  • this is gorgeous! just beautiful!

  • catholicsm is also clearly not biblical

  • Although Mormons are usually friendly, loving, and kind people, they are deceived by a false religion that distorts the nature of God, the Person of Jesus Christ, and the means of salvation.

  • I will say this much. The MTC has the best group of tenors anywhere. Wow, those guys are spectacular!

  • Since all of these super intelligent you tube comments have made me self aware enough to know that typically most churches are false according to who posted the comment. I have hear by solved the problem by deciding to randomly go to a different church every Sunday for the rest of my life by just picking one blindfolded in the yellow pages every week. Thanks You Tube!!!!

  • Thank you for posting this beautiful performance. My youngest son was gearing up for a tantrum, so I quickly searched for this title and somewhat randomly picked this one. Within a minute he was completely calm and pleasant.

  • I sang this for church it was awesome!!!

  • perfection nuff said

  • Sounds real nice to me too.

  • too holy for me to handle myself not to appreciate

  • Regardless of my beliefs, this was sung exceptionally and is, as always, quite moving. Thank you for the upload!

  • Why does everything always have to come down to religion? Can't you guys just listen to the song and be happy?

  • @gloinstrong you may disagree with our beliefs, but everyone has their own opinions. When they refer to eternal progression of Gods, we believe that we will become like God. Since there are a lot of people, we can conclude there will be many people who become like God.

  • Religion is really simple people. While it may not be in any book directly, it is this: If it makes you a better person for it, then do it.

Religion was never meant to divide, but unfortunately humanity got involved and took whatever was divine about it, out.

  • The Roman Catholic Church was Christ's gift to humanity....ALL others are "rebels"....and so was Lucifer....!!!

  • @Mackaronni Hey; you're forgetting us byzantines over here! There are 16 other churches in union with Rome, you know!

  • I guess anyone can be an armchair theologian

  • Irony about Mormons singing about Jesus' birth, is that in the back of their minds, they think SATAN is the spirit brother of Jesus. The mormonism cult at its best.

  • @gloinstrong : Read your Bible. Satan, who is Lucifer, is a son of the morning who is fallen from heaven. Jesus is the Son of God. You do the math. Peace.

  • @gloinstrong I'm not Mormon, but I know for a fact that you are wrong. I don't know who you are, and I'm sure you're a good person, but that comment is insane. LDS means the Church of JESUS CHRIS of Latter Day Saints. They're Christians. I for one enjoy the beauty of this song and I hope you do too.

  • @gloinstrong He is everyone is a spirit child of god it says so in the bible that means EVERYONE including Satan and Jesus.

  • @kvhassfamily Mormons are Christian we believe in Christ but we have different rules than the other Chrisitans.

  • I love Mormons.

  • It saddens me that every time I listen to some great music, whether or not its christian music or not, I always see an argument about different religions and sects of religions. Just relax and listen to some great music.

  • @wizzkid250 I couldn't agree more. Thank you wizzkid.

  • @wizzkid250

No reason to be saddened. This is religious song, and was written for the glory of God. It is ment to express religious truth. In fact, Latin original, "Veni veni Emanuel" was written in 12th century, and is as Catholic as it can be (having strong Marian flavor). So it is kid of strange to hear it performed by Mormons, who surely do not believe in what the texts is saying.

  • @stbc2 you are 'surely' a full tilt moron

  • @stbc2 We do believe in it we believe in almost all parts of the Catholic religion ( just a few exceptions mind you ) but we also have another book about Christ called the Book Of Mormon so named because it was him who compiled it all. You can sorta see it's true from a historic perspective the Nephites are the Mayans and the Lamanites are the Aztecs. ( my personal theory )

  • @stbc2 this is true however people tend to become rather vicious when it comes to debating religion.

  • @wizzkid250 You are so correct. Really, this is just wonderful music and should be appreciated as such...keep the religious arguments for youtube videos on religious theories/thesis/opinions!

  • @wizzkid250 Yeah, I'm not religious and appreciate religious music if it's beautiful.

  • @wizzkid250 Thank you.

  • @gloinstrong Christianity: 1 a : one who professes belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ

  • @tjsaxman9 Mormonism: 1a: A cult that tries to tag along with christianity in order to attain followers. 1b: Belief in Many Gods, and the possibility of becoming one.

  • @gloinstrong : The LDS church claims to be a restoration of the original christianity and has no desire to "tag along" with creedal christiantiy. LDS Mormons worship one God and one God only. The Bible contains multiple passages of scripture pointing to humanity's divine potential to inherit all that God has and to become like He is. Peace.

  • @rippinsteo I love how Mormons keep repeating they worship "1 God and 1 God only", that may be the case, but Joseph Smith and Bringham Young talked about an eternal progression of Gods. Many Gods. Mormonism is basically Polytheistic, no different than hinduism. LOL. WHERE THE BIBLE HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH BECOMING GOD?!?!??

  • Comment removed

  • @gloinstrong : LDS Mormons definitely worship only 1 God, God the Father, in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ. Scripture speaks of humanity's divine potential to inherit all that God has and to become like He is, not to become God. Per the Bible, ‘God said let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness…’ Study Ps 82:6; John 10:27-38; Heb 1:1-3; Ps 118:6; Matt 26:63-64; Mark 14:61-62; Luke 22:67-69; Mark 16:9-19; Acts 2:29-36; Acts 7:55-56; Rom. 8:31-34; Heb 12:9-10; 2 Pet 1:2-4; Rev 21:3-7

  • @linglanfuedal No asshole, a Catholic always has the last word over a mormon, DON'T EVER FORGET IT

  • Mormons are not Christians. Mormons actually believe God use to be a man like us, and that people can descend and become God's themselves, Mormonism is a pretty disgusting cult.

  • @gloinstrong it's false just like Christianity, you fag

  • Comment removed

  • @gloinstrong i dont think that they believe that at all. Hindus however believe that they can be come "gods" so to speak

  • @stuey33099 What's the pointing of even wasting your breath if your going to respond with "I don't think that they........". It's obvious you don't think. The Book of Mormon claims that GOD, use to be a man like us. Further on, Joseph Smith adds that we can become Gods like him. It's unbelievably ridiculous.

  • @gloinstrong : What's ridiculous is your ignorance of what is and is not in the Book of Mormon. And if you will read your Bible, there is plenty of scripture pointing to humanity's divine potential. Peace.

  • I would kill to be a part of this choir... :o......

  • Bravo from an atheist, this is sensational choral work. It's great to hear American choirs when they don't sing with horrible accents.

  • They sound so beautiful singing this song. The mormon tabernacle choir did really good.

  • Everyone serves ONE god. He may go by different names, genders and maybe celebrated as many with single aspects of the ONE god. EVERYONE should be tolerant to other's beliefs. The one "human" who was perfect has died and now sits at the right hand of the father. He is the one to judge not us. Remember your place in this world.

  • A segment of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir is coming to Arizona for our Centennial next year. I can't wait!

  • bravo,

and I Am Catholic, Blessings are poured on all like rain

  • I've watched this fantastic performance 3 times and I've fallen in love with the ladies at 1:40 and 3:15..

  • just magnificent!

  • My choir and I did this song in the our freshmen year of.highschool

  • Now you know how the Jews feel about the Christians hijacking their (old testament) Bible! There is a minority of Christians in the Mormon religion, just as there is a minority of Christians in the Roman Catholic.

  • The Mormon Tabernacle Choir continues to be a supreme standard in choral excellence.

  • This is one of my favorite Christmas hymns. It's the kind of song that should only be sung by a choir or congregation.

  • wonderful

  • I was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christof Latter-Day Saints in june of 1999 and ever since, I have been more happier then i was. I respect other's beiefs; remember: HEAR O ISRAEL, THE LORD IS GO, THE LOD IS ONE, SHAOLM!

  • Brilliant. What a talented choir, orchestra, and director.

  • I wish all the rich religious people would get together and save the whales.

  • This was originally an all-instrumental arrangement (strings) by the Philadelphia Orchestra's 1962 recording "The Glorious Sound of Christmas." The Morman Tabernacle Choir has masterfully perfomed many of the Arthur Harris scorings for the Philadelphia Orchestra in adapting them from orchestral to vocal arrangements.

  • this song kinda makes me sad that i'm a satanist :(

  • @69Thrasha69 Dont be its better trust me ;)

I used to do witchcraft for some time until i got saved

  • Maravilhoso!!!! Belas vozes!!!! Parece que estamos alcançando os céus.

(Wonderful!!!!! beautiful voices!!!!! It seems we are reaching the sky.)

  • OMG IN THE HIGHEST! This must be conducted before I leave this world!!!!

  • i am hungarian, and in mai coantry song in church hungaian by Zoltán Kodály. Please lock in youtube : Zoltán Kodály : Veni veni Emmanuel

  • This song is hungarian from Zoltán Kodály

  • @szabadon1

Why do you think so? It is an almost Latin hymn, with its "modern" Latin words perhaps established in the 12th Century...with the music or song maybe going back well before that ("Veni Veni Emmanuel").

  • @PhillySouth

    Kodály - Adventi ének

  • This is a hungarian song by Zoltan Kodaly.

  • @jonowev this is a christian song about the coming of jesus, it has very little to do with the modern israeli state (not to mention the mormon tabernacle choir is from Utah)

  • Israel, as a nation state, is a disgrace. But if you take this piece of music at face value, then it is awe-inspiring.

  • can people stop debating over if mary was, is, or is always a virgin and just except that she was an exceptional woman to take on the responsability to birth a child that did not belong to her husband. in those times she would have been killed. stop fighting over little details, Mary was the mother of Jesus, Jesus is the son of God and God is the almighty end of story point blank.

  • @xxcarnacionxx91 : thjere is no argument. the woman was a normal woman like every woman who had a romantic life. it is clear the woman was no virgin. u can read this in Mt 1:25. catholics have decided to invent the doctrine of celibacy as having to do with holiness which has no connection. d amazing thing about Jesus is that he was born the normal way and his mother mary is also a normal woman, so why dis so much claim about her being virgin forever, why shld she be a virgin forever?come on guys

  • @MyCHUKKY She wasn't a virgin forever Jesus had other Brothers and maybe sisters? we don;t know about them the bible or the book of mormon for some reason tell us about the woman there but not the names :P

  • Nice christmas classic, enjoy.

  • I attend an Episcopal (high) Church...the LDS love for their Lord and their taking care of one another is stunning, I mentioned that to "Christians" and they agree.

  • Hey guys!! Let us not judge.....satan must be rubbing his hands to see all this discord! We should each be praying for discernment and love - not giving in to mud slinging. Does it matter if you are catholic or protestant? What is your core belief? Do you believe that Jesus is the son of God? Do you believe He died for our sins? Do you believe thathe rose again on the 3rd day? Lets focus on what our core beliefs are - lets not focus on what separates us.

  • can't everyone just leave it alone? seriously? if you hate it, don't watch it. if you love it, enjoy. differences between people is what's so beautiful about the human race.

  • In case you do not believe me, or it sounds crazy, sometimes the averge mormon does not know what the eldwrs believe. Simple google search on mormons and you will see it is a false religion and joseph smith a false prophet, look for yourself. Truth is more important than not hurting feeling. Sorry.

  • @MsGrouchyDog You are seriously going to believe what you see on google? Its the internet. Anyone can put whatever they want out there. And your going to believe it? I find that seriously disturbing that your going to trust something that anyone can alter. Try going out to look and read books for yourself instead of going to the internet.

  • @chiame11 You do realize that people have to write the books also, right?

  • @chiame11 You know the internet is a one of the best ways to find things out. People rarely make books anymore. The internet can be deceiving, but that's why you have to find the right ay to look things up.

  • @MsGrouchy you realize that most Catholics couldn't tell you what the latest Papal Bull was right?

  • @MsGrouchyDog Preach it!! BUT, they don't believe the alien thing, at least modern Mormons don't. I've watched documentaries and researched them. They believe in some crazy stuff though.

  • The song is lovely and m/ormons are nice people, but not true Christians.they believe God was an alien who became God by working his way up,and that when we die,we can become gods too. Maroni gave them this message Bible says even if an angel preaches a different gospel let him be accursed. Sorry..

  • Youtube arguments are so, so stupid.

  • As a Catholic, who was an Alter Server for many years, and was awarded the Ad Altare Dei by the Bishop of the Dioceses of Providence, I must say the hate in response to such a beautiful song is shocking and sickening we may disagree on theology but the talent and magnificences of this song cannot be argued. Mormons bow to the same LORD and God. Remember, they will know we are Christians by our love.

  • @Soverignlance Exactly what IS the Ad Altare Dei? AND, Mormons don't worship the same God Catholics do. Just like Catholics don't worship the same God we Pentecostal Apostolics do. Remember, the Bible speaks about false religions: 1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.....

  • @Soverignlance ...Timothy 4:1-5 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. 3 They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth.....

  • @goofy456123 Oh, and Ad Altare Dei translates into Servant to the Alter of God.

  • @Soverignlance....4 For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

  • @goofy456123 "For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if its received with thanksgiving." I'm fairly certain what you are partaking in is a rejection. Furthermore, I'm fairly certain Pentecostal Apostolics came after Catholics, and Holy Mother Church having been well on its way to establishment when Timothy was written. Furthermore, if you don't believe in my God, who is the God of Christians, Jews, Muslims, and all mankind, then you must not be a Pentecostal.

  • @Soverignlance Pentecostals DID in fact come after Catholicism, but christianity came WAY before. Christians are followers of God and not anything else. They don't worship idols, give glory to anyone BUT God. And for that verse, it followed the verse before it which is only talking about that. People need to read MORE than just one verse to understand it. Don't get me wrong, I love the order of the Catholic church, just the way things are done don't go with the Bible.

  • @goofy456123 Actually, I was referencing the law of the Old Testament, it doesn't specifically reference vegetables.

As for giving glory to others, have you every heard of a Saint? How about the Virgin Mother? Or an Archangel? We pray for their intersession and divine aid. However, this is not the point of the discussion. You wrote a quote about bewaring religions that come after. By your arguments you should be realigning yourself with the Latin Rite.

  • @Soverignlance Still, that law was broken by God.

We don't worship nor pray any of them. "No one comes to the Father but by Me." Words of Jesus, meaning, Don't go to anyone if you wana talk to God. You come to me. Mary was only a Virgin when she had Jesus, she didn't stay a virgin, therefore she's not Virgin Mary.

  • @goofy456123 A difference in theology. Mary was, and is a virgin. From her birth unto her coronation as the Queen of Heaven. Obviously if someone wanted to confer with God they would go to the Messiah, he is God. But once again you are avoiding the main issue that I previously noted. That the hate that is so prominent on the thread is truly un-Christian.

  • @Soverignlance Exactly WHERE in the Bible does it say she was CROWNED Queen of Heaven? You don't pray to saints for protection, they have no power. What hate? If I hated Catholics I wouldn't talk to my family. ;)

  • @Soverignlance Beautiful song, but you want to talk about hate, for a GOD who supposedly loves his children (us), he sure likes to see us suffer with all the tragic things that happen here on Earth, i have one daughter which i love very much BUT would never cause her harm, why doesn't GOD have that same love?..........

  • @lostinthemix hmm interesting, but I'm sure you would discipline her and reprimand her for her wrongdoings,

which I'm sure in her perspective seems harmful. I'm not suggesting that God always operates in this fashion, but Hebrews 12 suggests that God disciplines those children whom he loves.

Also Romans 8:18 emphasizes something about our suffering..

  • @lostinthemix So is your daughter never to leave the house? Will she never ride a bike? In all of these there is a risk but you aren't going to be there her whole life an prevent it. Eventually she's going to fall off that bike and scrape her knee. Who ever said God has caused harm?

  • @Soverignlance You have much to learn my friend.

  • @lostinthemix Apparently, I need to understand the mind of someone who has rejected their father.

  • @lostinthemix Do you have rules for your children? If a rule of yours is DO NOT PLAY IN THE ROAD because you have seen countless dogs etc die in the road while not paying attn so you made the rule stay in the yard and not in the traffic filled road, and your child runs out in such road - do you just say "I love you" and continue to allow them to do such? Or do you chastise them and punish them as a means of teaching them? Should GOD allow us to violate all HIS Laws that were for our betterment?

  • @lostinthemix Its because we're here to learn and grow and he can't always interfere with life sometimes he has to let bad things happen to good people and those who get in the way of the bad people get blessed.

  • @goofy456123 I will go further to reiterate my previous sentiment via the quote above: "Love thy enemies." The hate that is being promoted on this comment thread, in response to something that is so obviously beautiful is what is truly the Spirit, and the Son have warned us against.

Oh, and you never responded to the fact that ALL Semitic Religions actually worship the same God; albeit in different forms. Just sayin'.

  • @Soverignlance OUR enemies. those that have wronged us, brothers or sisters in Christ. NOT defiant stiff necked enemies of Christ. The Psalmist asked "Do not I hate them O Lord that Hate thee? Yeah I hate them with a PERFECT hatred..." There is a difference between our own personal hates and a righteous hate. Didn't GOD Himself say that He hated Esau and loved Jacob?

  • @folkandfaith So God preaches hate? Last I checked Christ though us to love our neighbor. Did not Augustine teach that we should use reason not only to rededicate ourselves to God, but evangelize others. Hate such as yours is clearly irrational. Furthermore, I would ask you, is not it also written (a bit more recently too): "Let he without sin cast the first stone."

  • @goofy456123 On another note I greatly enjoyed reading your use of certain Biblical Texts to support your position. Tell me, how is Kosher Law treating you? Obviously your literal interpretation of the Bible must mean that you follow that as well.

  • @Soverignlance You're referring to only eating veggies right? In the Bible I believe it was Paul who had the vision of being able to eat of any food, also meaning that not only Jews could be saved. We don't live in Mosaic Law anymore, Jesus came and broke religion, forming a relationship.

  • @Soverignlance I don't think you understand LDS theology very well. Joseph Smith taught that he had done more then any other man in history, incl. Yeshua the Christ. Smith taught many deities and that one could even become a deity of their own and that God in heaven had a beginning and was once a man, and that such had a father and a beginning etc etc ad infinity. They do not believe in the same GOD of the BIBLE nor do they rely on Christ alone for salvation.

  • @folkandfaith : Yeah, no, you don't understand LDS theology very well, either. Peace.

  • @folkandfaith and this is one of the things/beliefs that makes the Mormon belief wrong.

  • @folkandfaith Actually, we Mormons do believe in the same God of the Bible. And The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints also teaches that Joseph Smith did more than any other man except for Jesus Christ to bring to pass the progression of man.

  • @folkandfaith Yes we do we believe we can become LIKE god we teach that he did more than any man EXCEPT Jesus we do rely on him for our salvation and we do believe in the god of the Bible.

  • @Soverignlance Thanks to the good old Catholic for defending the Spirit of Goodness so evident in this beautiful and soul stirring song. You can almost feel the presence of the Angel of Music here. For some the music alone is proof of a benign Power in the world. I suspect the hate that shocked you is inspired by the hellish hate of the New Atheism-that has declared war on the very God it curses from pit of hell. The voice of the New Atheism is everywhere in the news- always blessing evil

  • @Soverignlance

I agree. Regardless of anyone's religious beliefs, we should be able to appreciate the song for its artistic merit.

  • @gkbergstrom I'll have you know that Mormons are not Christian.

  • @Xdrumbum23X That's funny, they seem to be singing Christian hymns here.

  • @scubawrestler Advent hymn...in expectation of Christmas

  • @libsemik we are christians and we do take " Love thy Neighbor " seriously.

  • @scubawrestler I sometimes find myself singing "I'm a little teapot." Does that actually mean I'm a teapot? Dang, I didn't know that it worked like that. Mormons say they're Christian but Mormonism contradicts many of the doctrines that it takes to be a Christian. Google it. Boom.

  • @JEMOELLA1 People lke you make me sick, thinking your beliefs are correct simply because you feel so wrapped and safe in them. I am not mormon, but i am however offended. I hope you burn in hell for your close minded ways.

  • @JEMOELLA1 I,ll have you know you idiot that mormons are christian you piece of human garbage, but i don't think you are a christian at all i believe you are a satan worshipper, you really make all christians sick.

  • Brings tears to my eyes, Merry Christmas

  • How bout everyone drops this argument and just loves one another and show God through example and living your life not for yourself but for others.

  • @shevyshakess Actually, I didn't say I hate mormons now did I? I respect the fact that in America we have the freedom of religion. I simply do not agree with their choice of lifestyle/religion. And as we do have freedom of religion, we also have freedom of speech. I love even Islamic people. In our house we have an 18 year old living with us for he doesn't have a home. Is that not hospitality? Mormons simply do not know the whole God. You know "one, holy, CATHOLIC, and apostolic church"?

  • @shevyshakess agreed. no matter what religion, that wasn't christian-like at all.

  • @missloganeurice Now, all I did was express my feelings. I never said I "hate" mormons, did I? I simply think that Mormons do not have the right choice of religion. In the bible it says, "and men shall leave their families and cleave to there WIFE" it didn't say wiVES.

  • @noglobwarm96 lol. i'm not even a mormon. i'm a catholic as well. i think you're missing the point. and about the whole wives subject, not all mormons believe in that. the majority of the religious people i went to school with were mormons, and they also believe that's a sin. there are sins in all religions. no one religion is right. God simply just wants us to believe in and worship Him and accept Jesus as our personal savior. christianity is being blown out of proportion, i think.

  • @noglobwarm96 for your information mormons do not have more than 1 wife it is illegal, you are thinking about the flds which is a breakoff of the lds church and theyh bedlieve in polygamy not the mormons get your facts straight before you open your unknowledgeable mouth.

  • @noglobwarm96 FOR THE LAST FREAKING TIME WE DON'T DO POLYGAMY ANYMORE! I'M SICK OF PEOPLE SAYING THAT! THAT WAS FOR A SHORT TIME AND NOW ITS OVER! GOT IT?!?!?!?

  • Hey, how come there are no "minorities" in that choir? :P

  • @christimacc for your information there are minorities in the choir you must be blind ,also this choir is not paid , and they must know how to read music and must try out for the choir, and that that many minorities tryout but i know of at least 4 minorities in the mtc .

  • @gkbergstrom

LOL! Wow, guess I hit a nerve, huh. I know there are minorities in the Mormon choir. It was a joke; a play off the mormon's historical view of black people. BTW, you do realize that the mormon faith was begun as a means of allowing white men to have all the sex they wanted right? *snicker*

  • @christimacc No we did that because our numbers were low and god told us too.

  • @shevyshakess i don't give a crap what you think. all my friends agree with me so u can shove it!

  • mormons suck! catholics rock!

  • This is awesome, but in my opinion the best version of this song is by August Burns Red. Merry Christmas!

  • @Billybobthedude love august burns red! =D

  • Wow! This is awesome! Mormons rock!

  • merry christmas!

  • so, this is amazing...and i might have even teared up at the end...

  • Idk, but I've always thought this song was more powerful when it was all males... something about it always gave me chills. This is great, though!

  • @ColorMeToxic Yeah I have that copy on my ipod I can't seem to find the all male version of it though

  • The Mormon church views Jesus and Satan as spirit brothers and sons of God. God put forth His plan of salvation for the world - Satan proposed his own plan. Jesus accepted the Father's plan and offered to implement it as the Savior... crucified on a Roman cross, and rose from the dead three days later to establish His deity. ..The TRUE Church teaches that Jesus Christ has existed eternally as the Son of God, the second "person" of the Trinity..so much for their integrity.

  • @libsemik - I don't understand your comment, the Mormon church teaches that Jesus Christ has existed eternally as the Son of God, the second "person" of the Trinity.. the only difference is that your idea of the Trinity is One God manifested in 3 forms. The Mormon Church teaches that God the father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost are three separate and distinct beings that form the Godhead. But your not really interested in this information as you just want to knock the Mormon Church.

  • @wiggstaa it would seem the mormons are uninterested in "truth"...Jesus Christ IS CO-ETERNAL with the Father & the Holy Ghost... Jesus said so...Jn 10:30 "I and the Father are one"... That is, one divine nature, but two distinct persons.

mormon teaching is flawed and to sing this song (in my opinion) lacks integrity in mormon belief

  • @libsemik It would be better to say that the Father and the Son, with the Holy Spirit, are one divine being, since separate entities can share the same nature.

  • @libsemik that is exactly what the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints teaches, as well ♥ you might be surprised by how small the differences are between that religion's beliefs and your own, and how much sense those differences actually make :)

  • @erinwantstobesigned wrong...The Mormon church views Jesus and Satan as spirit brothers and sons of God. God put forth His plan of salvation for the world - Satan proposed his own plan. Jesus accepted the Father's plan and offered to implement it as the Savior...

  • @libsemik then i might be misunderstanding your post. are you saying that they are wrong in saying Jesus and Satan are brothers and sons of God, wrong in saying Satan proposed his own plan (to volunteer to be the Saviour, but to take all glory unto himself), and wrong in saying Jesus volunteered to be the Saviour and give all glory to God? or are you saying they are wrong in saying Jesus and Satan are brothers, and that the rest of it is the truth but not LDS doctrine?

  • @erinwantstobesigned Jesus is NOT equal to satan The Mormon church views Jesus and Satan as spirit brothers and sons of God...this is wrong Jesus is Co-Eternal with the Father & the Holy Ghost...this the mormons do not accept as doctrine

  • @libsemik LDS doctrine teaches that God created and is Father to ALL ~ including Satan. this makes Jesus & Satan brothers. it teaches that God loves all his creation equally ~ including Satan. this does not mean He condones the choices Satan has made. the LDS church teaches that God is much like an earthly parent who loves his wayward child but must practice tough love.

however, this is an entirely separate doctrine than the Jesus issue ~ what exactly do you mean by Co-Eternal?

  • @erinwantstobesigned Co-Eternal? ...Jn 8:58 Jesus said to them: "Amen, amen I say to you, before Abraham was made, I am" The Father, The Son & Holy Ghost are ONE...not three...Jesus IS GOD!...and another place in Jn 14:10 "Do you not believe, that I am in the Father, and the Father in me?" The Father and The Son are ONE...from the beginning Co-Eternal!

  • @libsemik then we do differ :) the first Article of Faith in the LDS church states, "We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost." to us, this indicates Jesus' divine status and His eternal rightful place in the Godhead, but also differentiates between the separate entities of the Godhead.

thankfully, whether the LDS doctrine is correct or incorrect, God loves us all and wants us to love one another ~ that's the important part! ♥

  • @erinwantstobesigned ...yes we differ. we say "I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary..." The Church asks of us two things...Orthodoxy & Obedience...right teaching and obedience to Her teaching...but the song is well done! Happy Thanksgiving!
