  • The funny thing is, my headphones are broken, and they seem to automatically do this "stereo difference" thing on all sound...

  • 1 channel ? the beatles ... top difference!

  • LOl they do not even understand what this is.

  • Really interesting. What I'd give to hear the seperate original masters. Even just the isolated bass track. maybe one day.....

  • what have you got against bass? each of these are interesting and the higher pitches have an ethereal quality that is appealing but there's no bottom. if you enjoy the unbalanced sound, then i suppose it's fine but even turning the bass all the way up and the treble down, it still needs help.

  • Ok so what do I have to do to get this enhanced listening experience

  • Its an interesting experiment it and it brings out Enos backing track like I never would have believed so I downloaded it for just that reason and I voted 'like' thumbs up

    and fuck the begrudgers

  • And you may find yourself believing that basketball is actually a sport

  • Fucking awful recording.

  • @TheTroll342 That's the point.

  • kindacool audio nerd trick + enraged trolling = win

  • Fascinating how this gives an insight into the creative additions that enhance the character of the piece.

  • I like the guitar

  • This is neat....feels like an interesting post-script to an already very familiar song....almost a remix.....I like it!

  • You can download the audio-mp3 of this video at grabyourmp3s doht cohm.

  • WOW! How amateurish!

  • And you may find yourself with a broken headphone jack

And you may find yourself thinking it's an original discovery

And you may find yourself convincing yourself to post it on youtube

And you may tell yourself 'It seemed like a good idea at the time'

And you may find yourself embarrassed

And you may tell yourself "God I feel like a jackass"

    Same as it ever was.

    Same as it ever was.

  • @TheLAKERSareGodsTeam Wow, some people really go to great lengths to voice their opinions don't they? Read my channel info please, it's not an original discovery, these aren't ripped from equipment with broken headphone jacks, don't be an arse.

  • @TheLAKERSareGodsTeam -- That was funny. Totally off but funny! :OD I'm not sure if you understood the post or not. Probably not.

Sorry, stereodifference, I do get your post and why but what he wrote was funny. Give credit where do. Also I believe you can delete posts on your page, here. Anyhoo ...

    Mystic

  • @MysticMoodsDJDave Can your condescending bullshit. I didn't post that to be ironic, I posted it because this shit is lame. Really, really lame.

  • @TheLAKERSareGodsTeam --Wow, who pissed in your Wheaties, d00d? It's obvious you're not feeling too well about yourself since you feel the need to continue to post and respond to something you call "Lame. Really, really lame". Speaks volumes about you, your life and the lack thereof. Regardless of what you think about me I'm going to give you some tips to help with your personal self esteem .... change your tampon regularly and wash your pussy when the flo' gets heavy like this, 'k?

  • @TheLAKERSareGodsTeam lol! ^5

  • Interesting & nice. I like it.

  • This was really interesting man, thanks!

  • This is quite interesting a weird to listen to! Even weirder is my vid for a live version of this song. Even weirder than that is the rest of my shit...

  • sounds fucking awful.

  • Wow, the guitar part in the chorus is great

  • LOL.....ummm ok!

  • I dont understand why people use their time to trouble getting the stereo difference the software way, the quickest way is hardware, you just leave the jack(or minijack) half way out the socket to get the stereo difference.

  • @vegunited06 Yes! I stumbled on the trick years ago with a walkman. The walkman broke and now i'm doing with audacity....but i still don't get why it works with a jack not inserted all the way.

  • @rogermelly44 Thanks for the reply, I actually became quite fasinated by the whole thing so I asked some 'experts' on that gearslutz forum, can't find the thread now but when I do I'll post a quote, it's something to do with the jack not getting enough 'ground' or something, thus doing some weird phase canclelation at different frequencies, aload of mumbojumbo to me I'm affraid I'll try and find the thread.

  • What exactly is the point of this?

From the sounds of it youve punched a masive hole in the middle using some kind of stereo widening software & in my opinion ruined it. This might have been interesting if the hole in the middle wasn't so big.

Or maybe you have a 'karaoke' preset on your soundcard?

    /sigh

  • of the stereo diffs you've posted, this one is super juicy.

  • [box-confined labelers add this to 'weirdo' concept grouping {LOL}!]-WOW! You did not exaggerate! My EARs! - in a GOOD Way! Thanks! ONCE in a lifetime!!! ;-)))

  • Everone can shout "bad version" all they want, but its good to hear how this has been mixed.

  • Way to go, Mr. Eno :)

  • I think it's nice for say an intro for people walking into a stadium or big seminar. depends on what you do with it.

  • So bad. No words to describe.

  • This is cool because it gives you a chance to hear some of the subtle ways that Eno enhances the atmosphere of a tune with a barely audible bed of sound. He almost always lays down a bed of sound like this; sometimes it's not as obvious as this.

  • @loofascraper Any other people who want to learn about how tracks are mixed down by certain producers/mixing engineers

  • @stereodifference, Whic is no1?

  • @stereodifference bollocks. If you liked Talking Heads, you'd take these off now.

  • @loofascraper

mmmmm, quite a debate.. having played remain in light to death through the years, this is a struggle, certainly not as good, but I can take it okay.... am I a wierdo loof? Cos you are "cock ESP" wtf is that bunch of morons up to?? (enjoying Cock me thinks : / )

  • @luvinbuzzin

It's great music that's what it is!

  • @loofascraper People with 2 ears and 2 speakers? DURR

  • take this down it blows ass

  • @drewdudy - don't listen then - did u turn up your speakers max, spread your cheeks & feel the blow yeah?

  • @luvinbuzzin

I do that anyways. It gets awkward at grade-school recitals sometimes.

    Sometimes.

  • sounds cool still, like the pumped up stereo sound

  • sounds cool still, like the pumped up stereo sound

  • Anyone know why the vocals almost dissapear when the audio is out of phase? it's just crazy how that happens.

  • David Byrne spunds like he's singing in a well.

  • crap , half of it missing ,shit

  • a similar version like this (the instrumentals) is in the Hot Tub Time Machine soundtrack.

  • That is soooooooooooooooo spaced out on stereo! amazing!

  • Very cool. I used this technique a bit in an album I mixed/mastered recently. It was a live album that I didn't record myself, and the recordings were strange. They were stereo using a minidisc, and the sound quality was fine, but they were recorded from a single source with no regard for placement. Plus the band moved around a bunch, but I had some success isolating certain parts with this technique and overdubbing them.

  • @SoAandFriends I never thought to just do this with random tracks and see what happens. Some very cool results.

  • Thanks for uploading this; examining the track through this is wonderful.

  • Huh. This is interesting.

  • I actually like hearing the underscore for this song. Nice track.

  • Are engineers the only people who understand M-S encoding?

Listen to The Wall through an M-S processor, your life will never be the same.

  • @jmudloff I'm not sure whether it's a case of that or there's too many ignorant people just wanting to hear a song they could easily go out and buy....

Now's the time to buy some Floyd on CD.....

  • ok does anyone have the real fucking song?

  • How about you go and buy it? It's most definitely gonna be on iTunes and any other good digital download store. OR you could even go and buy the reissued CD complete with bonus tracks. It's well worth the money.

  • ahh i like this song but u for got the beggining

  • What the hell is this?

  • Please check my channel profile for more information about what this is. It's NOT the original track or a cover or remix, it's a processed version supposed to cut down the track to some individual tracks, such as the chorus vocals in this case.

  • obviously bart simpson is the that which one had done so as to like it. ya dig?

  • I like it.

  • Again, bad version

  • Can you read? jesus christ

  • *cough* Bad!

  • @bittersweetist (uploader) Please check my channel profile for more information about what this is. It's NOT the original track or a cover or remix, it's a processed version supposed to cut down the track to some individual tracks, such as the chorus vocals in this case.

  • this is not my beautiful house; this is not my beautiful wife

  • Stereo difference rubbish

  • This one of my favourite albums of all time, together with Scary Monsters -from the same year, 1980!- and Kind of Blue by Miles Davis. However, this so-called 'stereo difference' does Once in a Lifetime no justice at all. The original version sounds much warmer and you can hear the voices properly.

  • @Kanarie1973

I love Kind of Blue as well, especially Blue in Green

  • @Stanley

Every number on Kind of Blue is great, but if I have to choose, I pick the opener So What?

  • This is an amazing song so I don't know what kind of crap you listen to (Probably Rap) but in no way is this junk...

  • By your comment, I take it that you didn't bother LISTENING to what the uploader did to the song.

  • actually, this song was sampled by one of the biggest names in rap: Jay Z... don't judge, bud.

  • therefore making Jay Z awesome and talented!

  • @arashonline He's not talking about the original song itself, he's talking about the alteration of it.

  • i'm not sure i know what you're talking about, but i can simply say that this version of the song is not for me.

  • Awesome song!!! Always and forever!!!

  • I second that!
