I just researched this song and it was sung by Judith Barsi. People might remember her as the grand-daughter in the last "Jaws" movie. She was shot and killed by her father when she was ten years old.

5 people are the people who abuse their kids. I first heard this song on the radio Christmas 1984(i was 15)and was shocked that it would be played alongside traditional christmas songs.
Thankfully,i haven't heard it being played for the last couple of years because nothing says "Merry Christmas" like a song about child abuse. Especially since "Band-Aid" had just come out with "Do They Know It's Christmas?",a song for victims of famine in Africa.
i hate this topic. i truly do. i hate it because i am a child abuse survivor. i was one of the luck ones. i was abused and neglected since i was maybe 1, when my sister was born. my dad often had different wives and none of them liked me. i hardly got to eat so when i was ten, i was 4 foot nine inches and sverely underweight at 69 pounds.

I dare ANYBODY to listen to this and not tear up, or at least feel SOMETHING stirring in their heart. I haven't heard this song in a few years, and I still think about my childhood everytime I hear it. I'm a survivor, I went through a lot of shit from my dad, but I KNOW my little girls will NEVER have to experience the same thing. I made that oath when I was only 10 years old. I'm almost 29 now, with two children of my own. They'll know the love I never did.
