Aww that looks like a fun tradition to do with family. Wonder if I can convince any American friends to try this someday.
Was gonna guess that the wish had something to do with James, but since you said it's the same every year I have no clue, except for generic things.
Also liked the "Yes, chef!" part. Reminded me of Hell's Kitchen (Gordon Ramsey show over here in case you don't know about this)

I wish my family was traditional like yours Helen. Never had christmas pudding, actually I've never even heard of it. A little early but Merry Christmas Helen (I'm still eating my Thanksgiving leftovers but you Brits don't celebrate Thanksgiving don't you). BTW you have a BIG kitchen. 8)
