  • Sure. He actually says "licks" his finger (rather than "lips"). Then in the section you mentioned, he says: “...and we all went on super alert. People start looking around and cuing off of each other, especially off of Sam Baron, who is the principal flutist and he’s right in the center of the orchestra. He’s nodding his head to Ted Weiss over in the trumpets and to Izzy [Isidore Cohen] over in the first violins, and we’re playing the piece without a conductor...”

  • @90046nello Thak you very much for the transcription and the correction; now I have understood everything, more or less.

  • I would like to read a transcription of his story; in English, too. I didn't understand since he says: "... and suddenly he stops, lips his finger, turns the page and continues conducting: now the orchestra is out of sync with him, and we all...", until he says: "... and we're playing the piece without the conductor..."
