@fftlx990 Your grandmother had to be a true connoisseur of both physical beauty, and talent! Thanks so much for this wonderful comment. Jane Powell was/is superb!
@fftlx990 She doesnt just have a nice mouth. She "is the shit". She has a nice everything. Everything about that girl is unbelievable. She is a perfect woman, in every sense, (every fiber of her being) of the word.
@hammammon Wow! Wish I had a direct line to Ms. Powell! Given her years now, around 82, I think she'd be turning purple after reading your observation! Not much bigger than a butterfly, she's so beautiful, and could rip the roof off most sound stages back in the day. Thanks so much for your comment!
i'm sorry i keep asking for lyrics but you see i'm not good with computers so that is why i keep asking if you wouldn't mind if you could send me the lyrics to that song and please tell me if you know any good websites for finding lyrics.
@punknn08 I want to turn that around by saying that it's because of YOU that I'm inspired to find these clips! Also, I've been a "Jane" fan since I was about 8 years old! Once again, my humble thanks for your compliments!
pict18, please forgive the delay in my response! You're so kind to notice, and it is a sad situation. Today we're subjected to the likes of "Lady Gaga," and her ilk. What's to become of us??
@varadero1839 yes, "subjected" is the word. Listening to the BBC late one night as I readied for bed, the discussion was about the controversial Lady Gaga and a video that included her "pu**y" wagon.
@bon1042 Who knows? Maybe it's our "lot in life!" It frightens me that for about the last 20 years there have only been a handfull of people who can perform without a microphone strapped to their cheek! I'm honored to say I've never listened to Lady Gaga, my choice, but just seeing the outfit she wore when presented to Queen Elizabeth made me cringe!
@punknn08 Deanna is also one of my favourite singers, and I play her recordings regularly. In fact, her version of Loch Lomand is the best I have ever heard, and, as I am Scottish, I have heard many fine versions. She may not be widely recognized now, but in the 1940s she was a very big star.
I think we probably do have such... singers, today ...we just don't 'promote' them like they did back then. You perhaps have to look harder to find them... in opera venues. Lack of such cinematic promotion probably doesn't help encourage as many singers of such ability now though. The old movies have much to appreciate in them.
@pict18 Jane sings with Pink Martini out of Portland. She is still absolutely gorgeous to look at and knows how to deliver a song with grace and beauty at 81 years old. I saw her last night at Hollywood Bowl. Don't be discouraged there is still talent here on the earth.
@Videosoftina I'm delighted to hear that Jane is still going strong. Long may it continue! I hope someone posts it on YT. Thank you for letting me know.
@pict18 Jane Powell played last night to a sold out audience at Hollywood Bowl. At 81 years old she still looks absolutely gorgeous and delivers a song with energy and grace. Her voice is warm and more articulate than it was when she was a kid in my opinion. That slightly brassy edge that was her signature, has softened yet intensified by a most elegant tambor. You might say its age, but it is sort of like fine wine; mellow and smooth. Talent states its longevity through Ms Powell.
my grandmother always told me that jane powell had a nice mouth...anyways, this is beautiful

It is sad that we do not have stars like Jane Powell and Kathryn Grayson, nowadays.
They had beautiful voices, and were lovely to look at.

Jane Powell shows why she was the greatest soprano of her era. Beautiful singing without compare.
