I find the grey moths one's tail was cut off and it just had the back fur 2 legs head and 2 wings, I took care of it until it died 1 and a half hours later so sad :C
looks amazing, rly colorful and pretty...but i'd still freak out like hell if it flew inside my house. there's something about moths i hate...they fly like they're on acids or have parkinsons xD
im a dude and all but im an artist and a tattoo artist and i have to tattoo damn butterflys all the time but i think butterflys and moths are beautiful but i like moths more
I had one on our drive way last month...HUGE beautiful and furry....Unbeleivable markings and colors....Nothing ever seen like this in the 16 years I have lived in Denver and no one else who saw him could figure him out either....We had a wierd spring and summer and wonder if he was from somewhere else.
@thoughoutlife Its for protection vs birds. They are colored to look like eyes so they look much bigger to predators. If you notice, all giant moths have "eye" looking spots.
I like your video. I saw one of these at my job and it literally was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. It was doing the same motion with it's wings and I couldn't help but stare at it for a while.
Yeah could be but he/she was in my yard in Victoria BC so i dont think it crawled all that way. then again I dont know if it flew all the way either, but who knows.
What you have there is a Ceanothus Silkmoth (Hyalophora euryalus). I've raised a ton of them (see my channel for the complete life cycle). This one is a male and it's trying to scare you by moving its wings. They're completely harmless. :)
That is one beautiful Saturnid. It looks very much like a Cecropia moth, (Hyalophora cecropia) but with that much red, more like its Hyalophoran cousin, whom I do not remember the name of.

This is a columbia moth, correct? I had a female, M.Z, she laid a good amount of eggs, i think.
TheMuffinChannel102 2 years ago
Could very well be, a few people have posted their ideas on it, but for me not knowing the family or phylum makes it tough.

Wow, what rich colours, they don't kid when they say moths are more colourful than butterflies.
Scarlohara 3 years ago 14
Yes they are, for some reason they dont get the same notiriatie as Butterflys when clearly they are more colorful
Skullerman 3 years ago
@Scarlohara Absolutely, moths are so much more interesting than butterflies. Plus they're so fluffy and plump!
