed him. Hats off to Jamey, he does a good job and he is one of the few real "country" singers left.

  • If you're seein him at the Tennessee Theatre in K-Town......I'll be right there with ya!

  • Wooohooo...I'll see ya there tnwhiskey!!!

  • @tnwhiskey I was right there brother! loved it when he said "I play what the fuck I want to!"

  • @akb330 That's was damn hilarious. The fight down below me wasn't too bad neither. I saw it coming way before it ever started....lol. Hope he's back in Knox-Vegas soon. He has earned a lifetime fan in me.

  • Wholly SH*T!!! Tears to my eyes!! Jamey is one amazing artist!!! 3 weeks and I get to see him!!

  • my favorite singer of today with my favorite singer song from the 80's..youngin's please learn a little about country before you comment. He is a great singer songwriter. period. He will be in the same breath as the greats in 10-15 years. He is no dancing chicken........ala pure country.

  • jamey johnson is the real deal....not these pop star country music singers like most are....awesome cover!

  • RIP Keith Whitley glad to see a traditional country man like Jamey covers your song.

  • I wish that the morons in the audience would shut the fuck up, so we can hear one of the Top 5 country songs in country music history!

  • WOOOOO! Can't wait until JJ comes to Spartanburg, SC in NOV.

  • Real country right here. Cant wait to see him in August.

  • Actually, this is great. Waylon covered a lot of different songs in his outlaw days. He did Chevy Van, Sweet Caroline, and others. That's a lot of what made him great. Waylon would've covered this sone if Keith Whitley had done it in the '70's. Waylon was strong enough to sing what he wanted. If you didn't like it, screw you. Waylon had a cock while other singers, and so many today, had weenies.

  • Amen.

Waylon and Merle had monster cocks.

  • ha ha lol!!

  • @ftluvr1170 amen man.

  • This can't really can't be compared to Whitley. It's two different things. It's like comparing Waylon to Jones. I dig it. It's real.

  • as real as it gets tho!

  • Not as stout as Keith Whitley. But a fair job all in all.
