The first hand with Nick going all in with Q7s was believable. Early in the tourney, three rags on board, no one was going to call him unless they had high over pair, or had a better flush draw and read that he didn't have the Ace.

Next hand they show is Paul Parker (legit) going all in preflop with 10 7o. Again, pretty loose hand, but at 4:08 it seems like the other guy folded, and Anne was BB with Paul on the button. We can imagine that Paul thought he could steal the blinds, Anne read him.

Derren did actually say that he could not predict the turn of a card and so Ann still might lose based on that alone. the point was to teach ann body readung skills to make it more likely she would win.

That show was never aired from what I recall. Hint! The quality of this video is so poor that we can't make out the cards. A higher resolution upload would tell if anyone was softplaying, etc... Using a cold deck? Pros throw out "non-bluff-bluffs" to look week when they're strong, and vice versa. Let's see what the folks on TwoPlusTwo have to say about it.

I'm interested to know, from a non-poker playing perspective what makes you so sure it was a set up. Do you not think it might just be possible for an expert like Derren to teach people like Ann what to look for in a poker playing opponent and thus gain an advantage. The clues are there, subtle, yes but readable if you know what to look for.

See, "tells" are not the only thing to look for in poker. You have to know the math, and be playing in position, and keeping an eye on the other players' position too. Pot odds, hand strength, calcuating outs and percentages to win on every street... Poker is just much more than tells. Like Mike Sexton says, "it takes a minute to learn, and a lifetime to master."
