  • all the old photos are something else to look at and remember & God how I miss Keith Whitley & his music -- this is one of my most favorite of all the songs he sings --

  • This is wonderful video.

  • LOVE IT *****

  • Thank you, Dwight, for this fantastic song with Keith. Words can't tell you how much this touched the heart of an ol' Sandy Hook gal....well not that old.

  • Wow, I had no idea, thank you so much for bringing this incredible piece of music history to the FB pages. I loved it, and as usual I am overwhelmed with this song bird and now to know his brother has such an incredible voice, I am humble in the presence of such a music avanture'' made up word. But if if meant anything, it woulds say he is as close to Keith as God will allow us. I am grateful to be in his presence.

  • BEAUTIFULLY DONE>.. WOW. I have to agree with the " seamlessly done".. it is. I have long been a fan of Keith, even in his early years..and of his family . Its wonderful the way its put together.. the thought and effort put into this really shines...Thank you for putting this on You Tube..

Thanks for sharing all these beautiful songs, I'm crying my eyes out, but I love it and miss him just think of all the songs that might have been...

  • Thanks for sharing this with everyone here. What a great song. Take Care

  • awesome!

  • Keith did have that pure country voice with that deep base. His brother Dwight was special too. Both were stars in my eyes. Beautiful duet.

  • This is just fantastic! What a wonderful job you have done putting this together! Thank you for posting it. xo

  • AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!

  • WOW very well done. I was expecting it to sound...well not too good...but it's about as close as we'll ever get to having the two of em in a studio together. I really don't know what else to say, other then WOW and I wish this was released on some CD so more people can hear it. Just wondering, were you lucky enough that the songs were recorded in the same key or did you need to use some kind of pitch shifting software? How did you get the instrumentals so seamless?

    -CGC

  • @psychotic33089 Wow! That's so sweet! Thank you for the kind words! No, surprisingly, I didn't have to use Audacity, I just used Windows Movie Maker, that's it. Dwight's version is ever so slightly faster in tempo than Keith's, but both versions are in exactly the same key.

  • It can't get better than this! this is God given talent. Thank you so much for this beautiful post!! and thank you Keith and Dwight Whitley!

  • Beautiful, thank you!

  • I have always loved Keith Whitley's music.

  • Awesome!

  • this song gives me goose bumps

  • i just wonder sometimes if the big shots in nashvile ever hop on youtube and look at what people really want to hear. no i guess i am just day dreaming, that would never happen as long as toby keiths and tim mcgraw sell out , and carrie underwood, god she is terrible.

  • @bluegrassman776 You said it!!!!

  • i thought about that for a second. james king was just as nice. i have to be honest.but i have met alot who was not as nice as dwight and james.

  • i met dwight last summer at olive hill fest. i have to say he was the nicest celeb i ever met in my life. and i have met every bluegrass star except earl scruggs and thats the true.

  • great job love it !!! miss keith gone way to soon!!!!!

  • FANTASTIC!!! Excellent job, totally seamless. Never heard of the Whitleys until I began viewing the videos you posted. I have been a country music fan since the '60's. But the country station here switched to sports in 1988. Since I got a computer and went online last July, I've once more been able to listen to country music.

  • Thank you, Alan! Glad I was able to introduce you to the Whitleys. I run the Keith Whitley Association group on Facebook & Yahoo. Maybe you could join us!

  • I have done so.

  • THIS is great music!!! (Pay attention Country Music)

...man I miss KW, what could havebeen.

  • thanks for putting this wounderful song up on utube you can tell you put a lot of work into it i love it the whitleys are great i wounder did you ever get a reponce from any of the whitleys to this song

  • I have been told that Dwight's son Mike really enjoyed the mix, and that a couple of Lorrie's sisters and Lorrie's 1st husband, Ron Gaddis, does watch my videos. I don't know if Flo or Dwight have had a chance to hear this or not. I'm so humbled by that. Thank you so much for stopping by!

  • You did a great job, thanks for the music.

  • wonderful... thanks

  • if u do any more of them or any other country sings let me know would love to hear them

  • If you want, you can go ahead and subscribe, then you'll automatically get a notification in your subscriptions feed every time I upload a new video. I have 4 more parts of Keith's Golden ROPE performance to upload, plus I'm supposed to be getting some footage from Dwight & Keith's son Jesse that they want me to upload for them.

  • i would like to see Dwight/whitley do brotherly love if u can find a way

  • Good idea. I'll keep that in mind.

  • I got the video done, but it was a challenge. Now I have to decide if I want to put it up now or wait until the weekend of the 26th of June to commemorate the weekend of the Keith & Randy Whitley Memorial Ride, since the video features all 4 of the Whitley kids. Stay tuned. Hope it has the same impact this one had.

  • can u do more Dwight/Keith Whitley duets

  • Now that school is out for summer, I have more time to explore that possibility. This one turned out so well that I want to do more. Thanks for your interest.

  • i lov dis

  • Mam,This is on my Personal Page! A Favorite! My Favorite People List! Keith was Excellent. I wish

he was still with us! Dwight is excellent as well.

Superb video of them both, Enjoyed it so very much!! **************************************************

    100 stars!!!

  • Dear Mam,

Thank You for such Beautiful Work!

I and my husband Loved Keith, we still do, and miss him and his wonderful voice so much. We both tear up so often when we listen to him. He will always be in our hearts and in our life and minds forever, his music is part of what we enjoy so much in our evenings and my husband plays his music with his band. Keith & his unique voice was a gift, to his Loved Ones and his Fans! The silence came way too soon..We will all miss him, FOREVER! God Bless

  • Just look at these view totals...Never say never when it comes to duets like this...Things happen for a reason and this video is no exception. I truly believe Dwight and Keith were destined to do this song together and I'd like to think that you made the Whitley's very happy...I know their fans are!

  • Thanks, Jim. This Saturday is going to be a challenge to get through, the 20th anniversary of his passing. Radio stations are going to be bombarded with phone calls. I'm hoping to get some video soon of Jesse performing live. He's already given me permission to post it here. No one's been more surprised to see the reaction of this song more than me!!! Hope you're doing alright.

  • Wow! Great job! Thanks so much for posting. Keith is my alltime favorite.

  • Thanks so much for stopping by! Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for supporting Keith!

  • MAMsMom97 is there any way to get this on cd ?

  • I can upload it to Sendspace and put the link to the file in the video description. Watch this space.

  • I had forgotten, I already had an active link to the download in the video description. I put a new link on the video description just now.

  • MAMsMom, you've done an incredible job on this, it's awesome. thanks for taking the time to post something like this, it's now on my favourites

  • Thank you for the very nice compliment and for stopping by. I am definitely heartened by the incredible feedback I've received on this.

  • I love this song. So glad it was posted.

  • Thank you very much for the sweet comment and for stopping by!

  • I would love to get with you and do some STANLEY tunes!!

  • Great video

  • Thank you! Hope you also enjoyed the mix I created. I hope to make more Keith/Dwight "duets" soon.

  • keith will always be one of countries best , he had his own voice and no one will ever sound like him , new or old , he is his own sound .

  • I can not thank you enough for this.

  • Wow, that's so nice. Thank you so much for stopping by. All the wonderful comments I've received has given me the motivation to pursue making more Keith/Dwight "duets." Oh, BTW, it was announced yesterday that Keith finished #1 in the voting to be inducted into the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame Class of '09!!! PTL!!! Renfro Valley this year, Nashville next year! And Dwight has been chosen to induct his brother. I think that is so awesome!!!

  • Keith just breaks your heart, don't he?

  • WOW Absolutely brilliant. Thanks for posting.

  • missed in the bluegrass !

  • This here is good music!

  • I agree. The basic ingredients used in this recipe are better alone, I think, than the final product I came up with. But I'm so glad it was so well-received. Thank you!

  • two thumbs up! this is whats its all about.

  • Thank you very much for your enthusiastic vote of approval, and for stopping by!

  • I have dwights brotherly love cd its awsome. My family is from eastern kentucky, does keith sing this song solo ? Thanks for postin this i listen to this everyday.

  • Dwight's follow-up from 2000, "Nothin' But a Woman," is even better. As I said in my video description, Keith recorded this on his DCYE album. Thanks for stopping by and for returning back when you can.

  • Oops, sorry, I meant to say that Keith's version was from his "I Wonder Do You Think Of Me" album released in August 1989.

  • I want you to know that i just got to hear keith's recording to nite. And want you to know that you couldnt have done this song any better. their voices are awsome together. You did it perfect, dwight's intro is so strong, then keith's voice deep and heartful. Thank you, i know they would very pleased !

  • Wow, that's so sweet of you to say. Thank you! I've been trying to put my WMM videos (including this one) onto DVD for Dwight, but I have to do the multiplex thing so I have to convert everything first, and it's so time-consuming. Thanks again!

  • hey mamsmom can i ask you for some advice??

  • I'm better at making videos and being a teachers aide.

  • Love this song.

  • thanks for this video, I've been looking for it for so long, thought someone else sang it! I'll play it a few more times for my memories. I love it, thanks again!!

  • Every time that I listen to this song I get emotional, it makes me tearful and so sad.

  • yeah i know what you mean i do to

  • 2058 views for you on this one Sharon...outstanding! You should try to get them (radio) to play this. Don't you ever wonder how well this would be received if the country heard this. I have from the beginning and I think it would be big!

  • I'm really shocked, Jim. I think the only station that would touch this might be WVSB, the public-service classic country station run by the WV School for the Deaf & Blind, which by the way is my fave local radio station. If their last name is Whitley, and they're from Sandy Hook, KY, they'll play it. But before I do that, I'd try to clean it up a bit. There are 1 or 2 parts of this that sorta make me cringe. I appreciate your vote of confidence, tho!

  • I can name 3 stations in central MN that would have tremendous fan support for this version and the history behind it. Many of them play deep cuts of Keith and Steve Earle so I would not be surprised to hear it on air, only elated. I can not wait to hear my brothers response when I share it with him.

  • Keith has tremendous fan base in MN. My YouTube friend MNmale1972 is a huge Whitley fan... ALL the Whitleys. Keith, Dwight, John, Mike, Jesse... he doesn't discriminate. (LOL) Thank you so much for the kind comments. Please feel free to share with whomever.

  • Sharon I just absolutely love this video. I watched the other one but yours will always be my favorite.

  • Thank you, Virginia. Jim's video will always be very special to me because it was made by a new Keith Whitley fan who was inspired by Dwight's unfulfilled desire to record with his baby brother. That, to me, makes it extra special.

  • I certainly understand you feelings! So I'm sure you understand why I would lean toward yours. You have been so kind to me and answered all my questions about Keith. And, gave me an opportunity to hear some of his music I never heard before. Also, I understand the brotherly love. I lost my sister 31 years ago and miss her still, she was my best friend.

  • This just gets better and better the more I watch it. I think Dwight will be pleased. Thank you Sharon, you did good!

  • Thanks for sharing and making it Sharon. Nicely done.

  • Thanks, Kindall. Thanks for stopping by. Hope all is well with you.

  • another fine young man with a lot of talent lost to his demons....as a recovering addict myself, i've thought of him often over the years...RIP Keith

  • You know I thought -- for someone to drink themselves to death they have to be very miserable. I am not into drugs or alcohol and I must realize how hurt this man was to drink himself to death. Any idea of why he was in so much pain.

  • i don't know the answer to that, my friend, i guess all addicts have their reasons for drinking or using....i am 15 months clean from a 15 yr habit....i think i initially started drinking to try and cope with the almost unbearable pain of my mother's death when she was just 59 and i was 37...but, maybe that was just an excuse...all i know is at the end of the 15 yr (vacation in the ghetto, as my favorite Steve Earle calls his using) i nearly died myself...

  • You were 37 when you started? Glad you have been 15 months clean and hope you stay clean forever. Well for those reading- Tabitha was not 15 when she had me gang raped and she is 37. She is not a child and people have to stop lying about a 37 year old criminal bitch being a child when she is not a child and was not a child when she committed her crimes. God I can't wait till the truth comes out. Anyway, I hope you are able to stay clean and hope the pain which lead you to use goes away.

  • my friend...i started drinking when i was 31, hell i guess that does mean i used longer than i thought....

you take care...i am not aware of your story here, but i am praying for you...

this video though is incredible...i saw Keith Whitley years ago, he was something else, his brother looks so much like him...

  • i really enjoyed that thanks sharon. one of keith's favorite songs.

  • Thank you, Don! Glad you could stop by. Hope all is well with you.

  • Fine thanks. am in the philippines for a fortnight, just played it again and it's started again as i write! look forward to your report on the labor day exhibit.

  • I just downloaded the song Sharon. Thank you for making it available for everyone to enjoy. Have a great night!

  • Thank you, Dennis! Keep singin'!

  • I have not been on much but this is awesome and I had to take the time to say so. I need to get the guitar out and work on some more of Keiths great stuff. Ahhhhh I am gonna listen to this over and over.....tell Dwight thanks......and I already thanked Keith!

    Love ya!

    Mark

  • Hey there, Mark! It's been a while! Maybe I can fix you up with Dwight's stuff. Let me know in an email. I'm planning my big pilgrimage to Sandy Hook in 4 weeks, so hopefully I'll get to see Dwight then. Keep in touch!

  • Great work Sharon on the audio/video and a fine song too. The voices blend very well together

  • Thanks, Shay. I just wished they had actually recorded something together. They had planned to do something like this. Keith even made arrangements for Dwight to go out with him on tour. He was in a bad way, and he really needed him. But Keith passed away before Dwight got the chance to go out with him. It saddens me. Dwight's lost 2 brothers, his son, and a nephew. He's an extremely talented singer and banjo player, but he chose to raise his family instead of playing. He's a real inspiration.

  • You have made it happen Sharon, with your great skills and are keeping the memories alive

  • I agree with the rest Sharon, this is sooo good!! I absoutly love it and i've never heard the song before, luckily they sang in the same key! definitely a fav! thanks for sharing

  • Wow! Thank you so much, Elin! Thank Jim for giving me the idea. I don't know why I never thought of it before. I'm glad you liked it. I'm so overwhelmed by the positive response this has gotten so far. I've had requests for more like this, too.

  • This is totally awesome, two great singers combined, two talented brothers sharing a song, Sharon this is truly one of your greatest creations, A masterpiece indeed!

  • Aw, thank you so much, dear! I really want to get to know Dwight better, not just to have a chance to hear what Keith stories he has, although I know he's got a great gift for spinning a story, but he seems to be so full of wisdom. He seems to also have a sick, twisted sense of humor... he's a man after my own heart!

  • I know he's already got your heart, but I hear he's got competition... (LOL) You've certainly got your hands full! (Oops, sorry, didn't mean it, the way it came out.) (ROFLOL)

  • Amazing Sharon! I just knew if anyone could do it you could. There voices aren't actually that far apart in sound. I was amazed at the way you put this together, It sounds great, totally in sync! Thank you for the mention, it was very sweet of you. Strait to the top of Aggy Productions USA*

  • My good friend cherrie68 called me, and she's going to play this for Dwight. The Mike comment I made is an inside joke I put up just for Dwight. I had to make the video first with some basic piecing together of the 2 versions, then I imported the video back into WMM & worked on the bridge in pieces b/c Dwight's version was just a hair faster & had more instrumentation. Keith's version was completely barebones. Thanks again for the idea! Cherrie wants me to make more of these now.

  • I'm just so damn (sorry) proud of you for the great (and quick) work you've done on this Sharon! I sincerly hope he likes this and by seeing all the great comments I think you definitly have a winner here! I'm all...I'm at a loss for words, I love this video very much. Sometimes that Jim guy can come up with an idea or two, not to shabby for an "old dude" (to borrow a nickname a few of the young waitresses gave me!)

  • Well, Cherrie showed it to Flo today, and she gave it the "Whitley-Tested, Whitley-Approved" seal. She wants me to send the raw file to Cherrie so she can burn it to DVD. Dwight's in North Carolina (with Charlotte, I suppose--a little Keith Whitley joke there) today, so he hasn't seen it yet. Then again, Flo's pretty easy to please. It's very cool to see how well it was received.

  • All I can say is ...get ready for great things to happen!

  • Sharon, this is a masterpiece!!! thank you.

What a wonderful idea your friend had, thanks to him also. Having one of those restless nights worked out for me, I had the pleasure of waking up to this.

  • Masterpiece? WOW! That's huge, thank you, Virginia! I had a restless night, too, and I woke up to your wonderful comment.
