The baby giraffe was severely shocked when it went down, giraffes are very sensitive and can die from fright and shock. It lay unmoving, and then was too weak to get up, this is hardly a good thing, very dangerous. The mother was right to try to keep her baby isolated until it was stronger, the forced mingling of older giraffes with the mother and baby could have resulted in a tragedy. Once again clueless people mess up natural behavior by forcing an issue.
