  • the feeling of that song is awesome, bono and the edge in the solo and in the end, bono and adam claiton..

  • What the hell? Anti-America? You guys realize this concert was in America right?

  • i'll tell ya who doesnt hate america, Bono doesn't hate america, we made him one rich-ass muther fucker!

  • everybody hates america , until they need help, oh then its come america, i say screw them. you hate us, you want to kill us. you figure all your problems out.

  • @zqtheman america is the problem we're trying to figure out

  • If you've never explored the world beyond the McDonald's around the corner from your house, I guess this cry for global socioeconomic justice would sound pretty strange and anti-American.

  • rockin

  • to all the idiots that think this song means they hate america or americans, you r a bunch of idiots. Its a little more complex than your one way minds.

  • @hinterlander How do we help their country out, pray tell?

  • Awesome!

  • "i think thats kinda bullshit"

  • i never realized how full of hate and anti american this band was until just now.

  • @okrabay

You know, there's one America and another one Amerika.....one exports guitars, good emotions and feelings while the other one exports bombs and killings through the world. Do you know for example what is the Orange Agent that was used during the Vietnam war?

  • Whoa... Mind=blown

  • I like this version.

  • Everybody, especially from USA, should know the meaning of this song

  • Anybody know how they did the spotlight bit at 4:01? At the J-Tree show where I first saw this song played (Tampa, FL 12-5-87), it seemed the "throw" the sound where he pointed the light. It's not just a stereo mixing trick on the DVD, it was a real live effect. Blew everybody away, but so did the entire show. Best concert I've ever seen, any band, before or since. Know a guy whose first concert ever was that show--talk about setting the bar high! U2 fan since 6-22-83 on the War tour.

  • Good tune.

  • I think thats kinda bullshitty

  • great great version

all the instruments sound as one, and couldn't sound any better than this...

u2 wasn't just a great band, but live they were far better than most of the other bands

  • The very end end of this song always reminds me of the beginning of White America from Eminem..

  • Outside is America !

    Outside is America !

  • Brilliant performance. Brilliant song. I feel like this is the trajectory The Clash was on towards. Even in Bono's gesticulations and spoken word part bring to mind Joe Strummer at his peek. Good work.

  • ONE HUNDRED

    TWO HUNDRED

  • @idriveaboxster slappin em down

Where is the love..... another U2 song....

  • The best album song studio that goes to Live............ PERIOD!!!

Wish the Beatles could have done the same with Helter Skelter!!!

But Bono took care of that Charlie u sick fuck>

  • were is this concert?

  • Comment removed

  • @Stealth8O77 ouch! sorry man is not Denver,is Tempe,Arizona

  • this song is inspired by Bono's experiences in El Salvador, but is against violence all over the world.

  • What a mighty tune with even mightier message!

  • this version is higher than the original and others live version is amazing!!!!

  • Adam...what a legend!

  • 1 dislike aha, 1. What a loner.

  • One person ran out of bullets

  • @snuffembuzz Bullets are bad

  • The song is talking about how bullets are bad, Not saying they are good

  • I remember reading that this wasn't well-received in Ireland. I have no idea what they were smoking because this is just great.

  • The Edge has more presence than any other guitar player out there. Yet he plays much less.

  • awesome but edge keep to the guitar, there is no way you are on the factory cuts

  • I hope my neighbours like this...

  • THANK YOU LADS GREAT JOB

LOVE EACH OTHER FORWARD TOWARDS THE LIGHT ;¬ )

  • This should be the fucking pledge of alligance

  • Bono's a fucking lunatic... in a really good way

  • From the day I was born, my parents had U2 playing nonstop. I am 21 years old, living my own life, and I'm finding myself doing the same. The best thing they ever did for me was introduce me to this awesome band.

Forever thankful to them for that.

  • this guy comes up to me, his face is red like a rose on a thorn bush

  • Edge, Effects Meister

    "Into the Arms of America"

  • I saw u2 on Saturday it was AMAZING!!!!!!!!

  • @Mssipequeen what did they do? anggel of harlem , side b of the joshua tree!?

  • The Old U2, is the real U2!!! EPIC SONG, EPIC VERSION

  • Just .. Brilliant.

  • By the way, Edge Strato's has AWESOME sound

  • Best rock band EVER

  • One of the greatest performances of any song ever.

  • This is one of the mightiest Planet Earth's songs of all times!

  • THIS is the U2 I fell in love with!

Define irony: "a preacher (...) stealing money from the sick and the old" well isn't that what Bono is doing nowadays, in the name of Africa? I'm guessing that Bono has become the mirrorball man, the exact type of figure he was making a parody of during the ZooTV tour

  • US cock suckers!!!! and tax evaders...hahaa!!! that's U2

These guys are not Irish!!! they are US Brits!!!

  • US cock suckers!!!! and tax evaders...hahaa!!! that's U2

  • "The God I believe in isn't short on cash, mister." BAM, NAILED IT!

  • Great sound quality, great song, great vid.

  • @mattwfair this is from thier tour doc 'Rattle and Hum" If you liked this, it's a must see.

  • this is one of the few songs thats is even more powerful LIVE than off the JOSHUA TREE lbum.

  • I hadnt seen this before. Not only is the sound amazing, but how about that lighting!?! Fuckin magical. Their political songs are not annoying like other artists. Theyre right on point and important. Not sure if bono wrote this song, but whoever did is a genius!!! Agree?

  • @avzeolla Yeah Bono wrote this song. He was inspired when he visited El Salvador in the mid 80's during the war. I agree about their political songs I think they are trying to make us aware of the things going on around the world. This is one of my favorite U2 songs.

  • @FUCKWHITEPEOPLEable Congrats. You sound as a ignorant as someone in the klan or skinhead movement.

  • This is My favorite U2 song of all time.

  • This live version pretty much blows the studio version right out of the water.

  • @vodude I can say that for many U2 songs not only for this, live versions are much better than studio versions, but this is only for some songs ,not for all of them!

  • outside it's America

  • Yeah ya aki en México

gran concierto gran cancion gran banda

  • I can't get over the sound quality. Holy crap.

  • It's an ironic Stetson. Apparently.

  • loook at sepultura

  • @vars666 POD:D

  • Truly I wish I was born years earlier JUST to see this live. :o

  • 5:20- Clayton is lookin' a bit creeper-ish there. xD

  • best Edge's solo ever! Love this song! Love these guys!

  • @vhtr232 because he is coked out of his mind. :thumbs up:

  • WOW - I hope my neighbours like this song !!!

  • @Echnaton1954 ...Hey they cam move..

  • @Echnaton1954 Yeah the beginning just gives you chills with the drums and the edge!!

  • I still have this on casette tape excellent performance

  • I love having my volume absolutely CRANKED to this song. This song is proof that U2 intelligent, as well as super badass.

  • epi, love this song

  • my brother and i use to do these he was the edge and i was bono with a flashlight one of the greatest rock poses ever.

  • Adam doesn't speaks a lot... but when he does, he's great.

  • Bono´s talk from 4:45 until the end of the song just makes me cry because I´m aware what he means and I guess you do too .."for the rich we´re always forgotten even they need us for to pick all their cotton" .. Here in Sweden people get more and more interested to give Bono the world wide greatest declaration - Nobel Price in Peace.

  • @Echnaton1954 peace prize? J. Carter, A. Gore, B. Obama Give me a BREAK.

  • @stonedc7 ... Yes this is a song about USA, but Bonos work for peace moves all over earth f.ex. small poor countries no one knows or cares about. It´s not only a question about USA. USA ain´t everything, there others too. Nobel Peace also includes hunger, huminity, sickness, nature etc. 5 years ago Al Gore promised to come and help us getting a wood into a nature place. He never showed up. Sorry baby ... I´have to catch another bus ... Bono keeps what he promissed for 100%

  • @Echnaton1954 You really need to do some research, The US gives more to people in need then the rest of the world combined. And what do we get is spit on! I say we should stop the money for third world countries then they would have a reason to hate us. AL Gore is a douchebag he does not care only for himself, Get that crap out of your system, It has been proven that the US has given more to the blight of starving people that would make the rest of the world spin.

  • @1998disco72 Al Gore already got his Nobel Prize in Peace 2007

  • @stonedc7 Jimmy Carter? I agree give me a break!

  • @1998disco72 Jimmy Carter already got his Nobel Prize in Peace 2002, Al Gore got it 2007 and Barack Obama got it 2009, baby.

  • There was no megascreen or big structure... only big hearts and a loud voice. Sometimes I miss this U2, but the times change, the industry changes and we are older. Never was more true, Jacob wrestled the angel and the angel was overcome...

  • The Edge has a beautiful voice!

LOVE the drums in this song.

  • Wow. Fantastic song. Def the best!

  • How I would kill to be Adam clayton

  • Definitely U2s best song!!!

  • 4:00 - 4:20 - WOW!

  • Edge is severely underrated as a guitarist. The man created his own sound. Case closed.

  • @rko815 Yes, you´re that right. All night through I listened to all the groups life records I´ve got at home. This morning I put The Edge up between my favorite players. Bono said that both him and The Edge always look at notes like they are realy expensive and they always wait to use them until it gets time in the last second. Case closed.

  • @rko815 You put this the right way: Edge has created his own sound; this song is the living proof that he is an amazing guitarist! One thing I love about the band is that they perform as a whole; you can hear Bono's vocals even in Mullen's drums or in the Edge's guitar riffs and Clayton's basslines.. Watching their live performances in videos is a great inspiration..!

  • Pure genius... The lyrics, the voice, the distored guitar-sounds (the sound of El Salvador, according to Bono), the thumping bass and the merciless drums of Larry. Everything about this song fits...

  • very good live performance A+++

  • Holy shit, wat een verschrikkelijk goede plaat blijft dit toch!

  • @ivoterp

    Exactly!!

  • The EPIC version of the Bullet The Blue Sky............breathless....I saw U2 4 days ago....Magical.....but i wish i was i that stadium during Rattle And Hum tour.........

  • @Gpol71 My favourate is ZOO TV version

  • @Gpol71 Only at sun devil stadium in Tempe can this happen.

  • i missed the old U2...

  • @afby

    Me too

  • @afby me too!

  • @afby same here there last album was Rattle and Hum!!

  • Totally. I loved to surf to the old U2......so energetic and raw! The new shit sucks in my humble opinion!!!

  • @afby

    I didn't. And it was ...quite simply...glorious.

  • @afby i love the old U2, but I love the new U2 too....

  • I am 37 years old and I remember listening to this song when the Joshua Tree was released 23 years ago. I still listen to it regularly, it still blows me away and it is the sound of four lads making one fcuking collosal noise about the futility and insanity of war. Jesus Christ its the fcuking song to end all songs!

  • @planetcarlos same here..made me wanna be in a band straight away!

  • By far THE BEST live version of all time.

  • thinking about it, wasn't U2 doing some concert for obama ?

don't they have some oil smell about them now then ?

maybe something for the next videoclip ? bono drowning in oil ?

  • @vettemuziekjes To put the record staight Paul Hewson is a humanitarian who just so happens to play in a band.

  • @mspugs44 what record ? is it a good one ? hahaha.

no kidding, i see your point of view, i even partially agree.

    thanks for your imput. cheers.

  • @mspugs44 No

  • @breachmania No What? Do u KNOW sth I don't?

  • Comment removed

  • @breachmania Yes but I still feel is a humanitarian first and by the way he can play various instruments and write really great songs.

  • interesting discussion about mixing music and politics.

i just think musicians should make as much music about politics as they like.

though i think it's more like propaganda when political parties hire musicians

to write songs about how wonderfull they are.

but then, should that be forbidden because i happen to dislike the political message ? i'dd say if i had a band i wouldn't stake it's reputation on some politician.

let's just hope it leads to more discussion and thus understanding anyways.

  • F'n EPIC!
