  • I heard Ms. Brewer recently; she was one of the soloists with the Atlanta Symphony's performance of Verdi's Requiem. Wow - fabulous!!!

  • I'm proud to go to the school (college) she graduated from. Although you can tell how old this video is by the fact it's Mckendree university now :)

  • I have a chance to hear her this Sunday in Gainesville Florida where I sing with the Civic Chorus .

  • Believe it or not, I am in my school's production of Moliere's "The Miser" as Frosine and I actually get to WEAR a dress and bodice WORN BY CHRISTINE BREWER! Costumes had me try the bodice on today and I walked out and made a comment that I felt like a half dressed opera queen. The head of costumes said "Well you should feel like a half dressed opera queen, because that dress was worn by Christine Brewer." I was instantly humbled just by being in the same room as that gorgeous piece of history.

  • Very special, a real artist.

  • I saw her last night in concert and stumbled on this video...what a fantastic woman!

  • I was totally unfamiliar with her until now.. and all I can say is WOW

  • Her voice is one of the best around. So huge but with superb technique. She has excellent pitch and phrases like...a violinist. (Singers can learn a lot from instrumentalists.)

  • As can instrumentalists can learn a lot from vocalists...Each version of music is difficult in different ways.

  • her voice is velvet. and she seems so nice. i watched the whole video!! beautiful story!!!

  • She came to Dallas and did the Missa Solemnis and I got to sing in the chorus of it and then met her afterwards.

She is Truly a Great & FUN person there is NO diva about her just genuine!!

I hope we get to meet again and sing.

Her voice reminds me a great deal of Eileen Fareel!

  • A charming lady who is kind as noted by the support for the young people's orchestra

  • I love all the awesome posts! Christy is my aunt and I love her dearly. She is so fun and soooo down to earth. Thanks for all the nice words about her!

  • A truly great singer, no other word for it. Also a joyous person, loved over here in the UK, especially by me!

  • Cristine Brewer rules!

  • She has a great voice. It's so .... classical. I'd love to see more clips of her on youtube.

  • She reminds me of Rita Hunter. Seems like a great lady

  • She is amazing. I hope I get the chance to see her live some day. Furthermore, this is an awesome piece of journalism. Why can't there be more positive, truly human stories like hers on television?!

P.S. Christine, you are beautiful just the way you are. Don't go pull a Debbie Voight and ruin your voice just to look better in a dress!!

  • She is a truly amazing performer and person. I currently attend her alma mater, McKendree University and have met and sung for her several times. She is a truly genuine and brilliant woman.

  • Oh my god, plus the story problem she used to illustrate currency exchange involved a 10 pound hamburger.

I intended to watch only a small portion of this, but wound up watching the entire thing start-to-finish. What a delightful lady.

  • In your face, girl from high school that got to play Eliza Doolittle.

    I heart the Brewer.

  • Thanks for the post. I've heard great things about her...can you post some full voice pieces? Casta Diva Visse D'arte or something...thanks
