Isn't it ironic, how most of Mark's songs were full of hope and life and love and so much genuine tenderness. No one who didn't know him personally would never have guessed. He could have kept on singing about the beautiful things we have to look forward to in life. It makes me falter a little. But then again, maybe I can do what he wasn't able to and pick up the goodness where he left it. And who knows, maybe it is just as he sings it - a wonderful life.

I remember the album this was from and I loved the shit out of it and had a couple others but didn't think they were as good but then I didn't hear from mark linkous for a long time. Then, two amazing albums and well, now nothing. This song to me is like a standard, a little nonsense song you hum can hum when your working because the lyrics are perfectly indecipherable. Its a perfect pop song I think, only distorted into some strange dark and beautiful shape.
There's something so painful and sad about this song, something so tragic in the irony, listening to it now after his suicide. So so beautiful, but that voice is so so haunted....

I was fortunate enough to have seen Sparklehorse when he/they supported David Gilmour at the Royal Festival Hall. It's a wonderful life was the then current album and I'm really glad I was introduced to it. Another sad passing of a fabulous musician.

mark linkous was such a profound musician. It's so sad to hear that he died.. but some comments that i have noticed have pissed me off something awful..

@mentallyxderanged Maybe you should re-read what I said. I made my comment in regards that Mark's music is helping me think less about it and helps me get through some of those days I want to. I'm not advertising anything except for how Mark and Sparklehorse is some of the most beautiful music ever made.

@DubyaDubyaE actually you did say you were thinking about killing yourself... Whether it was an intentional advertisement or not you still advertised it. Yes the music is amazing and beautiful, but surely your life isn't that bad. Take a concrete pill, harden up, realize there is atleast 1,000,000 other people who have it way worse than you and stop moping about your own melancholy.

Started listening to Sparklehorse after I read Colin's entry on Radioheads website. Made me quite sad as soon as I'd heard a few songs, Mark made some truly beautiful music. Rest in peace, Mr. Linkous.
