You guys saying you need internet connection to navigate are totally and completely WRONG. Nokia's phones with GPS receptor inside of them DO NOT need internet connection AT ALL to navigate. You download the maps from your PC to your phone (you can download the whole globe) and then use them when outside. All places in the world will be in your phone's memory and you will NOT need a internet connection. You can download countries separately, though.
Is the GPS built in? or does it uses GPRS or Bluetooth

There is a BETA that gives it pinch to zoom! At the moment the OVI maps had the old interface and the improvements are coming :)

On my E52 (with recent OVI maps) I have an online/offline option:
Menu -> Applications -> GPS -> Maps -> Options -> Settings -> Internet -> Connection -> Online/Offline
