wtf people, zeppelin's first release was 2 years earlier than sabbath's and sure it was much heavier than other contemporaries...but you can't call them metal, zeppelin started playing metal with immigrant song from led zep 3, which was in 1970, but sabbath had a much darker and more metal approach in music, they always had..
don't forget that "in rock" deep purple's debut album featuring mk II line up was released earlier in 1970. That record is even heavier than Black Sabbath debut first lp.

They were both formed in 68 but "Led Zepplin" came out in 69 and "Black Sabbath" came out in 70 so Zepplin was first and Zepplin is 100% metal man. Don't forget that Sabbath was classified as rock when they first came out as well.
Yeah Zep came out in '69 but Zep I & II were totally Blues (You shook me, Bring it on home) and rought Rock 'n' Roll (Communication Breakdown, Heartbreaker). Zep III was totally Folk Rock. Later there were some Zep Song I would call Heavy Metal influenced like Achilles last stand, but Sabbath were Metal from the start, always playing influenced by Blues nevertheless.

They were both formed in 68 but "Led Zepplin" came out in 69 and "Black Sabbath" came out in 70 so Zepplin was first and Zepplin is 100% metal man. Don't forget that Sabbath was classified as rock when they first came out as well.

Yeah Zep came out in '69 but Zep I & II were totally Blues (You shook me, Bring it on home) and rought Rock 'n' Roll (Communication Breakdown, Heartbreaker). Zep III was totally Folk Rock. Later there were some Zep Song I would call Heavy Metal influenced like Achilles last stand, but Sabbath were Metal from the start, always playing influenced by Blues nevertheless.
So to me Sabbath started Metal.
And Led Zeppelin is the greatest Band ever besides the Beatles.

Metallica are a great band, I'm a big fan, but I wouldn't call them more skilled than Sabbath. They can create more complex stuff, but that's not what skill only comes down to, as I see it. Opinions I suppose ^^

back in 1968 when sabbath made there first song Black Sabbath they first played it a blues club, people would scream and run out. from what i can tell Zeppelin never got that kind of a reaction in a concert...

Hard Rock = Hard Rock = Led Zeppelin
anyways there first 2 album's weren't that much hard rock anyways.

LMFAO Are you kidding me? Lars Ulrich's drums are 10 times as complex as Bill Ward's. As far as bass, from Kill Em All - Master Of Puppets not a chance, Cliff Burton DESTROYS Geezer Butler!! From Black Album - Reload yes Geezer is WAY better than Gayson Jewstead. St. Anger & Death Magnetic not a chance, Rob Trujillo is even better then Cliff Burton!!

@Anes993 It's not really opinion man. Hence, "technically speaking". The techniques Rob uses and the licks he write are far more complex and musically sound than both bassists. TECHNICALLY speaking he is a FAR better bassist than both Burton and Geezer!
