  • Where's Tom Kennedy? I can't find the Tom Kennedy I remembered doing the Game Show "Split Second".

  • Everytime I remembered Dick Lane, I can't stop thinking about him announcing either Wrestling, or Roller Derby on KTLA-TV Channel 5- Los Angeles. And during his times of announcing Championship Wrestling back in the Late 60's or Early 70's he would do his Reliable Mortgage Corporation commercials in his own little Announcers Booth during Wrestling. Does anyone here in Los Angeles ever remember stuff like that?

  • wonder if anyone else ever noticed that dick lane's voice sounded similar to Al Jolson's. I grew up with 'Whoa Nellie" and always made this connection.

  • Whooo Nellie! Thats Dick Lane doing all the talking. Dick Lane became a sports guy for KTLA Channel 5 in Los Angeles in the sixties where the showed roolerderbys, car races at Ascot raceway, and a lot of wres'lin. Good times.

  • You're right...and you can check out more Richard "Dick" Lane stuff (info and photos) on my blog (link on my main YouTube page), and on my Joe Penner website (link in my info box).

  • Thanks for the updates and info. There's even an old time radio site I'm sure you're aware of, that has a Baker's B-Cast and Park Ave Penners show in their entirety. However, the Bakers is not in such great shape and difficult to listen to.

  • yeehah...a new penner video!

  • And more to come...

  • Bravo! Can't wait! How about more clips from College Rhythm? I see that the DVD is being sold on ebay. How's the quality of the print?

  • The "College Rhythm" DVD currently offered on eBay isn't bad. It seems to be from a film print, or a very clean VHS. The "Collegiate" print is of lesser quality, but watchable. Haven't seen the "Boys From Syracuse" DVD yet, but it is offered by the seller of "Collegiate," so it is probably comparable to that title.

I have all ten Penners on VHS (plus "New Faces" on LaserDisc), and I'll add scenes here when I have time, but the goal is to link everything through my Joe Penner site.
