  • This is VERY, VERY good!!!!! Thank you very much for sharing this with us!!!!! I had never heard of, much less heard or seen, Arthur Conley before today - but I'm glad that I made the journey, and I will now have to exploring for more of his talent on YouTube.

  • WTF? I've been listening to "Sweet Soul Music" for 40 years...never knew Arthur Conley was this good. Sounds like Sam Cooke and Wicked Wilson mixed in a blender. This man kicked some serious ass...

  • this is da real deal!! you gotta love it!!

  • Love the sixties. LOL, looks like all white faces in the crowd, and the guys are dressed in suits, sure was a different time.. And I sure miss those times.

    Great song.

  • jajja q gente tan mas amargada jaj yo ya estubiera en el dancing aka destrampandome bien machin jaja

  • thx

  • love this guy

  • spotlight on Arthur Conley!

  • Okay Arthur I am here and waiting . And yes . I have been told, that I am all woman .

  • golden years of music. unfortunately gone

  • It still wasn't that common to let go, those days, but they got the best example of how to do that, from Mr. Conley! You see how it works, in the end.

  • I consider myself an "expert" on rock, mo-town, and pop music.

I am ashamed to say I just discovered this master artist. My bad!

  • I've never seen this... thanks for the post!!! :)

  • Who cares if the guy is gay or not! Enjoy the music!

  • Incredible music

  • GRRRRRRRRRRRREAT MUSIC.

  • blewis, I sent you a friend invite, apparently U turned it down. I trust you recieved my link i sent you proving that Arthur Conley was Gay. You are an absolute idiot.

  • @determination9995757 What difference does it make if he was gay? He was a great singer and performer. Maybe you are gay.

  • @TonyOnTheRise // it makes no difference, i just wanted to point out to people that this handsome black man was gay. and yes, i am gay.

  • @determination9995757 I don't care if he was straight or gay, I am going to listen to his music regardless.

  • @determination9995757 THESE PEOPLE WANT EVERYONE TO BE GAY LIKE THEM. YOU MAY BE GAY, BUT UNLESS YOU BEDDED HIM, YOU DONT KNOW WHETHER HE IS GAY. AND GAY IS NOT AN ACT. IT IS A MENTAL STATE. you dont know if he is in the Mental State of Gay. Just because you are. PEOPLE BELIEVE ANYTHING THEY HEAR. THAT IS WHY THE MEDIA KNOW THEY ARE CONTROL ZOMBIES.

  • Comment removed

  • sources?

  • @determination9995757 No record about his sexuality. The man was an unquestionable talent. No question about it.

  • blewis9505, I see you are a very small minded, simple person. You were offended by my statement of Arthur Conley being Gay. I trust you received my link for the proof of this information. I don't go around making statements that are not true on any posting. One could get into a lot of trouble doing that. You haave a good day woman.

  • THIS IS A LIE, AUTHUR CONLEY WAS NOT gay, unless u are witnessing him fucking a man, do not go on hearsay, believe half of what u think u see, and none of what U hear. And do not lean to ur own understanding of nothing. THEY SAID THE SAME THING ABOUT TUPAC, having natural affections towards men that suffer like u, do not guarantee u as gay. or Homosexual. THIS IS A WHITE PERSON VERSION. AFRICAN MALES IN SOME PARTS OF AFRICA, HOLD HANDS AND WALK DOWN THE STREET, THEY ARE NOT GAY, THOUGH,

  • not the same without booker t and the gang

  • 4:28 amazing part of the song if only this music was still around today im 21 and theres no music better then this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ACE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • Fantastique.............

  • arthur conley .... i have never seen such an effortless performer with such power and finesse, the way he moves and sings brought a lump to my throat, he is up there with otis redding and sam cooke, THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER ARTHUR CONLEY

  • ENERGY!!!!!!!

  • Now THAT is music! Performers like Arthur Conley had so much raw energy back then. It was a magical time for the music industry which sadly died out long ago. All we have now is no-talent corporate-processed one-hit wonders.

    RIP, Arthur....

  • @dhemrick music lives, but it simply isn't in the spotlight all the time. Check out JJ Grey & Mofro, John Mayer (all the songs, not just the hits), and Michael Franti to name a few.

  • classic soul fore the weekend

  • Is it me OR this man sound's like Sam Cook. He sounds like Sam Cook like they 2 peas in a pot!

  • Thank you for posting this and I wish there were more.

  • Yes!! I love Good music!! That Sweet Soul Music!! The classics are the best.

  • Awesome performance !

@ SoultooSoul: I totally agree with you.

Arthur`s orig. performance of "Sweet Soul Music"

    is unequaled.

    Greetings from Germany

  • Arthur Conley was Sam & Dave, in one human spirit. He exudes that Stax, Memphis sound. Arthur had so much energy. He explodes across the stage. He never received accolades. He was a true soul talent.

  • Wow...what a performance. This isn't exactly a Sam Cooke song. Well, in a way it IS. It's based Cooke's "Yeah, Man", but Conley came up with new words. A GREAT SONG! IT just amazes me that Conley has some of Cooke's energy and a similar sound. Conley was "Discovered" by Redding, and his career sort of derailed after Redding's death.

  • i think I found the person my father likes to imitate when he's dancing. god damn

  • I don't know why soul turned into rap.... It sucks, rap isn't even music.

  • Soul has emotion, rap doesn't. Soul singers could dance, rap singers hump. Rap is just cussing & humping.

  • Rap has emotion, ever listen to Tupac? This is great though

  • Tupac couldn't sing.

  • duh...not the point

  • Wow...to even bring up this crap you call music (rap). Sad..emotions? Pfft...nuts...

  • and by the way, I don't like rap music.

  • get off your ass and dance people!

  • Awesome!!

His performance gives me the chills ( the good kind) Makes want to grab a beautifull girl by the waste and rock her socks off on the dancefloor. Theese white stifs didn,t deserve this epic performance . ( and this coming from a tall blond swedish viking haha! =)

Absolutely brilliant, I would have to have been tied to my seat!

  • music in the bones. feelin' good. no need for fancy machines when there's music and soul in your bones. where's the music today? it ain't like this no more.

  • Show me a band or performer that can pull this off today, and you'll see aunt tilly's undies...IT JUST AINT HAPPENIN LIKE THAT ....

  • MONSTRUEUX!!!!

  • what a great hornsection wow Arthur at his best!

  • Do I see Steve Cropper & Duck Dunn in that band? It sure sounds like Cropper.

  • I believe the band is the Bar-Kays.

  • terrific!

  • Wish this type of music was still around, I think now even the "white" audiences would get up and move alot more.! I'm white, so I know what I'm talking about!!

  • You've obviously never been in a mosh pit.

  • Agree with jbird46. Amazing the audience can stay in their seats!!!! Arthur Conley is SOOO full of soul and rhythm.
