i think it convays a powerful message i could imagine the young german pumped full of nazi retoric would rather die than surrender that thought that skin color or eye color or hair color or size or sex or language etc etc etc somehow makes one man better than the next--and yet the speaker knowing deep in his heart that through all this he is no better than this german trancends all human barriors if we can only listen for the man crying in the night
