I'm so glad Tom White was released by Cuba, unfortunately when a U.S backed  right wing conservative Latin American dictator gets a hold of someone they usually don't make it out. In all the years of the Nicaragua civil war the only person to get shot was Ben Linder, a good man who was killed not by the Sandinista's but by Reagan's so -called freedom fighters known as the Contras who were terrorizing the Sandinista paid teachers, doctors and health care workers.

Do you folks realize Cuba has a lower infant mortality rate than the U.S.? Do you realize Cuba a third world country has a higher literacy rate than the U.S/?> Guys lets get with it LOL! YOU pro-lifers, if your so pro life you should give Castro brothers credit for reducing a 50 percent infant mortality rate under Batista, to 5 percent today. How many babies were dying under hyper -capitalism do to infant mortality.

Perhaps the Socialism in Cuba historically was a bit more atheistic, however much of the left we see in Latin America is based in the Church on Liberation Theology, this was and is true in regard to the Sandinistas and President Ortega in NIcaragua, President Chavez in Venezuela, , former bishop Lugo of Paraguay a theologian and Rapheal Correa of Ecuador , ALL Christian leftists.In his Autobiographical interview Castro has pushed to have Christians allowed in the Communist Party in Cuba.

Cuba was quite a bit of fun before the Revolution in the 50's. Know some people who visited the Casinos and strip clubs in Havana. A couple days of sinning got old, and they decided to visit the country side, and saw a much different picture, than of the bright lights of capitalistic prosperity so to speak, Most people were in dire poverty and illiterate, However , the Revolution changed all that. In regard to Cuba's problems today, a lot of it is the Embargo. The U.S is good at Sabotage.
