Firstly, I would like to say I am a Philosophy student and have studied the bible right back to the days it was first written. I have studied ancient greek philosophers, right up to the modern views encorperating scientific factors into religion such as Darwinism.
I do not agree nor disagree that a God or a supreme being exists. However, I know that if he did, following the bible, he would be omnibenevolent and according to Genesis created us in his own image.

The scariest thing about unswerving Christians is their ability to never stumble over a question. They always seem to have answers. A guy i used to work with was the same way. He wasn't like these nut jobs but he was pretty close. Talking to him was scary and almost had me believing. He had well thought out answer for every single question i could throw at him.

I think the message behind the Westboro Baptist Church is that you should rejoice in ALL of God's decisions and follow the Bible wholeheartedly. I get the idea that they believe if you are a Christian, you have to obey all the commands and can't pick and choose which bits you will abide by and which you won't (i.e. If God says, don't have sex out of wedlock, why do people still have sex out of wedlock?) I understand that. However, Christianity is based on love & forgiveness, not fear.
