@b1dodge You got it. Arctic Cat is the only way to go, although a buddy of mine just bought a brand new 2010 pro rmk800 i think it is? Its really nice. I cant wait to see it out on the mountain.
@MTBLTZ I think the pro rmk will do well. Motor and mapping issues I think are behind them. I road a pro last spring and didnt feel it had enough poop... the motor felt lazy...It could have been preproduction set up or whatever. It felt light and was very quick to rider input but seemed edgy and not as easy to side hill and change direction as the M... felt like a very weak XP IMO ...need more power... but im sure with boost it will be a great sled.
@MTBLTZ i dunno we have a 6000 ft mountain we take our rmk's up and its pretty much pinning it the whole way up. you get to the top of one hill and there's another one right infront of you, takes about an hour to reach the summit.
i for one do not want to see him buried ...and i damn sure dont want to be...but the fact is i have climbed this hill a million times in the last 10 years and it has never slid....does that mean it will never slide ..????? no!! but sleds are a dangerous sport and we all take risks to do what we love and i know cooper will never stop and and i know i never will so the best we can do is try to make the best choices on the mountain and have as much fun as possible:)
i ride all my sleds like that and have been for many years and these sleds never let me down. all manufacturers build there sleds to run at WOT for extended periods. The minute the stop holding up to my abuse is the minute i buy something else :)
this sled had a ypipe and jaws can. all of my sleds have stock pipes but now they have a funny looking muffler on the end of the pipe. looks a lot like a turbo!!!! and it adds about 150 hp :) BOOST BABY!!!!!!!
it was a joke. the tubo is on the end of the pipe like a muffler would be. im well aware of how much power an exhaust system makes. but my turbo m8 makes near 300hp on 14 pounds of boost. the m8 is 150 approx. stock so thats where i came up with the 150hp exhaust system.
thats in the perfect world my friend. extremely low humidity and at sea leave. everything comes into play. you might be getting 80-100 hp out of 15 psi.
yes i understand this. my biz is race engines (automotive) and has been for 24 years. thousands of hours of dyno work. i am speaking in corrected terms my friend as all dynos use corrected numbers. i personaly couldnt care less about the hp numbers. i have 8 sleds 3 on boost. the boosted sleds on the hill make the n/a sleds look silly. this all started when i made a joke about the funny looking muffler on the end of the pipe (turbo) i sure wont make that mistake again.
idn man, my old sks triple, bored out, shaved head, ported and polished, reeds, the hole shabable would out climb anything. like the old saying goes, no replacement, for displacement.
i have my own company B1 Performance and i have contracts with strasburg racing in lindon utah. i have done anything from your basic street engines to pro mod, T/A dragster, to top fuel. search strasburg racing they are brothers lindsay mike (driver) and jeff (crew chief) we do a limited schedule in nhra but have beat up on tony S (army car) larry dixon and doug kallita to name a few. we are just boys in a mans world for sure but we do very well for being a small budget best E.T. 4.49@330 mph
and as far as there is no replacement for displacement theory....your right. thats why the sled in this video now has a 1200 big bore on it from D&D and a twisted turbo at 18 lbs :)
you can keep on wide open throttle for quite a long time on 2 stroke engine it nothat hard on it cause its working if you wide open throttle on flat ground for a long tim ethen you sledd will blow up but other than that its not hat hard on it
no, whats NOT good for a sled is no discipline, whats GOOD for a sled is to do mad pow turns and sick side hills, you must ride the shit out of your sled. worse comes to worse, HELI it out, theres a story!
i dont know how you can ride in the mountains in deep snow and not keep it at wide open throttle. year 26 riding sleds for me and i ride them this way every year......check out the vids of my tm8....im on the gas much longer and at 8lbs of boost on 91 octane gas and it just keeps on smiling :). people have many more problems leaving there sleds at part throttle for an extended period than the dp at wot....
i prefer the 162 but it fits my riding style. some might prefer the 153 if they are a lighter person and mabe perfers to jump. it also has a lot to do with what you ure used to. the m sled allows the use of a longer track without sacrificing manuverability.
if your going to be up in the mountains in the steep and deep get the 162 but if your gonna be playing booning and jumping the 153 would be better dont get me wrong the 153 will still do great in the mountains but the 162 will get a little bit higher.both are great choices because they are arctic cat cant go wrong there:)
i think the ski-doo 800 is better or even the dragon. the m1000 is just too dam heavy. however, nowadays i am sure the m series is much better/lighter
my m1000s would hit the snow at 555 full of gas oil ready to ride. is that heavy? compared to a skidoo xp 800, yes. but this is a 1000 and has much more power. the skidoo is light and powerful for sure but is no match for my m1000s and is not even in the same zip code as my tm8. :)
i love the klim helmet. it is lighter than any helmet iv worn and a never sweat put never get cold. as far as the quik strap...when its cold i dont know how you can live without one.
lol well i was just wondering if u ever came up there u should ride with me and couple other guys (next year) we all know where were going and always like to have new people along with us
thanks to you and everyone for watching my vids! im not a pro rider as you can see but i do enjoy showing them almost as much as making them :) and yes me 2 little girls (megan 8 and the newest ava) will always be riding with me.
Wow thats a bad experience, right now i got a cat which i love but i want something a bit lighter but now that ive heard you went through 4 belts i dunno if i can afford one lol
i think they will have the issues worked out for 09 so dont let my problems stop you. it really is a great sled. but also the 09 cats are near 30 pounds light if you spring check(boss seat) so we will see what happens next year. both are great sleds
You guys are great riders but the sleds...... I have an A/C myself and they are only good for the first maybe 3 years of riding then they are crapp. I have broken soo many things I'm selling my peice and getting a polaris RMK 700!!!!!
i ride one in my togwatee video. in fact iv put over 300 miles on one this year and except for the 4 belts, broke driveshaft, blown rear shock that are backordered untill august, clutch roller and cover bushings, dpm line that fell off, hand warmers not working, seat cushion broke down, the heads of three chaincase bolts breaking off for no reason creating a leak, it was a great sled.:(
iv got a 2005 king cat with aprox. 5000 miles on it and about 500 pounds of n.o.s. run through it that still runs like a top, a 06 m7 162 le with near 7000 miles..and a fleet of 04 and older sleds that stay at the cabin that somehow keep right on running
damn man that sled looks awesome and the climbing looked fun to ......im lookin to get a newer sled for my son hes 12 he has a 600 now would you recomend a M7 or do you kno of any other good sleds for him cuase hes really experienced in the mountains hes comes with me and my friends all the time .
