actually, if you sing with the back up singers.... you will sound great because of the harmony... just don't mind their tune because you hold the melody.... you are the singer and they're just backing you up to give your voice strength when singing this one.... it is an encouragement to hit those high notes.....

Funny story: I was taking this REALLY hard test during one of my classes in High School. The tension in the room was so thick you could practically cut it with a knife . . . that was until this girl jumped up on her desk and sang out, "JESUS TAKE THE WHEEEEL! TAKE IT FROM MY HAND! well, i know the background singers are there for harmony, but they need to at least be on key. they are too high and if you are a good singer, your voice will automatically match their pitch, mine does. So when the background vocals are a higher pitch than the music, it makes you go higher than you are supposed to, which doesnt sound good.
