  • Speed little boat like a bird on the wing

    onward the sailors cry

carry the lad that was born to be king

    over the see to skye.

Loud the wind howls loud the waves roar

thunder clouds rend the air baffled our foes

stand by the shore follow they will not dare.

tho the waves leap soft she ye sleep

    oceans a royal bed

rockd in the deep flora will keep watch by your weary head

  • Many's the lad fought on that day

    Well the claymore could wield

When the night came, silently lay

    Dead on Culloden's field

Burned are our homes, exile and death

    Scatter the loyal men

Yet, e'er the sword cool in the sheath,

    Charlie will come again.

  • glory to the Jacobite revolution !

    and bonnie prince charlie !

  • I have sung this song when I was about twenty in Thailand and now I sing to my grand daughter who is two month old in Weybridge, UK. It's 40 years ago. I love this song so much and my Laura also.

  • Wonderful song! It reminds me to great times in Scotland in the seventies / early eighties. We used to sing it when we went over from Kyle of Lochalsh to Kyleakin by ferry. I just now read there's a bridge now. It would definitely not be the same feeling just to drive there by car. I'm feeling a bit sentimentally sad at the moment.

    I will always love Scotland!
