It's not going to be a rehash. A rehash is when you use the exact same composition but with different instruments and such. These are going to be rearranged, possibly orchestrated versions of the SFII themes. Like Chun-Li's theme, for example.

I havent heard DJs theme yet if they made one for him, but what Im saying is most of the themes in SF4 are remixes of their Street Fighter II themes (besides the people who werent in it, like Sakura/Rose).

They didnt bother looking to the other games of the series at all like Alpha 3, the VS games, etc

It's a direct sequel to Street Fighter 2, it's what the fans want, when they got new characters in SFIII, they cried. I personally like the remixed themes, the characters can change, but their music is their signature. And what better signature to have from the biggest series in fighting game history, Street Fighter2.

@somonesetusupthebomb Alpha 3 DOES have some generic themes, but that doesn't make them bad. Some stand out, like Sodoms X-Ism theme. Dee Jays is great, too. As is parts of Vegas Theme. I loved Evil Ryu, too. So, yeah, repetetive at points, but not bad. But I agree, SFA2 had some incredible themes and they at least all sounded different. Adon's, in particular, was incredible. But not all calssic is good. DJ's SUCKED ASS in SFII. SFA3 theme is best for him.

@mercturq @Renegade466isback As both a Star Wars and a Capcom fan, I gotta chime in. If something is re-released, yeah the same, or maybe ENHANCED music should be used.

However for a sequel using similar music that captures part of the essence of the original is very fitting. SF Alpha had a certain musical style and they tried to remain consistent. At the same time capturing the light calypso beat from Dee Jay's original theme.

Street Fighter alpha 3 had absolutely no similar themes at all. Just go search for alpha 2 themes and listen to a few of them and then listen to their alpha 3 counterparts. I'm not saying that the alpha 3 songs are bad, hell I love Bison's theme.. but you should keep them somewhat similar.

That is one of the many reasons why Castlevania is deemed to be have one of the best video game music tracks, even today/

@mercturq @Renegade466isback  A similar concept, in Star Wars Ep I Anakin's theme plays a rendition of "The Imperial March" which is Darth Vader's theme. And we know Anakin becomes Darth Vader. So that's one example of adapting a theme so it fits with the new style, but references it's roots.

@mercturq well first off SFA3 isn't a re-release so that argument is somewhat invalid, SFA3 is a stand-alone game, one in it's own and it has it's place in the series, a better statement would've been "What would you think if they made a brand new Star Wars movie and had all the music be all techno remixes that sound nothing like the originals" which again brings me BACK to my point of SFA3 being it's OWN game, these themes aren't meant to be throwbacks to SSF2 so of course it sounds different.

Well, as I'm sure you know, the game designers were just trying to remind all of us, in case we forgot, that Dee Jay is in fact black. So they made his teeth REALLY white. Unlike the rest of his skin, which, without question, is of dark pigmentation.

That is completely unfair, this is why when I saw Drebin in Metal Gear Solid 4 I jumped up and said, FINALLY!
