Probably, my favorite aspect about the arduino, is the fact that there is an extensive amount of examples and references. Just google arduino, and go to the homepage. Click on the "learning" button, and you will be amazed. It is quite possible that you can learn everything you want to know from this website, which might be better if your learning C just to program the arduino. Either way, this is a great hobby, welcome!
Thanks a lot, I appreciate it. It sounds like you've got some knowledge programming, so I would recommend either the Arduino or the PIC. Probably the Arduino since you are a beginner. This is an awesome hobby, and this video is proof of this. Working with microcontrollers gives you the ability to execute your ideas and build just about anything you want. Stay tuned because I'm planning on making a full intro to micros video; I just need to experiment with the PICAXE chip first.
