  • @GeneralLeeStudios No Problem. Hopefully he will get better and get back to playing.

  • @disneysongtape ill let ya know when he does

  • This song is AMAZING! Best song in the Christmas special 'Tis a Gift! I LOVE Shining Time Station!

  • @evilgreenranger1 Me too too bad I have do resort to recording these off of the VHS instead of haveing them release a kids music tape of the songs back in the day. That would have been great.

  • @disneysongtape I agree, it would. Kevin Roth, the guy that sings this song, has a really good voice! I've heard some of his songs, including an alternate version of the theme to Shining Time Station. Such a great show! Such a shame that it's not released on DVD. Ah, well. Maybe someday...

  • @evilgreenranger1 I hope so. Do you have any more episodes that you could send me on Megaupload or Sendspace?

  • @disneysongtape Sadly, I cannot send you video, but I could send you the audio for "Schemer Alone" and the 1-hour special "Once Upon a Time", if you'd like.

  • @evilgreenranger1 I will take the audio. THANKS. Do you have the 2 episodes on VHS or DVD. If DVD I can send you a ripper to make video files. If VHS It is hard and you need special equipment.

  • @disneysongtape It's VHS. Shining Time is only on video, so, sadly, I cannot rip them onto the computer. I'm sure there's a way, I just don't have the equipment. However, I can get you the audio for the two I've already stated as well as "Second Chances" and "Queen for a Day", two of the other 1-hour specials.

  • @evilgreenranger1 Please sned the audio. How do y rip the audio from VHS with out a computer connection?

Also VHS tapes are going to wear out. I would suggest if you have the money for backup getting a DVD player with a record button. Hook it up to your VCR and you just play the VHS and hit record on the DVD.

  • @disneysongtape Interesting idea. I'll lok into that.

I have a voice recorder. I record the audio from the VHS, and then I plug the recorder into the computer and impoort it to iTunes, then I export it as an mp3.

  • @evilgreenranger1 Ok. Thanks. Do you plug it into the TV somehow or do you juts put the microphone up to the speaker

  • @disneysongtape I just put the mic up to the speaker. The quality isn't 100%, put it's pretty good.

  • @evilgreenranger1 Ok. Please send me the MP3's. Thanks. Bob

  • A week and a half til christmas and remember people, there is still people lonely on christmas

  • @89deason You are so right. Bob

  • PAUSE AT 0:09 YOUR LIFE MAY DEPEND ON IT

  • @sikinu10 I did but why????

  • @disneysongtape didnt u see the girls face?

  • @sikinu10 That is freaky. It is a boy actually.

  • What I still don't get about the song is the Hobo supposed to be the kid grown up or like he's the kids father or something? I never understood that but the song is still a great song. You don't hear songs like that much these days.

Long live Shining Time Station & Thomas the Tank Engine.

  • @TDogg1379V2 The Hobo is the Kid grown up. Shining Time Station was a great show. More of this stuff need to be on DVD.

  • Link to download all the songs from the special is in the description

  • whats the song called

  • @x007xDaBigE It is called "The Hobo Song" By Kevin Roth. It was written for The Shining Time Station Christmas Special. It was never released on any album. I I did save the audio from this video as an MP3 file which I can send to you.

  • @disneysongtape Sir - I really need to have this song, can you please send it to me in MP3 as you mentioned earlier? If so i will give you my email. Thank you in advance :)

  • @rpmoverload Yes I thought I did this. Sorry I overlooked it. What is your E-mail?

  • One of my favorite shining time station song. Kevin Roth rocks. Plus i love the song called "Kite Song" played by Kevin Roth, which is from the STS episode, "Hope, Faith, & Anixety". I miss this show so much. I hope it comes to dvd!

  • I want this show on DVD as well. This was a great show. Today they ruin Thomas The Tank Engine. Take off the modern Thomas and re-run this. disneysongtape

  • I remember seeing this when I was a young kid. Now I actually know what it means. Its very hard to watch this scene without getting goosebumps. It sends a very powerful message. I think its stupid how people are always afraid of homeless people these days.

  • It does send a powerful message. I love it. I hate how people are so afraid of Homeless people. They are good people with no money.

This singer is Kevin Roth. A Children's singer. I love him. I jusr got a CD of him for Christmas. I love Children's music. It has some really good messages that too many adult songs twist around make you think the messgaes ithe kids' songs are ''uncool'' Messages like in this songs is what I choose to live my life by. disneysongtape

  • I can't believe I found this video! I'd only heard this song once before--when the STS Christmas special was originally broadcast. I was holding my toddler, who loved "Thomas," and halfway through this song, I just burst into tears and hugged my baby. It is a gorgeous song that touched me so deeply, I've remembered the melody for almost 20 years. Thank you for posting it... My "baby" is now 6'2" and shaves!

  • I love this song as well. I got this from the extended VHS copy which I got at a Yard sale for 1 dollar. I love this show. I can send it to you as an AVI file in a private YouTube message. I can also include the homemade soundtrack I made my recording the sound off of the AVI file. disneysongtape

  • I'm delighted to see this wonderful video re-appear after so many years. My son was the boy in it (he's now 28). Bob is right. Kevin Roth did write this song specifically for Shining Time Station. It was shot in one day in a private home and at an historic railroad in New Jersey. It was a wonderful shoot, and I think the good feelings of all involved come through in the video.

  • I agree. The feelings cam through great. I am 28 too just like your son. I am glad you fond the video. I f you need a copy of the video let me know and I will send you my whole VHS Rip. Your son is great. I have have all of Kevin Roth's Albums. He is a nice sings. I love Kids music. How did your son like being in a TV show? Dose he still act? disneysongtape

  • This song always made me cry, still does. I grew up watching Shining Time Station.

  • I was too old for it when It cam on but I still loved it. I have always loved trains. The Kids in the railway station is a great idea for a great show.

Just like my love of video and music editing came from The Kidsongs TV Show. A show about a bunch of Kids running an abandoned TV Studio to show their own music videos. disneysongtape

  • I GREW UP ON THAT ONE TOO!!!!!

Well, if you mean the one with the "Biggles" anyways.

  • When I was REALLY Little I watched the original NBC version of Kidsongs. Which I as striving to get on DVD because they did everything with NO adults. Which really made it a kid-powered show.

I loved the PBS Biggle version as well. The biggles are could and fun characters. The Celeberity interviews are great. Having adults there threw off the whole KIDsongs part for me. Though I guess not too much because the adults pretty much let The Kidsongs kids do their own thing. disneysongtape.

  • Oh wow! This segment has always touched my heart!

Everytime the boy hands him the teddy bear, I freakin tear up every time!

  • It is such a sweet song. I love it. disneysongtape

  • Why did you upload this video if your Youtube name is disneysongtape.

  • I like ALL kids of Children's music and shows. Everything I tried was already taken so I was looking through my onld Disney cassettes at the time which were called Disney Songtape so I used that name. Yet I have to post much disney lol. disneysongtape.

  • Except for that Stainz Locomotive, I own both those model train cars. R.I.P. LGB.

  • What is LGB? DISNEYSONGTAPE

  • ive heard better versionz

  • I thought this was an original for Shining Time Station. What do you mean Better Versions?

  • Comment removed

  • Good Point. I never thought of that. You are right. Thanks for bringing it up.

  • so sad

  • It is. It is a great Christmas Song. The gets more into the meaning of Christmas than most Christmas Songs. I love it. Bob

  • this is a random song but i like it

  • It is from the Christmas Special of the old PBS Kids Show Shining Time Station. I love this song and show. Bob

  • u soab this izent a hobo itch

  • good song

  • It is a great song. Too bad more of the old videos/TV show didn't have soundtracks. Bob

  • You version is good. But I think it takes awy from the whole message of this song, about the hobo having no friends and thinking on Christmas when he was a kid and the good times he had with his friends.

  • HOBO!!! JUST A POOR LONELY HOBO!!!

  • I know. This is such a great song.

  • The hobo looks like Peter Fonda.

  • Who is Peter Fonda?

  • Peter Fonda played Burnett Stone in "Thomas and the Magic Railroad".

  • I have never seen that. Is he releated to that 80s exercise freak Jane Fonda?

  • Yes

  • Oh great Jane Fanda was afreak in my opinion. BOb

  • I agree with you!

  • I know my mom had one of her workout tapes. It was annoying that way she SANG while she exercised. That is just weird.

  • Agreed!

    Take care,

1f5sda (1 for 5 splendid days of awesomeness)

  • Take Care I should probably shut up before I get in trouble my other people.

  • I've never even heard of this before. Cool stuff.

  • From The Show Shining Time Station.

  • Awesome song; have it on VHS "'Tis a Gift".

  • That is where I got it from. I watch it every Christmas. Bob

  • very beautiful song and video:) its so sweet

  • I love this song.
