Planning an overtake in Wales

Can you tell me if going above 60mph to overtake is ok? The road has a 60 limit but want to know what the deal is if the vehicle in front is doing say 58mph and you wish to overtake at 64mph or so. Thanks

@JazzFiveO - Iam afraid you can not do it, especially with Rospa. Speed limits must be adhered to. There is always going to be that one occasion when the not so friendly Police Officer is there and will do you for exceeding the speed limit. In reality when you are out by yourself, you would do the overtake !

@advancedbiker with that said , is it hard to find places to practice overtaking like this? If you were out doing your ROSPA test and you couldnt find any vehicles going slow enough to show your proficiency in overtaking would that skill be ignored or would you come back?

@jimbo80982 = If there is no opportunity to do an overtake on a RoSPA test, you would not be marked down. When I examine I am looking for a rider who is 'systematic', safe and who shows to me that they have a good practical knowledge of advanced riding. The riding should be 'BRISK', within the posted speed limits. If there are no overtakes, you could still display your ability to access the situation, i.e. Moving closer to prepare for an overtake, change road position.

reading all the comments, as a paramedic and a biker, i wish more people would watch this video, yes experienced riders can already overtake in safety. but the road is full of summer riders and those quick to criticise anyone trying to help. Safe riding and lets hope you do know how to overtake and I'm not called out to you!!

@tweetdezweet Were trying to ride to the Police System of Motorcycle Training and part of that system is checking the mirrors, then a shoulder check, either left or right. The 'Lifesaver' is called a last look behind before you commit to a turn, overtake etc. A good look behind you....Checking that any 'BLIND SPOT' is covered.

I had a similar problem, when i did my on road there was no traffic near where i'm from.

It resulted in over-taking a learner driver, who was actually stationary.

Makes a change seeing riders doing the 'right' thing since this road and neighbouring roads in the area have been witness to some very nasty fatal collisions with bikers.
