  • All this time and I hadn't realized that the waterfall in the last scene is like a bride's veil. How beautiful.

  • When I listen to this song I allways get goosebumps when the first strings kick in! Woesh :)

  • yet another kickarse Bjork track...voice, video, mood, it's all there, just can't put a price on originality

  • ***}}}>>>*<<<{{{***

  • Beauty*full xxx

  • Has Peter Gabriel ever offer to do a project with Bjork? It'd be very interesting to see the result of these two geniuses working together!

  • @PhilistineTheArtLuvr WOW! Awesome idea. I never put the two together in my mind but that would be such a wonderful collaboration.

  • @PhilistineTheArtLuvr sadly, he's too full of himself it seems....

I really like him too...but his ego seems quite large... also he's not the best team-player...

  • @asafox That's what I'm afraid of. Good point.

  • This is one of my favorite songs.. Sometimes when I hear it, I visualize a tribal woman with a mask dancing around a fire as she tells the story of her adventures and of herself to the circle of other people of the tribe.

  • Song reminds me of a mushroom trip..."In the forest pitch dark glows the tiniest spark, it bursts into a flame, like me, like me..."

  • class

  • Oh how secret societies get mistaken for creativity through metaphoric embellishment.

  • You posted this video on my 7th birthday!!!!

  • Listening to Bjork is like having a unicorn licking your ear.

  • @getkristan OMG so right! LOL

  • My name is Isobel. I found this while searching my name on google xD

  • that's funny... They must have misspelled Guy Madden's name in the credits as Michel Gondry.

  • isobel as the inverse of mother nature? thats what i understand

  • I'm called isobel..this freaks me out O.o

  • @DearIsobelCountMeIn why? are you dumb?

  • @bille77 Why would i be dumb?

because my names isobel i didnt choose it. or because this song freaks me out? she sounds freaky maybe you like this but i dont. and i dont mean to offend anyone because i understand not everyones music taste is the same. some people may say my music taste is bad and say what i listen to (a mix of alot of things e.g my chemical romance, all time low,one direction, lady gaga, simple plan) is a bad taste in music which i get offended by because everyones different:)

  • @DearIsobelCountMeIn just from reading your one comment.. i think it might be wise of you to stay in school

  • @DearIsobelCountMeIn everybodys hatin on you, i see your point

  • This song makes me feel soooo much better.

  • she has a great voice

  • bjork = beautiful. she's given so much to music art and culture.

  • @DaiquiriSunset 5 people push the dislike button by mistake... I HOPE SO.

  • @DaiquiriSunset Shut up, you damn geek. No one cares how much of a fan you are

  • I compare her to no one. She is a courageous spirit to so strongly shine so bright! Namaste!

  • @breezee0622

u have to remember that shes not from here.. shes got plenty of recognition but americans are slow to everything around the world and we dont recognize true talent

  • I loved this. Much of the video was filmed in Dolgellau apparently!

  • i wore this song out in the 90s

  • All time fave from her.... Bjork, I'd STILL nom nom nom her.

  • i think Madonna copied this song.

  • @cosmicbirds Which song?

  • @andrewlebarbare well her song "Frozen" but i was kinda jkoing

  • @cosmicbirds Oh I see. But I kinda agree that Madonna got "inspired" by this kind of music.

  • @andrewlebarbare i think it's probable. i believe Madonna had a way of being inspired by people she worked with and Bjork did write a song for her.

  • Frozen is a fantastic song

  • @ernest671 yes yes it is. but she did plagarize the first four bars from another song.

  • Madonna didnt got inspiration from Bjork to make her Ray of light album, she got inspiration from the Bristol sound, techno, classical, ethnic and ambient music.

Frozen has a demand, excepting for those 20 seconds she did plagarize, the rest of the song is a masterpiece, so the entire album

  • @ernest671 i like the song but the fact is it was plagiarism and she got her ass sued. copying is what Madonna is good at.

  • @ernest671 I Believe Ray of Light was inspired specifically by Bjork. When Bjork worked with Nellee Hooper in 1993's Debut, Madonna hopped on Hooper for Bedtime Stories the next year, and Bjork contributed lyrics to that album's highlight, the title track. Madonna completely indulged in electronic music with Ray of Light, which was a processed, pop-ularized version of Bjork's music.

  • A lot of great music back then, even "big" stars like Madonna went underground, which is amazing. The 90s ruled.

    Bjork always kicks ass

  • @ernest671 That's nothing to be ashamed of; everyone's inspired by someone. On the other hand, it's not okay to be afraid to give credit to someone just b/c they're a contemporary.

  • We were driving home from this club (#'s) ,6 of us, and I was the designated driver. It was 6:20 AM and the sun was starting to creep up. Everyone else was asleep and I put this song into the radio and jammed it. It was like an etheral experience for me--totally alone and yet with the company of 6 other (sleeping) people. Sun was rising--It was like cleansing my head...to get out all the cobwebs from the previous night. Oh--and the bass lines shook my solar plexus. Good times.....

  • I relate so much to this song... Bjork makes songs I can finally relate to

  • Everytime I think I have a favorite Bjork...I find I have another and another and another....she is the bomb through and through.

  • Anyway, each video and song is amazing!!

C'est l'essence même de la musique libre.

  • For me the best Bjork song.

I saw her perform this live and the mystery and drama was felt by the whole audience. Everyone sang along as if they were in a trance by it.

    Its so so beautiful.

The video is amazing as well.

  • Creativity wihtout limits. It defines Björk and Gondry, an excelent artistic couple. (Excuse me for some wrong, my language is Spanish, no english)

  • Your English is very good, actually. :D

I agree with you. They make a very good artistic duo and such

  • Your English is just fine.

  • She lets nothing get in the way of her creativity. Every moment a surprise, an ahah !

  • this is so much better than the metal version! bjork is a forest godess!

  • in this video, she's wild and lovable at the same time...

  • to me, for whatever reason this song seems to shout gay pride... dont know why

  • Why? I don't see anything gay pridish about it.

  • It's an introspective song, you are no doubt thinking of yourself, time to bite the bullet and come out of the closet. It's OK, we won't laugh at you or anything.

  • guurl... i am out

  • The point isn't whether you are "out" or not, the point is that you judge everything based on your self so your interpretation of this song is muddled by your selfishness and huge ego. Get over yourself!

  • wow calm down, you dont know anything about me. whats your problem?

  • @alden21 I am having difficulty understanding your comment...are you asking Bjork to come out of the closet? I do believe she has stated before that everyone should try something different. Variety is the spice of life. Not her exact words, but you get what I am saying.

  • @Ladybird810 I beleive her words were "Men and Women are like cookies and ice cream, you would be foolish not to try both".

  • "This is the story of Isobel; she was born in a forst by a spark, and as she grew up, she realized that the pebbles on the foret floor were actually skyscrapers. And by the time she was a grown-up woman and the skyscrapers had taken over the forest. She found herself in a city, and she didn't like all the people there so much, because they were a bit too clever for her."

  • Thats what Bjork says about it

  • yea i was reali young at the tym lol cnt work out which 1 i am thoe lol...thats reali bad

  • oh i finally found it..i was in this video years ago wen i was younger..dnt remember it to much jus reemember playin in a piano filled with water and bjork being reali nice, oh and wearin really uncomfortable shoes lol

  • aww wear you one of thelittle kids:)

  • jeuuuh

  • love bjork! every single peace of art! admirattions

  • 2:20 - 2:50 = pure ecstacy

I admire anyone who gets the ultimate opportunity to see this song performed live. According to some live YouTube performances via Bjork, she does a TREMENDOUS job!

I love all the electronica elements in her music, but it's her voice that always wins me over.

  • mas que bueno , el sonido y a la bulla , echas una

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

  • isn't today her birthday???

  • The beginning of this song faintly reminds me of The Rite of Spring by Stravinsky

    anyone else??

  • Yeah it does. Perhaps Bjork takes inspiration from classical composers.

  • this song is a teacher

  • love this song, but I can't figure out the lyrics. does anyone know what they mean?

  • I'm not too certain, but to me, it seems to be about a woman's independance. I don't know, people acquire different interpretations all the time, I suppose it is up to you.

  • i think its about what bjork feels like when shes off in her own world, her imagination, when shes 'married to myself', i think it means she feels at home with herself, loves herself.

  • love her!!

    she is GORGEOUS!

  • this is my all time favorite song. i love it.

A big moth had landed on my shoulder the other day and i couldnt stop thinking about this song again.

  • My friend, if a big moth landed on my shoulder, the last thing I'd be thinking about is a song xDD

I like this song, it's amazing~ She's so adorable and pretty

  • Gondry + Björk = success

Isobel is also one best songs i've ever heard

  • My daughter's name is Isobel. I didn't know about this song when I named her, but she is a forest child. I love this song and hope she appreciates it when she grows up.

  • I hope so! :)

  • She is so cute in here, I do extremely dislike Pagan Poetry though my sister is in love with that song along with many others. The video just kind of makes me sick. But I do love this video. She looks so much cuter with bangs =3

  • Pagan poetry kinda made me sick in the beginning but when you really start to get into it and find all the hidden messages. Most portray sex as being a dangerous thing but the song is about a woman before her wedding day. A corset is a beautiful piece of clothing and piercings are getting extreme, she found beauty in that image. Maybe it's just me tho. XD

  • I noticed Bjork had a lot of interesting songs with messages hidden in them. I read the lyrics and I guess I can under stand that. Sex is a beautiful thing to do with the one you love, but I would show anyone else because I don't find other people having sex pleasant to the eye. lol but that is just me?

  • where did you see anything about a corset! lol To me this song talks about the the destruction one can cause when they are only concerned about themselves. This songs talks about the lack of love for humanity, Life and people and when you desire to only please yourself it's leaves you with nothing! I'm reminded of a great quote. When you chase after greatness you will find nothing, but when you chase after truth you will be great!

  • In the Pagan Poetry MV there was an extreme piercing shot at the end. The piercings were in the shape of a corset, beautiful but at the same time disturbing. It took me awhile to accept that but I saw so much beauty when I did. I like your take on the song, very insightful. :)

  • i love and admire bjork

  • this is just fuckin amazing!!!! I am soo in love wit her crazy ass...Want me some bjork pie

  • beautiful

  • Naw, no individual song comes after Bachelorette, but the album Vespertine is rumored to be a concept album about the character Isobel (after the events of the first 3 songs, somewhat of an internal struggle type thing) but has never been fully confirmed by Bjork herself, only alluded to.

  • The first part is Isobel next continue Bachelorette!!! Some Excellent!!!

  • No, it goes Human Behaviour, Isobel, Bachelorette, and then Alarm Call.

  • This is what I consider a headwork...

  • in my heart full of dust live a creature called max it surprises and scares, like me

  • my love is Bjork ,married to myself...........

  • wish it was 'marcel'.

  • she seriously is one of todays most talented artists who never really got enough recognition

  • @breezee0622 Radiohead too.

  • @breezee0622 Which is really just fine. The best artists do not belong to the world. They do not compromise their artistic vision for mass adoration or riches. You can expect the most marvelous of musical minds to remain in the musical underground.

  • @breezee0622 I wouldnt say that's true at all. For such a brave and original musician, she has received amazing amounts of recognition. Most people who put as much love and care into their music as her never really get noticed outside of their hometowns. She's played at the olympic opening ceremony even.

  • @breezee0622 I'd really love to see her and Thom Yorke do more together. :)

  • myself......!!

  • is the lyrics 'married to myself'? or 'married to marcel'?

  • :)))))))))

  • "married to myself" is the lyric

  • lol, married to marcel.

    that would be hilarious.

  • Para mi lo mejor de BJORK.

  • I love it.

    It´s such a great song.

  • i love her...there's none like her...if only my ex-friend was more like her ...

  • AWESOMEE ! AMOO A BJORK!

  • bjork is a beautiful woman.....

  • the bangs make her look like an asian beauty

  • I love her music, but her music videos are weird.

    Not this one, at least.

  • That's another reason I love her!!

Every video has different things from extreme.

  • She sings about my name. ^^

  • this music clip reminds me of the time i lived near snaesfellsjokull and the city of Reykjavik just kept growing around and near us, we did really use the capital for resources because of some of the city jerks who lived there, business wankers.

  • Good song

  • excuse me, someone know where does the beginning of this song come from? i believe i've already heard, maybe it's prokofiev, i don't know...

    thx

  • maybe Holst.....really i don't know. someone could help me? THX

  • te amo nena, estas en mi corazon

  • I'm in love.

  • My sister was named after this song.

  • This song is part of the reason we named our daughter Isabel.

  • bjork=marilyn manson= amazing

    im serious

  • this songgg is blatantly writeen about me

    isobel ;)

  • This is music, F*uck pasito durangayse !!

  • The "dark feel" of this song and video is just incredible. I think this may be my favorite music video of all time. I love it. I get chills every time I watch it. Bjork is a goddess in many respects; her talent and creativity are amazing (and looks of course!).

  • dreamy

  • Björk + Michel Gondry = Amazing

  • ya te digo

  • love this video and song with its 'naturalness'

  • love this video and song with its 'naturalness'

  • I love Bjork, and have for over 15 years... (See "The SugarCubes") However, for as much as I love this song, and was glad to finally see Gondry's video for it, I am horrified that there has been a whole verse removed! This song is much longer than this on the CD..

  • She's sooooooo Beautiful!!

    Bjork i love you <3

  • 1st comment!

It's the first time I watch this video and I loved it, she looks very beautiful, even in black & white...
