Nice, man. I had exact same organized map, and truth be told, I beat it in the first try. Mind you, I had expanded so much that I waited out the last 3 or so minutes being pounded, but I won, first try. Your mining strat. is remarkably similar to mine, too. Maybe that's the key? If I interpret what you're doing correctly, you're using "webs" of cheap relays to distract attackers and give them something inane to shoot at... thereby protecting miners and weapons?

Seems like an exploit.

Yeah. It's really easy once you know how to block carriers and enemy ships. You just have to spam twenty or so basic lasers backed by two or three repair ships. That will block almost any enemy. And you can use conduits to get close to carriers, once their fighters are exhausted, and destroy them. With that, and maybe fourteen solar power things you can get the mining rate to around 14000 a minute by 8 minutes in with ease.
