I'm trying to do this with a old recorded lecture with a lot of static, it's not working very well. Even if I take a little noise off the static sounds wobbly and his voice sounds metallic and unnatural.
I have a movie I want to pull some engine sounds from, but unfortunately there is music at the same time, I have seen videos on YT of music that had the dialogue from tv shows edited from it (unreleased music, taken directly from the show) I want to do it the other way around, editing out the music to just hear the noise (in this case a monster truck engine)
i got out of the window when i realized what to do, i decided to try recording. i did just a second of blank noise for me to filter, i did a mistake so i deleted it. right after i deleted it, that clapping at the end of the video, played...i was pretty amazed by my deleting abilities too.
In the audio I recorded, the speakers voice is just as loud as the noise I want to remove, is there anyway to remove the noise without destroying the voice of the speaker or am I fucked?
I still have a problem with the noise removal whatever I do. It comes out warbly even when I give a minimal adjustment. It's frustrating because it still makes the sound not worthwhile. I want to have clear recordings but nothing seems to help.
hey i downloaded the program but for some reason the when i record there is no sound any idea what to do i tried reprograming it several times already
@LuCkeeJay17 Oh, Google "set up audio input" in Windows XP and Audacity. The problem is that your computer doesn't know if it's supposed to be recording from it's own speakers, from a line-in jack, from a microphone jack, USB microphone, etc.
I followed this system for a video I took from my digital cam of someone speaking. The first time through, it lowered the noise but still left this pitchy whistling sound. So I did the filter a second time and it eliminated that sound. However, it also seemed to lower the quality of the speaker's voice. So is there a way to bring back the quality of the voice. Someone must have experienced this problem. How do you resolve it? How do you keep the quality in the video of the speaker's voice?
@HouseGuide The more specific the section of noise you select, the less the effect on the quality of the voice. What you are telling Audacity is the frequency of noise, so if you select some noise that also has a frequency related to the person speaking, Audacity will chop off some of the speaker's quality too.
when you say get rid of the noise, do you mean the noise completely ? or that weird high pitch noise you get when you record something on a camera ? =)
@Jixiie Usually a combination of the two. This works really well if you're say recording in a classroom and there is a constant scribbling of pens and such.
Its so easy using this tool! Select a few seconds of when only noise is there. Then click effect > noise removal > generate profile. Then click edit > select all or drag over the entire audio. Then click remove noise and you are done!
when i do this, it makes all my recordings sound as if from underwater and though it gets rid of the whining noise somewhat, my recordings all sound blurry sounding. help plz if u can

@12LiveandLetDie12 you can also click "Options" when you're about to save the file, and you can set the bitrate to like something higher. Saving it in a loseless .wav file should help as well.
Not to be mean but you should've used noise removal on your voice so it wont have lots of feedback. Its a little hard and irratating to understand you
@MS57KB cause you do noise removal on the whole track maybe and that will make your whole song sound low cause you removed some noice thats why when you play it it sounds lower than it was
I think this is a very useful video, but it is certainly not good enough to show. It's got all kinds of strange noises. Someone was suggesting to use something to muffle your voice. Maybe you ought to give it a try and then redo the video.
Thanks for the valuable feedback. I'll re-record the audio if I feel it will benefit future users greatly, and I have the time. I'm taking into consideration that YT will still direct most people to the old video, and a re-uploaded video would likely languish in privation.
Good advice, ty. I hear you are close to the mice without a "Popper-stopper" or air-diffusion device. Panty hose ove a wire coat hanger will work (Really), and you wont have the "Pops" on your voice over you have now. I think I will make a vid on it. Overall great job!
ok when recording we stopped to record each individual part.. does anyone know how to make it to where the transitions dont pause and offset the music????
at the beginning of the audio you have this line there which you could remove noise from but for my audio i dont have any lines like that yet throughout the whole thing you could hear the computer engine in the background..what can i do to fix this?
yeah i did but then when i played it again the audio kinda turned...weird? like there's this squeaky noise at the background like when you're rewinding sth
Thanks. Since I don't feel like getting a mic for my computer I just use the one built in my webcam and it picks up this wierd noise but now I know how to get rid of it. :)
hehehe I never said I wasn't a hypocrite! Do you want to give me some tips on getting better sound quality? I've been looking at the blue snowball but I don't like wasting $.
or you could go to effect>amplify and turn the sound off for the selected part....

bittersweet000 3 years ago
You have to zoom in and identify the part of the waveform that is purely noise.
solvingtime 3 years ago
yeah i did but then when i played it again the audio kinda turned...weird? like there's this squeaky noise at the background like when you're rewinding sth
bittersweet000 3 years ago
That's strange, but "artifacts" of the noise often exist when using noise removal. Sometimes trying to remove noise will result in even more noise!
