  • Frankie Lymon's voice was much more powerful than Michael Jackson's.

  • The good thing about Pink Flamingos is that it isn't good. That's the whole point.. But this music is just sublime!

  • The music is good its been years since I seen the movie I wonder where i could find it

  • What was Frankie doing @:14-:18?

  • @breezwonder

    Geetin his swag on

  • Whose better? Michael and Frank lymon I would say were both child prodigys. Because frankie died so quick, its hard to acknowledge whether he would match michaels success. In relation to vocals, I would say they are basically equal, but michael is a bit more higher due to his work ethic from a young age which made him get better and better in relation to his dancing..

  • I think these old songs sound better than the crappy 21st-century songs, and I'm 16

What's funny is that he turned out to be a juvenile delinquent

  • I am 23, and I love Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers:)

  • im 74 and what is thiss

  • He was 13 or 15

  • Im glad people still like oldies

  • Dang that bass guy killed it, Sherman right? Amazing voice

  • I'm 9 and I love it

  • how old was he in this vid ,[ Frankie ]

  • rip sherman garnes u rock!

  • I'm no longer a juvenile, but I'm still a delinquent! ;-)

  • dis song go

  • R.I.P Frankie i love this song

  • Sherman Garnes stole the show.

  • the expression of frankie's face makes this song more enjoyable

  • @IAmDottieDandridge oh yeah and after that maybe you can dig up mozarts kinky pictures. Who other than some 70 yr olds wants to see frankie lymon.

  • @halluci444 If you watched this, you must like Frankie Lymon, too! Are you 70?

  • @7shannonmarie Nope, I'm 25 and I love the oldies.

  • To bad unlike michael frankie did not no way to alter the sound of his voice no one could coach him like michael had diana to teach him tricks ! See Frankie you shouldve went to motown !!!

  • @TheJazzplease michael is still immensly talented though. And michael onmly imitated dianas ooohs.

  • the odd future of their time

  • Kind of ironic that he died of a heroin overdose at 25. Sad, but still an oddly awesome song.

  • Loved him then, love him now.

  • thumbs up if ur a dumbass that cares wut year ur watching this

  • @CVPSYCHO LMAO!

  • Man! Could that guy sing! He had the better voice; Michael Jackson was a better dancer, but who cares? All I know is that the music lives on and thank God for that!

  • Que voz la de este chico!

  • I love shermans deep voice

  • I love this type of music, and even this song, but it seems like everyone who comments on videos for music like this tend forget a lot of things.

Most decades and generations are exactly the same, just played out with different style. Frankie Lymon died of a drug overdose at only 25. There was just as much chaos and destruction then as there is now, but that's what makes good music. This and most modern music is based on the blues, and there would never had been blues without problems.

  • wonderful

  • PHENOMENAL that voice is one in a billion

  • @143eaglesfan Affirmative to watching this in 2011.

  • damn y the best have to die.beautiful voice

  • Pink Flamingos, Divine. So sweet.

  • @voltaman33 Good movie im 21 an all my friends think im crazy because i like that movie, but john walters is a good director.

  • @mgballer09 That movie is weird but entertaining, it's such a freakshow you can't look away. This song is awesome and what a voice! I wanted my comment to be kinda vague and you got it =)

  • Did anybody notice the dougie /brush the shoulder move.

  • 6 ppl r juvenile delinquents

  • it's like watching a japenese movie

  • Pink Flamingo

  • I'm sorry but I just have to say that Frankie has the BEST voice of any child singer I have ever heard. When he hits those notes it doesn't seem forced like MJ its so melodic. Now b4 U guys jump down my throat I love MJ and thought he was the best child singer of all time until I heard Frankie...

  • i luvv hisvoice whoever qot him doinq druqs shuld e ashamed of thierselvees it makes meh mad..i love qoody qoody

  • HIS VOICE IS JUST SIMPLY AMAZING....I LOVE IT!!! =)

  • Thats the way to do it!!

  • Damn, that boy had the voice of a mature woman. I'm just looking up the song on youtube because I heard it on the Internet and liked the sound of it. Since I didn't know these guys, I thought the lead was a female.

  • @JoshuaNorton i cound have written the same post except for hearing it on the internet

  • I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee this song!!!

  • his voice is soo powerfull people actually have their voice altered with to sound as good as his do. he really had a gift

  • this was the first record i bought

  • brilliant so nice to hear this amazing song again many thanks

  • Does anyone know the name of the bass singer?

  • @theboyfromxtown Sherman Garnes

  • @JRussoBuffaloNY

    THANK YOU....

  • @theboyfromxtown you're welcome my friend

  • @PassWorId he was a heroin addict by the age of 15, do you have any clue what that is like to over come? the pain this kid went through is unreal . it's a shame your opinions are so shallow.

  • I love this song. Frankie was so talented, I wish he wouldn't have died so young. He was a great singer and dancer. He was like an early Michael Jackson. R.I.P. Frankie Lymon.

  • All I know is he was so talented and I have listened to him so much and studied all of his interviews i feel like i know him lol well i feel like i know him and leadbelly.

  • Definitely sung his heart out.

Is there anybody today who could do a cover version of this song in the same style?

    I doubt it.

I don't doubt some could do a fubar* version but few could come close.

    *F.U.B.A.R. :-

    F.U.....work this out for yourself.

    B.A.R. = Beyond All Recognition.

  • I LOVE THIS KID!!!!!!!!!!HIS VOICE IS SO AMAZING!!

  • such an amazing talented kid. frankie lymon and michael jackson are the greatest child singers that ever lived.

  • @SuperJazzymusic my thoughts exactly

  • @theoldschoolfool1 its nice to see that others besides me understand music. And cool username, i am an oldschool fool as well. Lol. :)

  • @SuperJazzymusic i know, our generation is so blind. Its scary to see whats happening to this world. such a relief to meet someone who shares my views

  • MAD VOICE FOR A LITTLE BOY!!!!!!!<3

  • His voice sounds like if god himself made it as perfect and as flawless as it cud be

  • THA BASS SINGER IS SOOOOOO SEXIFUL ;)

  • @afrykabarbie Sherman Garnes is his name, he's the reason I began singing bass/baritone with my group here in NY. the Teenagers were the best!

  • These guys were the "predecessors" to the Jackson Five if you really think about it.........

  • One of the most amazing talents in the history of music. Sadly, Frankie never received the credit that he so richly deserved. Easily as good as Micheal Jackson and maybe even better.

  • heartbreaking such a talent was lost so early in life. The familiar story of a childhood star :(

  • wow what a voice...

  • Thats The Shit.......Good Shit.......Fuck Yea =)

  • 580+ saints and 6 juvies, take em away boys

  • ironically he died of a drug overdose........ I suppose he was a juvenile delinquent.

  • @V1K1NG94 the drugs came later I think after his career was over ( 1958)

  • @V1K1NG94 well he was adult at that time so your irony holds no validity.greetings from NY,enjoy.

  • @JRussoBuffaloNY very true also im from new york so greetings from new york to you too. lol

  • @V1K1NG94 Hey everyone makes mistakes.

  • That voice is so sonorous, rich and mature, and he's only what, 13? What a talent, and so short-lived.

  • This is what i call good music!! and to all of you who feel the need to post racist statements on here, your're doiing nothing but letting it be know that you feel oudone, belittled, and/or jelous because of the major come up that has taken place within the African American community. Our succcess is not superior or inferior... it's a success. SUCCESS!!! Thamks for stopping by, enjoy OUR show! :-)

  • @Chicago2Arkansas, Well said! and so eloquently yet without stopping yourself down to the mud.

  • Comment removed

  • I am NOT a juvenile delinquent ( that is true to ) :)) <3

  • Damn my dawg Frankie Lymon is brushing the dirt off his shoulders and get"n ready to lay it down for them females. That's wussup! lol

  • Great group, tragic story. The two guys on the right (Jimmy Merchant and Herman Santiago) are still alive. Joe Negroni, the guy on the far left died young. Sherman Garnes, the tall guy between Negroni and Merchant, died in jail. Franky Lymon died of a drug overdose at 26.

  • Some of Frankie's faces during his performance were epic.

  • my boyfriend embarrasses me wih this song.

  • This is the first pop song I ever got hooked on. I never tire of listening to it.

    Great stuff.

  • fuck who ever dislikes

  • I think had one of the most distinct voices of all time. It's amazing how he sang with such clairity in his voice, at such a young age. he had happiness in his voice, and man he could reach those notes. When I hear him sing it puts a smile on my face. He was the first Michael Jackson.

  • @MalikX97 And also with serious personal problems, sadly.

  • I think his voice was prettier though. Both are great but I dig Frankie's voice as a kid better.Michael had an excellent voice though for sure.

  • Dead at 25 from a heroin overdose, what a complete waste!

  • I find it peculiar that at age 14 he still had this pitch of voice. Different adolescents undergo voice change at different ages, we all know that. It's the fact that to me, he looks like a younger kid than his age (looks like he may be as young as 10 or 11), and has a very high pitched voice. When I first learned that when he made "Why Do Fools Fall In Love" he was already 14, I was surprised. Needless to say, this voice pitch wouldn't last long past age 14, and we all know what happened to him

  • @dror91 You find that peculiar? What about Michael Jackson? The pitch of his voice didn't change his entire life.

  • @Foxtrot369 This is absolutely true, maybe they weren't thinking thoroughly lol

  • @dror91 I was 18 when my voice broke and I'm glad it did. I sound like a 40 year old ;)

  • There will never be another Frankie RAW TALENT

  • Frankie Lymon was great in the day...

  • Aww, look at what Justin Bieber did! He started to throw an ego tantrum at the dislike button cause he can't handle Frankie's talent? Or was it Jay Z cause he couldn't handle that Frankie was getting that dirt off of his shoulders way before he was born?

  • I agree that the movie deteriorated and became a silly comedy. It would have been a great movie if it had concentrated more on Lymon. I hope someone else will try again to make a movie of his life especially during the early years.

  • The Frankie Lymon movie had a chance to be a powefull story, but dropped the bomb by concentrating on the wives fighting over his royalties. Here was a young talented kid,who not only tranformed the NYC music scene, but was liked all over the world, even playing for the Queen of England. He may have grown up too fast, having sex with grown women, involvement with drugs, crossing the racial barriers back in the day etc... but he left his mark one the world and left us too soon.

  • One race-the human race.

  • u guyz are all stupid he died in his mid 20s

  • @mya10231 yea but 25 is still young

  • That whole show was cool. I like that he was singing about good and doing the right thing. His voice is so great and upbeat. Must have been interesting to know him.

  • The intensity of Frankie's performances explains his early demise. It's hard to be so talented, tuned in and "on"and keep that intensity up for years. His gift was a double edged sword and he lost. Not just an American, but a human legend.

  • Oh the irony

  • hahahahahah wow

  • he is 14 and he killed him self when he was 17

  • @saitrade He did not kill himself when he was 17, he overdosed when he was 26.

  • @saitrade He was 25, my bad.

  • I love Frankie's enthusiasm, smile, and of course his voice. Close your eyes, smile and enjoy it!

  • omg how OLD is he ??

  • my god , he should have moved to england , were we embraced talent and not race or creed , will we ever in this life give the respect where it should be given , nat cole , sammy davis , muddy walters , the platters , etc , etc , i could go on for ages , this kid was fantastic , and unfortunatley died a few years after , he never had anyone looking out for him , as he should , please just listen to the talent in this kid , name me anyone since , michael jackson maybe , who was as talented

  • THIS RIGHT HERE is my fav performance of theirs lol

  • Man this guy had more talent in his pinky then most of these singers today how could he express himself like that at such a young age

  • too bad frankie didn't follow his own advice

  • @NIghtRider805 too true.

  • listen to silhouettes on the shades, its a great track , i beleive you,l find it on here too !

  • this lad was absolutely brilliant, whatever he did or became of him did not have any affect on his ability to belt out hits that he had, he had loads, i have the frankie lymon album my daughter managed to buy for me , and also a rock n roll video i bought when my 2kids were 10 and 11yrs old which this footage is on , my grandkids are that age now and sing along to his music in the car ! lol ...artists could actualy sing in them days and are a pleasure to listen to.

  • Im not making fun of Frankie Lymon but i think its really ironic that he sings this song considering what he did later in his life. By the way this song is great.

  • If you've seen the movie Why Do Fools Fall In Love.. the audience in the beginning clapping is the same here then it was in the movie in the very first performance in the credits.. cool!

  • @Dunkninja OMG I HAVE SEEN IT ITS THE MOST AMAZING MOVIE

  • Alas.

  • Frankie was brushing his shoulders off in the beginning...LOL.

  • I can't stop watching this. its been in my favs for months and i keep coming back :D

  • GO C NEW WEST ORDER AND DECEVIO ON YOUTUBE 2012 PHAROH

  • Jeez Louise. There's a few juvenile delinquents posting comments on this, no? I'm struggling to recall when I last read such bollocks. Anywhere on YouTube. And that's saying something! No wonder people end up on smack. Anything to escape other people and their 'opinions'.

  • everyone is racist down inside. black, brown, red, white, or yellow.. doesn't matter. as long as you don't act out on it, that's fine. i think that's what america is about.

  • Anyways! This song is awesome!

  • What super talented group of singers. Frankie was the Michael Jackson of his day. If only he had lived longer. Their dancing is out of this world.

  • i dont think any one can hit a note like himn. . . .

  • One of my favorite songs when I was ten years old. I still love this song. It sure is a shame what stupity and drugs will do. All that talent wasted.

  • the worst mistake blacks made was integrating with whites

  • @DeportAnchorBabies hahaha look whose back with hatred! i knew your agenda, you made it clearer this time and didn't try to cover it up! you just go scouting for videos to spread your crap ass prejudice remarks. reverse white supremacist!

  • Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers were definitely rock pioneers, and they were definitely ahead of their time

  • Fantastic singer. A great loss to all.

  • now you see how much drugs can mees up your life he died at age of 28 and he still had a lot of more life ahead of him

  • @2678dhetysjk Born September 30, 1942

    Died February 27, 1968 (aged 25)

  • i wish frankie was still alive

  • when ever i hear this song i can't help but to think of divine shoving a piece of meat up her skirt...lol

great song can't beat the classics!!!

  • This group was one of my favorites back in the '50's when I was in middle school, I think these guys would put many of today's singers to shame, sorry but thats just my opinion, no disrespect intended.

  • @kboyzrock , I happen to agree with you, music from this period was the best

  • @kboyzrock Totally agree.

  • did you know the white audience wasn't actually in the same room, when they did the performance.....SMH

  • What a voice ,what a guy,what a loss,r.i.p frankie,we miss you

  • Frankie Lymon is my favorite singer... I'm so sad he died... i was born in 96...and i look to him as a hero .Most people these days born in 96 like beyonce ,justin bieber, and or selena gomez...and theyre very very talented but this boy at the age of 13 had the most talent out of MOST of todays current stars...he sung his heart out...and let us know the meaning of real music...Franki Lymon may you rest in peace and know that we love you and your beautiful inspirational music

  • On February 27, 1968, Lymon was found dead of a heroin overdose at age 25. Lymon, a Baptist, was buried at Catholic Saint Raymond's Cemetery in the Throgs Neck section of The Bronx, New York City, New York.

  • That is HARD work! They may make it seem easy, but they really wanted to own this and were prepared to put in the work to make it and themselves succeed! I'm glad that they made it at least for a short time!

  • his voice sounds magical ... i love it =)

  • he did have talent though.

  • he died of a heroine overdose at the age of 25 and before that he reaptedly went AWOL from the United States Army until he was dishonorably discharged from the Army so he technically was a juvenile delinquent or at least a delinquent.

  • Pink flamingos ^^

    Love this song

  • @ArgWoman I didn't think I would see someone mention Pink Flamingos on this; I love Divine and John Waters =D

  • This is a music channel so could you please keep comments about the music and not Racism or politics. Frankie Lymon made some fantastic records as did many others in the 1950's. It is now 2010 and I find it so hard to believe there is still so much racial hatred in the world. GIVE PEACE A CHANCE!!

  • @Ceejayqb I agree with you Ceejay, it is a shame that some cant see past the colour to the heart, and the talent, I say, judge the talent, or in some cases lack of, smiles, and leave colour out of it, PEACE IS THE PATH TO ENLIGHTENMENT.

  • @Ceejayqb we all dream of that day as long as there is ignorant people we will never get to live together in peace

  • @Ceejayqb as sad as it may be this is the world we live in...

  • @Ceejayqb Oh God Yes...what a world this would be if all the hate were gone...

  • big ups frankie u were amazing

  • @m3devac, give it a rest, those comments are so old and piss me off on every music video I watch.

  • This song is good, but the lyrics are so bias and untrue lol.. It's not easy to be good, but i understand the concept of the song.

  • Before the Jackson 5 there was Frankie Lymon & the Teenages.....
