One of my battles (Xel'Naga Caverns) has gotten down to an assimilator and 3 Dark Templars on my side, and a fully loaded medivac and a barracks (which was lifted off onto the middle unreachable area). It was a standoff, until I remembered I could turn 2 of my DT's into an Archon. It was all downhill from there.

While I'm not a 100% sure why that is, I'd guess the point is to unable complete wall offs. Still the wall offs could be placed above the ramp, so I'm not really sure. All I know is that there are several maps with neutral supply depots.
