Why do people live in the past about slavery? Isn't there anything in the present that needs more attention? Maybe if people would not be so quick to scream racism more people would actually listen. Here are some facts pertaining to the slave trade...
1) There was "slavery" inside Africa, but it was rather loosely defined and almost certainly nothing like the intergenerational/plantation style slavery we see in this hemisphere from 1600-1878.
2) There certainly was a "non-white" slave trade.....involving Arabs....in fact that slave trade was huge and remnants of the shameful practice exist with Arabs still taking black africans as slaves.

apparently it wasn't always like this, if you read the book "neither black nor white" slavery was at first poor white people and Africans. they worked for several years for a free passage to America. however too many people were getting freed and there was not enough labor coming in from Britain, so the British government purposely instituted slavery, they tried native Americans but they died from english diseases and could run away to nearby tribes so that left Africans, creepy right?

Here are some facts pertaining to the slave trade...
1) There was "slavery" inside Africa, but it was rather loosely defined and almost certainly nothing like the intergenerational/plantation style slavery we see in this hemisphere from 1600-1878.
2) There certainly was a "non-white" slave trade.....involving Arabs....in fact that slave trade was huge and remnants of the shameful practice exist with Arabs still taking black africans as slaves.

The Christian whites that enslaved blacks treated black slaves as less than humans, beat, killed, and raped them.The Bible tells in the book of Ephesians chapter 5 i believe, that masters should treat slaves with respect because they have the same father in heaven.I thank God for John Brown, William Lloyd Garrison, and the people of Ripley, Ohio.
