@11theGOODFELLA He was supposed to be that way, do your research and check out the description of Melvin Purvis. Bale went around and spent days with the Purvis family to captivate the character. Depp was on screen for 2 hours and 20 minutes, this movie was all about how cool he was(Dillinger) Bale did perfectly, Depp was just doing his usual ego bullshit, go back to your pirate movies Depp girl.
It's weird how Agent Purvis remained passive when Dillinger was questioning Purvis' abilities and his character - however, a simple "I'll see you down the road" got to him and compelled him to threaten Dillinger by saying he'll be executed.
This is almost like the integration from the dark knight, which is why I know Depp would nail the part if he plays the Joker in the next Batman movie (not the riddler, let Michael C. Hall from Dexter play him) Depp plays a weirdo in everything anyways

There is missing a part.. I need to know what Johnny Depp says before Christian Bale asks him "what keeps you awake at night, Mr Dillinger?" anybody knows?
@xXDannyGeraldoXx: I dont mean to try to shut you down, but I mean to speak my opinion. The Pac-Den scene in Heat had a similar message, but it was better acted. And I didn't like Bale in this movie at all. He was just flat, and kind of boring (at least compared to Depp). They should have casted an unknown instead of Bale, cuz he didnt have much screentime anyway. That way, the focus would be more on Dillingers life, rather than a parallel story to Heat. Still a good movie, though.

the camera work here is staggeringly bad, really just abominable. And this goes for practically all Michael Mann's (recent) movies.

Very nice!
I wish someone would post Bale's first scene in this, when Purvis takes down Pretty Boy Floyd, that part was awesome too!

I heard Depp and Bale have generated Oscar buzz for their performances.
And yes, this scene REALLY reminded me of the De Niro/Pacino scene in Heat. It's the only instance where they meet face to face.

Ain't no fuckin equivalence to Pacino De niro scene motherfucker... this isn't even an especially good scene...

Best two actors of this generation. This is the equivalence of the Pacino- Deniro scene in HEAT.
