  • Ryujji got skills!!

    R.I.P

  • evil Minori? xD

  • Why are al the good games in japanese? :(

  • Minori was my favorite character in ToraDora.

  • minorin :O

  • Yup, DS games are region-free. So you can play a JPN-game on a US DS. For reference, my DS is a French one, and it plays Cross of Venus perfectly fine.

  • @AceNoctali Except for the writing being unreadable, which negates the gameplay.

  • @ZaffireWolf

Huh? Writing unreadable? The Japanese characters display correctly on my French DS. Unless you meant that Japanese characters are undecipherable to you because you don't know how to read Japanese?

  • I dunno and don't want to know, as I don't condone video game piracy, even more for still commercially viable games such as DS ones. Go get a real copy of it, it'll be worth the money you'll pay for it.

  • it wont worth anything if you cant read japanese, and also, the best thing about flash carts if that it can play translated game

that mean if we chinese translatred this game, we'll be able to play it in chinese, and the chinese translation cannot be brought in stores, same thing with an english patch, if an american translation team translated this game, then flash carts owners can play this game in english

  • So ? It's still pirating. Better at least buy your legit Japanese copy and then R4 it if you REALLY feel about R4 it. Still doesn't change the fact I don't know if it's possible to R4 it, and don't want to know.

And a Chinese patch won't do much better than having the original Japanese, as most Westerners don't know Chinese. As for an English patch, it would need a translation team with lots of guts, time & dedication to do it, and I highly doubt there's one right now who has all of it.

  • well a chinese translation is good for me since im chinese

and we chinese people pirate. OH YEAH!!!

video games are bad for you anyway, there is one case that a kid played too much Halo, and his parents don't let him play anymore, so he killed his parents, and when the police came, he said to the police:" don't worry, they'll respawn".

one more thing, i can play this game in emulators and rip sprites from this game's every character and make them into decent MUGEN anime characters.

  • ... I don't see what was the point of your Halo rant and your MUGEN prowess in this discussion about flash carts. This is so off-topic. -_-

  • you just realized that?

why did you even bother to reply my first comment, you could have just delete it

and if you looking for a person with a lot of guts and all that stuff to do a english translation? you have got it, that is me, right now im trying to learn japanese and hex editing skills, i haven't done anything right since im busy with schoolwork and life, but im learning japanese as a third langurage, then i can speak chinese, english and japanese

  • And you, why did you bother barging in a discussion you weren't involved in the first place ? We could have avoided all this mess as well if you haven't done so. And I don't censor comments unless they're blatant racism or something of the like, that's why.

Also, have you read what I said ? Keywords you missed are "with time" and "right now".

That being said, I commend and encourage your efforts in learning Japanese and wanting to do a fan translation of the game. Good luck in that quest !

  • that is just me, i always barging in conversasions of other people and starts arguments, i dont know why but i always do that, i must had about ten thousand time on youtube with other people.

but im sorry to barging in, should i friend you and subscribe to you? i see you do a lot of old school japanese games, we are all gamers after all

  • No problem, by all means do so, if of course you wish so. You know, I became friends with several individuals after having an heated argument, so don't worry, ha ha ^^'''' And you're perfectly right, we're gamers after all. :)

  • friended you and subscribede to you :)

  • Thanks ! From now on, pleased to meet you ! ;)

  • why....why...WHY is there not an english version!?!? I watched and loved Index, Toradora, and Shakugan no Shana....and Dokuro-chan.... Coincidentally, I watched all of them by pure coincidence...

  • Why won't there be an English version of this game ? Simple :

    * for one, several of those Light Novels haven't been licensed, and thus are unknown from the masses in Occident ;

    * for two, even if all of them were licensed in Occident, since they probably would have licensed by different companies, there would be big licences issues ;

  • Third and last, issues withe the voicing part : they would have either to pay the right of using the Japanese seiyuu, or redo all the voicing in English, which would cost a pretty penny since there's a LOT of voiced lines.

In short, too much of a licence hassle for a very niche (and, as much as I like it, merely average as well compared to much more advanced RPGs) game which wouldn't reap enough profit in Occident. :/

  • Damn....so it suffers the same problem as Jump Super Stars.......only difference is Jump Super Stars have a fan-made English patch. And I wanted to play a game with Index and Taiga in it at the same time too.

  • Cross of Venus is an even worse case than Jump Superstars, since at least the fact the Naruto, One Piece and Bleach franchises (which are the most popular manga & anime-wise in Occident) are proeminent would be enough to attract the masses, thus removing the first problem.

But yeah, you're right, CoV has the same problem as JSS. And since it's an RPG with tons of dialogues, me thinks hopes for a patch are bleak. You're better off having some Japanese skills and play in that language.

  • Ah....thx for replying...damn shame that this game wouldnt be coming here. Doesnt look like the best RPG, but it has it's obvious charms. Lastly, what's Occident?? I thought it was some sort of "french right-wing militants"??

  • Occident = all developped countries from the West. This includes Western Europe, Canada and USA. I thought this term was usable in English as well ? O_O

  • .........living in canada, never once heard that word used in my entire life.

  • I see, I think it's more used in France. Well, at least I'm sure the term is valid in English as well, since Wikipedia and Wikitionary knows it as an alternate name for "Western World".

  • Tatsunoko vs. Capcom would be an even worse case than CoV by that first criteria (I'll bet you that in America, Shana is more popular than Hurricane Polymar, Yatterman, 70's Tekkaman, Gold Lightan and Ippatsuman COMBINED. Europe, though? At least a few Tatsunoko franchises were prominent there back in the days.) and yet, it will make the cut overseas.

...then again, we're talking about Capcom. They do have money to spend AND iconic characters.

  • @AceNoctali

CoV shouldn't have any localisation problem as of 2011, knowing how ZHP handled its Dengeki Bunko guest appearances in the Western version (Read: they are left completely intact, and every series that was in CoV except for Iriya is present in ZHP)... Really, the only thing holding it back now is its niche status.

  • this game consists of fights with lots of anime's girls?

  • No, it's a standard RPG.

And the player characters are, aside from an original male char, the main heroines of the most famous Light Novels of the publishing company Dengeki Bunko (so no, they're not anime characters per se, but most, if not all, of said Light Novels were adapted into anime later, so yeah).

  • an rpg as schools day's visual novel (date sim) or like pokemon?

  • A standard J-RPG, like Star Ocean, Tales of, Chrono Trigger or Earthbound / Mother. Definitely not a visual novel.
