@MrLordHamHam that has nothing to do with it. putting a v8 in a car that weighs 3000 pounds will not have handling or balance. not because of weight but traction. this would be a good quarter mile car but stock m3's would do laps around this on a autocross track. ask any experienced racer.
@floridabowhunter I have to agree with vodka1983, you're rather ill-informed. The weight of the e36 m3 when compared to the ls1 corvette is actually more (by about 100 lbs.) so that should give you an idea of how much the engine weighs. The LS1 aluminum block (undressed) only weighs 107.1 lbs. Dressed, it weighs a bit more (Depending on how the swap was done). The power/weight ratio and balance would not have been reduced, It would almost certainly out-perform stock m3s on the track.
