Thanks, Jettas are great conversion platforms. I still love driving this car. Keep me posted on you conversion as you get going. If you have any questions I'd be glad to help.
Good job DR on the sex change of this car I'm looking at doing later a vw jetta or Golf I'm a vw mechanic so for me it is going to be a vw good video.
I'm impress with the profesionalism of the convertion, Congrat! And thank for sharing all the details! Now, I havent shearch alot before asking this, but wont you be a big off limit for your curtis controler rated at 72-120v with 20 fully charge 6v Bat -->6.7*20=134V ?
I've had it up to 83 mph in 4th gear, I don't know how fast it would go in 5th gear. It takes about 6 hours to fully charge the pack and I get about 50 miles on a charge.
Thanks, Yes i kept the clutch for a variety of reasons. First, It makes changing gears easy and it has a more natural feel. Second, I challenge you to park the car on a slight down hill up against a concrete stopping block then try to get the car out of second or third gear to put it into reverse to back up. The weight of the car is now pushing against the gear and unless you can release the pressure on the gear box with a clutch you are stuck. And thrid for safety disconnect reasons
Nice going with the Jetta. This video will become handy when I start my '96 VW Cabrio conversion. I'm going for a 3 phase motor and Lithium batteries, as the bank permits...

Positively jealous! Congratulations!
Any particular reason you decided to keep the clutch?
Will hopefully start on my mk4 golf this year.
