Look at "I Should Be So Lucky." They dashed that off in like 5 minutes, just to get rid of Kylie -- because they'd never heard of her and couldn't be bothered. And that became a massive worldwide hit only months later. They were true geniuses and I worship them.

S/A/W did have big hits here in the US but they were interspersed with lots of other types of music on the pop charts at the time -- which I think diluted their overall sustainability, and ultimately, their memorability on this side of the pond. However this was a sound that was exported all over the world at the time -- a remarkable achievement, and one which makes your Motown comparison quite apt.

Yes the lyrics are quite 'youngish' but it's complemented by the whimsical lullabye melody which I LOVE! She has amazing energy AND she smiles as well which is something you RARELY get to see in music videos nowadays.
