This is the only theme song I can remember that really made an impact on me in any video game. I remember returning to the town to find everyone dead and this song really set that mood. Being 6 or 7 years old, I think I wanted to cry for the people of Shyron, lol.
Only other game that had music this eery was Friday the 13th on NES. I swear I never wanted to go in a house to look for Jason, because they'd play the creepy music and suddenly he jumps out of left field, lol.
I've been whistling this tune from time to time for nearly twenty years without ever hearing it again... I've been looking for it on YouTube, and even though you posted over a year ago, I just found it...
This was indeed a turning point in my experience of VGs, the first time I felt emotionally drawn by the plot. That, with this song as its symbol, made Crystalis my very first real entitlement to VGs.
I think this was the first time I can remember there being a plot twist in the middle of any video game that drew me into the story emotionally as I was playing. (Remember, those 8 bit plots were usually very simplistic if not non-existant) You come back to Shyron and the whole town has been wiped out and decimated by Draygon's forces, including many key allies of yours, and this deeply tragic music is playing and of course its smartly used only for Shyron.
thanks for posting this, been looking for it. this song was my favorite from the game, i got creeped out when you get the telepathy message saying Shyron was under attack.

I cried so hard the first time I heard this. Granted I was 6 so it hit me a bit harder than normal.

Yes, that was a very sad scene! It really gets you motivated to defeat Draygon!
