On My 1999 beetle. Car runs fine when I start it, BUT only when I get more gas its hard to start. I have to pump pedal to get it to start. After this it starts and runs fine. ONLY when I get more gas it acts up.. Is it a fuel tank pressure sensor that has gone bad?
What kind of scanner is that?? I have a p0332 code that autozone gave me on my 01 5.3 silverado and I wanna make sure it isn't the knock sensor that's gone bad by restating it and seein if it comes back on.
I certainly understand how busy life, work and family can be. I think I speak for lots of folks when I say we miss your videos and know how. Family is always most important thing, tho. Best wishes to your wife. (PS- Looking forward to that train horn!)
@fomoco300k I've been pretty busy @ work. (I do have another full time job & these vids are just my side work.) Also, my wife is in college & her education seems to be more important than my vids & she gets first call on our computer. That being said, the train horn is installed on my truck, & I'll be uploading the video as soon as I can.
did this continue to work? I have a 2006 silverado crew cab with same problem. I am thinking about tackling it the way you did. I am hoping ( haven't looked yet') that it is the same as a yours.
My '04 Grand Am had the same P0455 problem. The vent solenoid was actually good but the problem was dirt in the solenoid body. New vent solenoid assembly and all was good. Plus I changed out the purge solenoid as well. It did not hold vacuum from either end well. New purge solenoid did though.
Which wire did you have the test light hooked to?? Should pink be hot all the time?? Is the white wire from the computer?? With a volt meter, I have +/-1 volt at the pink and 0 volts at the white wire. I checked the fuse and I have 12 volts at that end. Is there anything the pink wire connects to between the fuse block and solonoid? Great video by the way!
@michaelpine1969 I just looked at a wiring diagram for the '06 Seirra I worked on in this video. It showed an orange & a white wire. The orange wire came directly from the fuse & is supposed to be hot (12 volt+) at all times. The white wire was grounded by the PCM when commanded. The diagram I was looking at didn't show anything else connected to either wire.
Oh Man Thanks for the video!my 06 gmc sierra 2500hd has the same problem..kinda cold right to work on it thou..will pick up parts and get things start and let ya know how it goes!
Love you videos man, very informative. Is the evaporative emissions system much different on a Dodge Ram than it is on a GM truck? My dad has a leak in his.
@cjones4512 I know your question has been answered a few times, but I thought I'd give a little more info. It's a Snap On MT2500 AKA "the brick" as every one has already said. Snap On has quit making it & last year quit selling updated software for it. It is rapidly becoming obsolete because Snap On wants its customers to spend more money to get a new scanner.

Wow, great video. I just had my truck pop this code two days ago. This video is incredibly helpful. I'll be tackling this problem in the near future.

Thanks for the help! I ended up running a new hot wire to the solonoid, and so far, so good, no dtc's.

haloguru2552 1 year ago
@haloguru2552 They are kind of similar. On a Dodge, check for dry rotted rubber hoses. An evap smoke machine would help find the leak too.

@roadragecustoms Thanks, I appreciate the advice.
haloguru2552 1 year ago
Was that a 2007 Trailblazer? also what caused the large leak? we didnt see an opening in the evap system.
mrexecutive1 1 year ago
@mrexecutive1 That was a 2006 GMC Sierra. The vent solenoid was stuck open causing the leak.
